GENERAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE MANUAL SYMBOLOGY Observing prescriptions of this manual is a crucial precaution concerning safe operation in explosive atmospheres as far as WTC/4 C../EX scales are concerned. All users and the personnel responsible for maintenance should be familiar with this manual and manuals describing functional parts of this device: - PUE C/31H/EX indicator - ZRi02 power supplier. The mentioned manual should be accessible all the time for people who are involved in working or maintenance of the device. You can find following symbology in this manual: - activities always required, - activities required under some circumstances, - marking of passages that are crucial for anti-explosive safety. Safety usage manual can be complement with additional warnings and security information provided by RADWAG. The whole personnel should be informed about any released appendix to this manual. 2. INTENDED USE OF WTC/4 C../EX SCALES. WTC/4 C../EX scales are intended to mass measurements in hazardous areas endangered to appearance of explosive atmosphere. They can be used for weighings goods. Tarring within the whole range of measurement allows to measure net mass of loads. Scales of WTC/4 C../EX series, because of the construction of the non-electrical part of the platform and used material, can be used in zones 1 or 2 endangered for appearance of gases, mixture of gases, mists form IIA or IIB explosive groups and T1, T2, T3 or T4.temperature class

6 3. 4-LOAD CELL PLATFORMS IN WTC/4 C../EX. Four load cell WTC/4 C../EX scales have modular construction and consist of: PUE C/31H/EX indicator ZRi02 power supplier made by RADWAG, for placing behind the hazardous area Load cells (Ex construction) Mechanical construction non-electrical part PUE C/31H/EX indicator is connected via a ~3m cable with a tensometer built-in in a steel platform. This platform is equipped in a weight pan made of stainless steel. The connecting cable is protected by a pliant pipe made of zirconium steel. Indicators are supplied from ZRi02 power suppliers made by RADWAG placed outsider a hazardous area. The housing is connected to the weighing platform via a pliant pipe that is a conductor. 7 4. WARNINGS AND SECURITY INFORMATION WTC/4 C../EX scales observe the requirements of the group II, category 2 of devices compliant with 94/9/WE Directive and are marked - II 2 G IIB T4. Symbology description according to 94/9/WE Directive: - WTC/4 C../EX scales are intended to interior and outdoor operation. But it should not be exposed to active chemical vapours, extreme temperatures and huge humidity. Platform s construction is made of mild steel, stainless steel tensometers are made with IP68 (ingress protection rating)

8 Ambient temperature during operation: -10 C to +40 C. - Scales cannot be exposed to mechanical shocks or vibrations. WTC/4 C../EX scales can be installed and used only by a skilled, trained personnel. Scales should undergo periodical technical surveys. Gathering electrostatic charge should be avoided. Earthing wire (equipotential) needs to be always connected to the earthing terminal in PUE C/31H/EX indicator. Disconnecting of the earthing wire is forbidden. Equipotentialisation wire can be allowed only when the appearance of explosive gases is impossible. In case of any damage unplug the supply source, disconnect the supply cord and t hen move the device to the safe area for temporarily storage to prevent it from using until it is repaired. PUE C/31H/EX indicators has an intrinsic safety construction that comprise with the standards: PN-EN and PN-EN which is confirmed by KDB 06ATEX250 certificate. The indicator is supplied from ZRi02 power supplier made by RADWAG, placed outsider the hazardous area and compliant with: PN-EN and PN-EN standards - KDB 06ATEX251 certificate Platforms are equipped in ATEX certified load cells SB14 Ex made by Flintec - KEMA 02 ATEX 1123X certificate Non-electrical elements of the platform are made according to PN-EN standard. All repairs and maintenance work that require opening the indicator housing should be made by authorised service of RADWAG. Subassemblies should be substituted by original equivalents. If the scale is opened by unauthorised people all claims connected with warranty are forfeiture. - Any installation and maintenance work, that are at variance with this manual will cause forfeiture of all warranty claims

