FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION The EZ Up pneumatic lift tables are designed to position a pallet, container or work in progress at a convenient working height. Positioning the load at a convenient height provides the operator with easier access to components and minimizes bending, reaching and stretching. EZ Up tables provide an economical alternative to hydraulic lifts and eliminating the need for hydraulic pumps and cylinders. Load support is provided by a single Firestone Airstroke Actuator positioned between the scissor structure and the platform. The actuator provides the EZ Up lift table with a maximum capacity of 2000 lb at 90 psi. As detailed in the technical specifications, capacity and speed are determined by the air pressure and flow available. Raising and lowering is controlled by a remote mounted, lever actuated, pneumatic valve. For operator safety, the hand lever is spring centered and will return to the neutral position when released. SCISSOR BLOCKING INSTRUCTIONS To Engage The Maintenance Bars 1. Remove all load from the platform and raise the lift table to its fully raised position. 2. As detailed in Figure 5, rotate BOTH maintenance bars approximately 90º such that the bars are parallel with the scissor legs. The end of the bar should be positioned between the end of the leg and the collar on the roller shaft. 3. Lower the lift by shifting the hand control lever to the Lower position and allow the scissor mechanism to rest against the maintenance bars. ALWAYS check the position of both maintenance bars before going under the platform.. NEVER GO UNDER THE PLATFORM UNTIL THE LOAD IS REMOVED AND THE SCISSOR MECHANISM IS BLOCKED. Figure 5 - Maintenance Bar Operation To Disengage The Maintenance Bars 4. Raise the platform to its fully raised position by shifting the hand control lever to the Raise position. 5. Rotate both maintenance bars approximately 90º to their original position. DANGER A falling lift table can cause SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY or DEATH. NEVER go under the platform until the load is removed and the scissor mechanism is blocked with the maintenance bars. The maintenance bars have been designed for use only when the lift is UNLOADED. NEVER place any load on the platform with the maintenance bars engaged. SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY or DEATH and PROPERTY DAMAGE could result. 7 EZ UP

INSTALLATION Installation of the EZ Up lift table is a simple process; however, certain precautions must be taken to ensure years of trouble free service. The EZ Up requires clean, dry, compressed air to operate properly. A filter and regulator with a pressure gauge should be installed on an air line in the installation area before initially charging the system for use. Before you begin, locate and identify the pneumatic components detailed in Figure 6. These components will be referred to in the Installation and the Set-Up procedures. Make sure you understand the function of each component before proceeding. Control Valve Bleed Control Valve 3/8" Male Pipe Swivel Inlet 3/8" NPT Air Line Figure 6 - Pneumatic Components INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Air Line - A ten (10) ft long pnuematic air line is supplied with the EZ Up lift table. One end of the air line is connected to the lift at the factory. The other end of the air line is supplied with a 3/8 in. male pipe thread swivel and must be attached to the control valve. Control Valve - A three (3) way, three (3) position pneumatic valve is supplied with the EZ Up lift table. The valve has a spring centered hand lever so that when the lever is released from the Raise or Lower positions it will automatically return to the neutral position. The valve is supplied with 3/8 in. female pipe threads. Bleed Control Valve - The bleed valve is an adjustable one way valve screwed into the exhaust port of the control valve. The valve provides lowering speed control by regulating the rate of discharge air from the air spring. Turning the valve counter-clockwise opens the valve and increases the lowering speed of the lift. Likewise, turning the valve clockwise closes the valve and reduces the lowering speed. EZ UP 8

