1 Protection Group Providing Solutions Developing Your Emergency Preparedness

2 Emergency Preparedness and the Efficient, Effective Management of Incidents Introduction Based on the Wilton International site on Teesside, Sembcorp UK Protection Group has over 50 years of experience in protecting high hazard installations in one of the busiest areas of chemical manufacturing in Europe. As practitioners in Emergency Preparedness, our vast experience means that we are well placed to share our knowledge and expertise with you in order to help you protect your business and reputation. The Protection business offers comprehensive emergency management services tailored to your requirements. So whether you need advice on outsourcing of emergency response; planning and development of emergency training and exercising; risk management or technical advice, talk to Sembcorp, we practice what we teach. 2

3 Consultancy Training Exercising Do you have the necessary trained personnel? Do your plans cover every aspect of Emergency Preparedness? Have your plans been tried and tested? When was the last time you carried out an exercise? Industrial organisations face a myriad of legislation geared to protect people and environment. The process for ensuring that all hazards are addressed should include awareness; prevention; preparedness; response and the ability to recover - in short everything that is key to ensuring business and reputation survival. Preparation - Management - Recovery Our in-house consultants have decades of operational experience and utilise their knowledge and skills to provide a tailored consultancy service to a wide range of organisations. Supported by in-house specialists, our aim is to help clients identify gaps and determine the best way to tackle them in the fastest and most cost effective manner. Effective incident management requires people trained to respond with skills that equal the risks and demands. Training calls for individuals to display more than just technical expertise and is best delivered by highly qualified people with first-hand experience of the challenges those undergoing the training are likely to face. Incident responders need a thorough understanding of their specific roles and responsibilities and a detailed appreciation of the site s infrastructure. Our extensive training portfolio provides an holistic approach to emergency preparedness ranging from basic safety training through to comprehensive strategic incident management, equipping delegates with the skills and confidence required should they be faced with an emergency situation. All training courses can be tailored to your requirements. Exercises are a key mechanism for validating the effectiveness of emergency arrangements. There are a number of reasons why exercises should be carried out: Statutory regulations Licence conditions placed on certain establishments. Evaluating existing emergency arrangements Testing new systems and procedures Revalidation following a recent incident The comprehensive range of exercises provided are designed to test the accuracy and completeness of emergency arrangements. Designed and tailored to meet specific customer requirements, they can include drills; seminar; walkthrough; table top; control post; live play and restoration and recovery. The primary objective is to provide solutions to regulatory compliance and to build confidence and resilience in emergency responders. 3