9 5. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION OF WTC/4 C../EX For WTC/4 C../EX platform scales prepare an appropriate place for installation. It should be dry, even and rigid. Acceptable operation temperature range -10 C to +40 C. The ground on which the platform is to be placed must be able to carry the maximal load together with the platform. WTC/4 C../EX scales are equipped in the indicator connected via ~3m cable. The indicator can be mounted on the table or installed on a wall by means of a handler. Scale should be unpacked outsider the hazardous area.. NOTICE!! Equipotentialisation is required for the indicator. The earthing wire should be connected to the terminal marked by. Before moving the scale to the place of operation prepare an earthing wire. This wire should be terminated with an eye and should be screwed to the indicator using M4 nut. Use tooth lock washer to assure a constant force of holding down. The equipotentialisation wire should be of yellow-green colour and minimal crosssection of 4mm². Install the device to the please of operation in the hazardous areas. NOTICE! Installing the platform and the indicator should be performer when the appearance of the explosive atmosphere is impossible

10 The way of earthing is shown below Weighings platform should be placed on an even, stable ground far from sources of hit and draughts. - Use an external large size level indication device to level the platform. - Use levelling feet to regulate the level. - If levelling is necessary proceeded as directed below: Set the level by turning feet. Then screw down the lock nuts to block the feet Place the power supplier outside the hazardous area Connect the (~20m) power supply cable to the DC IN socket in the PUE C/31H/EX indicator, 1 Power supply socket 2 Power supply socket 3 Earthing terminal 4 Tensometer cable 5 Power supply socket description

11 Before the first start make sure that there is no danger of explosion (no explosive gases). If there is any sign of inappropriate operation the scale should be unplugged from the power source and then move the device to the safe area for temporarily storage to prevent it from using until it is repaired. Connect the supplier to mains 230V AC Un case of prolonged not using of the scale unplug it from mains. Press ON/OFF to switch on the device keep pressing it for about 1 sec. Wait for the test completion, Then you will see zero indication and pictograms: - zero indication kg - weight unit - stable result

12 6. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE. Disconnect the ZRi02 power supplier from mains. Check the earthing connection quality. Clean the scale and the housing with a slightly moistened cloth. You can use typical domestic cleaning agents. For clearing an overlay of the indicator do not use agents that can mechanically scratch the surface. It includes an internal conductive layer that is important for save operation. Platform levelling feet and shock absorbers are made of rubber. Within the hazardous area they need to be cleaned with a slightly moistened cloth. Moisture protects against gathering electrostatic charges. Cleaning should be performed when there are no explosive gases in the atmosphere. There is forbidden to us concentrated acids, bases, solvents or alcohol for cleaning WPT/4P H/EX scales. There is also forbidden to use compressed air and high pressure washing equipment. 7. TECHNICAL SURVEYS. Technical surveys performed by the trained personnel at least once during every three months. During every survey following things should be checked: earthing quality: the quality of fastening to the housing and the resistance of connection - max. 100Ω, quality of the connection between the platform and the indicator (pliant steel pipe connecting the two subassemblies). The damage and loosing one of connection is inadmissible. electrical connection between the housing and the platform - max. resistance between the weight pan (put on) and the housing should be lower than 100Ω. stability and levelling of the scale

13 8. GETTING STARTED 8.1. Unpacking and placing The scale should be unpacked outside the hazardous area. Before moving the scale to the place of operation prepare a cable for earthing the device against electrostatic charges. Notice!! In order to protect against gathering electrostatic charge it is necessary to earth/zero the housing of the indicator. Connect the earthing lead/wire to the place marked with. See the manual for details about earthing. Situate the scale in a destination place and connect earthing/zeroing. NOTICE! Mounting the indicator, placing the weighing platform and earthing/zeroing should be performed when the explosive atmosphere cannot appear. Indicators with cable can be mounted on the rack, on the wall or on the table using a special holder. Weighings platform should be placed on even and stable ground far from sources of hit and draughts. It should be also levelled out using the feet Connecting of supplier 1. In case of not using the scale unplug it from the mains NOTICE: Scales with PUE C/31H/EX indicators can be supplied only from ZRi02 power suppliers II (2) G [EEx ib] IIC 06ATEX251 of RADWAG production, placed outside the hazardous area or another with identical parameters of the supply circuit (intrinsic safety)

