2 Essential and compulsory in most of the industrial works, head protection is something usual, but is not alien to research and improvement. Made to avoid shocks, soften falls, protect the electric arc, eliminate pressure or reduce risk of headaches, Sibol has known how to combine perfectly, in this products chapter, lightness with ergonomics and actual design. 1

Electric arc: Electric shock made between two electrodes submitted to a potential difference and placed into the bosom of a rare gaseous atmosphere, normally at low pressure or at open air. Skullcap: Element of hard material and smooth finish which made the external general shape of the helmet. The function is to limit the shock damages. Harness: Full set of elements which constitute a way to maintain the helmet on the head and take up kinetic energy during an impact. Chinstrap: Strap that goes linked under the chin holding the helmet to the head and avoids the fall. This element is optional in the equipment setting up, and not all the helmets have it compulsory. Can be simple or with chinstrap. Especially used in height works. Very high temperature Impacts absorption and resistance to the penetration 150º C. Electrical properties Lateral deformation Molten metal splashes EN This requirement ensures user protection during a short period of time against electrical active conductor with a voltage up to 440V. This standard is applicable to electrically insulating helmets used for working live or closet parts on installations not exceeding 1000V a.c. or 1500 V d.c. These helmets, when used in conjunction with other electrically insulating protective equipment prevent dangerous current from passing though persons via their head. Helmet maximum deformation won t exceed from 40 mm and the lateral residual deformation won t exceed from 150 mm after applying an incremented strength up to 430 N. The helmet mustn t be pierced by molten metal, show any deflection bigger than 10 mm or burn with flame emission after a period of 5 seconds timed when the flow of molten metal is already finished. 3

5 STANDARD Head Protection A Physical requirements C B Inner vertical distance (A): Represents the inner surface heigth of the skullcap on the head, when the helmet is being used. It is related with the stability. It musn t be higher than 50 mm. Inner vertical space (B): Air space depth is over the head, when the helmet is being used. It is related with ventilation. It must be higher than 25 mm. Quilted (C) Protection Helmets Choice of the suitable head protector To protect ourselves correctly and choose the most suitable safety helmet, first of all we will have to identify the risk: shocks, object impacts or combined risks (where will be required face or ear protection). 6 IDRA Helmet Head Protection Protection Cap Protection Helmets IDRA Helmet > EXPERT CHARACTERISTICS Safety helmet against short-circuit arc with integrated visor. It has a polycarbonate visor of 1.7 mm thickness, allowing its continued use without causing eyestrain. Anti-fog coating visor on the inside. Anti-scratch coating on the outside. User s head and face protection against electric arcs and the danger of projection of various particles. The helmet is composed of a double shell that allows the visor to enter inside the helmet when is not being used. The visor is perfectly positioned on the head, in the upstream position, preventing the user has an additional weigth on the front. Allows to combine the helmet with the integrated visor alongside prescription espectacles. Thanks to the helmet and visor features, the IDRA can be used for many other applications where the protection of the head and face is needed.