1. Make sure the installation area is clean before starting. Check the installation surface to ensure it is relatively smooth and level. Otherwise, the lift s base frame should be shimmed to make it level. 2. Using a forklift or similar equipment, move the palletized lift table to the location it is to be installed. 3. Remove the steel bands securing the lift table to the pallet. Next, remove all packing material and place it off to the side. Figure 7 - Handling the EZ Up Lift Table 4. Using a forklift, carefully position the forks under the platform structure, as detailed in Figure 7. Slowly lift the platform to fully extend the lift, then lift the unit off the pallet. Next, remove the pallet and place if off to the side. Then position the lift table in the desired location. Use care not to damage or run over the air line supplied with the lift. 5. Mount the control valve supplied with the lift table in a location convenient to the operator. The valve should be positioned so that unintentional operation is avoided. Ensure the air line will reach the valve position and is not in a walkway or obstructing forklift traffic. 6. Connect the lift s air line to the control valve. A 3/8 in. pipe thread elbow is provided at the valve s outlet port. Depending on the valve s mounting position, the air line may be connected to the elbow or the elbow removed and the line connected directly to the valve body. 7. Shut off the air supply and connect the air line from the regulator to the inlet of the control valve. Open the air supply and set the regulator to the desired operating pressure (see Table 1). The maximum operating pressure is 100 psi. Bishamon recommeds securing the EZ Up lift table to the floor for maximum stability. However, in most applications, floor anchors are not required for safe operation. Contact your Dealer or Bishamon Industries Corporation if you have any questions regarding the proper installation of the lift. Complete steps 8 and 9 to secure the lift to the floor. 8. The base frame of the lift table has 4 pre-drilled holes for lagging the unit securely to the floor. Using the 4 holes as a template, mark the holes on the floor. Using the forklift, shift the position of the lift to allow room for drilling, then drill. When complete, reposition the lift and install anchors lagging the EZ Up lift securely to the floor. NOTE: Make sure the bottom surfaces of the base are fully supported along the width with shims or concrete grout. 9. The lift is now ready for operation. Refer to the Technical Specifications and Performance section to determine the air pressure and flow requirements. 9 EZ UP

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS & PERFORMANCE The lift capacity, raised height and speed of the EZ Up lift table depend on the system pressure (PSI) and the system flow (SCFM). Lift capacity and raised height depend on the system pressure alone. The effective area of an airspring decreases with height. Therefore, pnuematic lifts, which use air springs for load support, will generally lift more capacity initially. The effective lift capacity then decreases as the height of the spring increases. This is illustrated in Figure 8, which shows the height a 1500 lb and a 2000 lb load can be lifted at various air pressures. The air pressures and lift capacities listed in Table 1 are the pressures required to lift the stated capacities to the maximum height. The maximum operating pressure is 100 PSI. On the other hand, lift speed depends on SCFM, which is a function of air compressor capacity. Many factors, such as differential pressure, pipe sizes, etc., affect the air flow in a system. A system capable of delivering a minimum of 20 SCFM will provide acceptable performance. Generally, increasing the SCFM will increase the lift speed, whereas increasing the pressure will increase the capacity and may increase the lift speed. Approximate lift and lower speeds are also listed in Table (762) PLATFORM HEIGHT in. 14 Load (lb) Pressure (psi) Raised Height (in.) Approximate Raise Time (Sec) Approximate Lowering Time (Sec) OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Table 1 - EZ Up Performance Raising the Platform 1. Before raising the platform, BE SURE that all others are well clear of the lift. If the platform is loaded, RECHECK the position and condition of the load. 2. Shift the hand lever to the Raise position (see Figure 9) to charge the system with air and raise the platform to a convenient working height. CONTINUOUSLY WATCH the condition of the load as the platform is raised. If the load appears to be shifting, STOP, lower the platform and adjust the load. RAISE LOWER Loading / Unloading the Platform 1. Check the load or component weight to ensure the total load does not exceed the capacity of the lift. Refer to the capacity decal on the end of the platform. 2. Raise the platform to a convenient working height. Figure 9 - Control Lever 3. Uniformly distribute the load over the platform or supporting surface and ensure the load is tightly stacked. Use CAUTION when adding or removing load from the platform. Due to the compressibility of air the platform may move down or up when adding or removing load. WARNING ALWAYS uniformly distribute each layer of load over the supporting surface. DO NOT concentrate the load at one point on the platform or pallet. DO NOT overpressurize or overload the EZ Up lift table. The maximum system air pressure is 100 psi (6.9 bar). ALWAYS stay within the designated pressure and capacity ratings. SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY and PROPERTY DAMAGE could result. SUDDEN MOVEMENT HAZARD. Due to the compressibility of air, use CAUTION when adding or removing load from the platform. Platform movement MAY occur as the load weight changes. SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY could result. 11 EZ UP

Lowering the Platform 1. Before lowering the platform, BE SURE that all others are well clear of the lift. If the platform is loaded, RECHECK the position and condition of the load. 2. Shift the hand lever to the Lower position (see Figure 9) to discharge the air and lower the platform. CONTINUOUSLY WATCH the condition of the load as the platform is lowering. If the load appears to be shifting, STOP and adjust the load. HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS Bishamon recommends securing the EZ Up lift table to the floor for maximum stability. However certain applications require the lift table to be relocated frequently. Handling the EZ Up can be easily accomplished as follows: 1. Remove all load from the platform and raise the lift table to its fully raised position. 2. Using a forklift, position the forks under the platform structure, as detailed in Figure Slowly lift the EZ Up until the base frame clears the floor.