Switching on Press the ON/OFF key keep pressing for about 1 sec After switching on wait for the test completion You will see the indication equal zero and following pictograms: - zero indication - equilibrium kg or g - weighing mode 9. CLEANING Ready to use. Cleaning can be performed only after unplugging from mains (230V AC). Use agents and materials that do not cause gathering electrostatic charges on elements of the supplier. Do not use abrasive agents and solvents because it can causa the damage of the casing....cleaning should be performed when the appearance of explosive gases is impossible. 10. SERVICE AND REPAIRING In case of any problems with appropriate operation of the indicator contact with the manufacturer s service or any authorised service of RADWAG. In case of any fault or dysfunction the device should be passed to the manufacturer s service or any authorised service of RADWAG or inform about it in order to settle the conditions of repair. Any intrusion (alteration, repair etc.) in the indicator or scale based on PUE C/31H/EX indicator by unauthorised persons will cause a forfeiture of validity of certificates, declarations and manufacturer s warranty

BROWSING USER S MENU User moves in the menu using the scale keyboard Keypad + + enter to the main menu inscribing tare value selection of parameter a menu level or change of active parameter value entering selected submenu or activation of a parameter for a change change confirmation leave a function without changes or move one level higher in the menu Return to weighing Introduced changes in the scale memory will be saved after return to weighing by the procedure of saving changes. Press several times F key until display indicates the message SAvE?. When display indicates question press PRINT/ENTER to confirm changes or F to cancel introduced changes. After pressing an appropriate key, scale will go back to weighing Return to weighing

20 17. WEIGHING Place a load on the weighing pan. After reaching stability the read weighing result. pictogram is marked, Tarring In order to determine a net mass place a package of load and when indication is stable press TARE key (mass indication will go back to zero, Net symbol will be displayed on the left side of the display). After placing a load, the display will indicate net mass. Tarring can be done repeatedly in full weighing range of the scale. When using tare function pay attention on not exceeding maximum weighing range. After removing the load and the package display will show indication of sum of tarred masses with minus sign

21 17.2. Inscribing tare value It is possible to inscribe a tare value. Procedure: Press simultaneously i You will see on the display : TARE select the digit position to set ZERO - select the digit value Using TARE and ZERO keys set the tare value, Press PRINT key, The scale returns to the weighing mode and the value of tare value is displayed with the ( ) sign (provided the scale pan is empty) Tare value can be inscribed any time in weighing mode Zeroing Zeroing display status is possible only in range up to ±2% of maximum scale capacity. If zeroed value is bigger than ±2% of maximum capacity display will show Err 2 message. The new zero point is treated by the scale as the precise zero. Zeroing is possible while stable status is shown on the display

22 17.4. Weighing for two range scales Switching from the I range to the II range appears automatically after exceeding the switching point value (Max of the I range). Weighing in the second range is signaled by a pictogram. Weighing in the second range takes place until unloading the pan. After taking off the load the indication returns to zero and the scale returns to the first range. The switching off appears after retuning to AUTOZERO zone the seen. pictogram can be Setting of basic unit for weighing This function allows us to set the weight unit from which the weighing procedure starts after turning on the scale. Enter P3 Unit submenu Press. you will see different units on the display

23 After selecting the unit press. The selected unit will start to blink. Selection: When the basic unit is set to [kg], users can toggle between: [kg, lb, N]. For verified scales [lb] is not accessible. When the basic unit is set to [g], users can toggle between: [g, ct] Save changes and return to weighing (see point return to weighing) NOTICE: The scale will start operation with a basic unit

24 17.6. Temporarily weighing unit This function allows users to chose the weight unit for indication. The unit will be valid until the scale is switched off. Procedure: Press F After confirmation the scale returns to weighing in a selected units. Possibilities of selection: When the basic unit is set to [kg], users can toggle between: [kg, lb, N]. For verified scales [lb] is not accessible. When the basic unit is set to [g], users can toggle between: [g, ct]

25 18. MAIN PARAMETERS Users can adjust the scale to external conditions (setting filters) or self requirements (autozero, tare value). These parameters can be found <P1 read> Adjustment of filtering level Procedure: - using select the filter value OFF filter switched off filtering levels to select Return to weighing (see ) NOTICE The higher filtering level the longer stabilisation time

26 18.2. Autozero In order to ensure precise indication AUTOZERO function has been introduced. The intended use of this function is automatic control and correction of zero indication of the scale. When function is active comparison of results takes place at assumed time intervals. If results differ by value smaller than declared AUTOZERO range e.g. one division, scale will be zeroed automatically, stable state will be marked and zero indication will be displayed. When AUTOZERO function is enabled, each result starts from precise zero. However there are some cases where this function can be disturb in measurements. It can be (e.g.) very slow load placing on the pan (e.g. load pouring) in such case correction system of zero indication can also correct indication of real mass of load. Procedure: AUTOZERO no autozero disabled AUTOZERO YES - autozero enabled Return to weighing (see )

27 18.3. Tare function operation This function enables setting appropriate parameters (depending on needs) to user for tare function. Procedure: AtAr no tarf - automatic tare function on and is stored in balance memory after unplugging it from mains Description of function operating point 11.4 automatic tare - automatic tare function off (user can turn on operating of automatic tare F6 AtAr till unplugging the balance from mains) - tare memory function stores last value of tare in balance memory. It is automatically displayed after starting the balance. Value of tare is displayed with minus sign, and there is Net symbol indicated on the display. (user can turn on operating of automatic tare F6 AtAr till unplugging the balance from mains) Return to weighing (see )

28 18.4. Median filter The rule of the median filter is to attenuate short lasting interference (e.g. mechanical shocks). Procedure: MEDIAN FILTER no - median filter disabled MEDIAN FILTER YES - median filter enabled Return to weighing (see )

29 19. MINIMAL MASS - S_LO It works for automatic functions. The rule is that no automatic tare will be performed until the indication drops below S_Lo value (gross). Procedure: Return to weighing (see )

30 20. OPERATION MODES Enabling operating modes (functions) In this group of parameters users declare functions they want to use after pressing F while in weighing mode. Enter P4 Func Setting functions His parameter enables the selection if users want to access all enabled functions by pressing F (ALL) or only one from the list. After selecting press PRINT the program will return to 4.1 FFun

31 Setting 4.1 FFun This function enables quick access to the selected functions. Return to weighing (see ) Counting pieces no mod disabled; YES mod enabled The standard solution is equipped with option of counting small pieces of the same mass. Counting pieces does not operate with other scale functions. It is possible to execute a tare function in this operating mode in order to tare a container value. Procedure: enter to PIECE function. press from key to start setting quantity of sample, you have a few options to chose

32 pressing key to choose of value (10, 20, 50pcs. or free) if you want to choose one of them e.g. 20pcs press picture and proceed as shown in the If the option FrEE was chosen, you must enter the quantity of sample, which will serve to determine the mass of a single detail

Return to weighing press F twice Notice: If an user presses the F key when details are not present on the pan, the message -Lowill be indicated for a few seconds and the scale will automatically return to weighing

36 20.4. Per cent deviation with reference to standard mass This program allows to measure deviation in per cent with reference to a standard mass. The standard mass can be estimated by weighing (PrcA function) or inscribed by a user (PrcB function) Control of % deviation referring to the inscribed standard mass. Procedure: Enter the function place an load on the pan which mass will be accepted as standard press PRINT to confirm this operating mode after few seconds the indication 100,00% will be displayed From this moment display will not indicate mass of weighed load but deviation of load mass placed on the pan referring to the mass of standard (in %)

37 Standard mass inscribed to scale memory Procedure: Enter function The display will show an indication as above: Using keys TARE selection of a digit to set ZERO - setting the value of the selected set value of mass of standard, enter it to scale memory using PRINT key display will indicate: 0,00% From this moment display will not indicate the mass of weighed load but deviation of the load mass placed on the pan referring mass of standard (in %) Return to weighing press F twice

38 20.5. Automatic tare This function is useful for fast net mass determination of weighed load in case when tare value of is different for each load. In case when the function is active the cycle of scales operating looks as follows: press zeroing key when the pan is empty place the container for pieces when indication is stable automatic tarring of the container mass will be performed (Net marker will appear in the upper part of the display) place a sample into the package display will indicate net mass of sample remove the sample together with the container display will indicate tare mass with minus sign place a container for the next sample. When indication is stable automatic tarring will take place (Net marker will appear in the upper part of the display) place next sample into the package Procedure: Leaving function press F twice

39 20.6. Measurement max force on the pan latch Confirmation of choice of top function is indication of the Max pictogram - apply a force to the weighing pan. The display of scale will latch the maximum value of the force - remove loads from the pan - before the next measurement press the 0 key Return to weighing press F twice

40 20.7. Totalizing Procedure: Enter the function You will see the indication as above: Place the first load on the pan After stabilising (P letter disappears) press PRINT, a sum of weighings will be displayed (signalled by pictogram in the right upper corner of the display) and the weighing will be printed out via RS232. Unload the pan, the indication will return to ZERO and letter P will appear. Put the next load on the pan. After stabilising (P letter disappears) press PRINT, a sum of weighings will be displayed (signalled by pictogram in the right upper corner of the display) and the weighing will be printed out via RS

41 In order to finish the procedure of totalizing press PRINT key again (with a load on the pan or after taking it off), a sum of weighings will be printed out via RS232: (1) kg (2) kg TOTAL: kg In case of the next pressing of PRINT with some load on the pan it will be signalled by unload unload the pan to return to ZERO. Letter P will appear. The scale is ready for the next totalizing procedure. In case of the next pressing of PRINT without any load on the pan, letter P will appear. The scale is ready for the next totalizing procedure. Return to weighing press F twice

42 The memory of the last sum of weighings After interrupting the procedure of totalizing (e.g. turning off the scale) it is possible to restart with the last sum of weighings. In order to do it, enter the function: You will see on the display the last sum of weighings from the memory. - In order to continue totalizing press PRINT, the indication will return to ZERO and the letter P will appear on the display. - Press F, 0, or TARE to finish the last the procedure. You will see the letter P on the display The scale is ready for the next totalizing procedure. - Press F 3 times to return to weighing. NOTICE: In case of overflowing of the display range the 5 FULL error will appear. In that case unload the pan and press PRINT to complete the process of totalizing with printing the last sum or place the lower mass on the pan that will not exceed the available range

43 21. USER S CALIBRATION (option) Confirmation of high accuracy of weighing requires periodical correcting calibration factors in the scale memory it is adjustment of the scale. Calibration should be performed when we start weighing or dynamic change of temperature occurs. Before starting calibration remove loads from the pan Calibration Procedure following inscriptions will appear A new start mass is adjusted during this period of time. After that a mass of calibration weight is shown (e.g kg). Put the calibration weight on the weighing pan and press PRINT Process of calibration will be performed. After completion of the process of calibration the following screen will appear - take off the weight, then the following sequence of screens will appear

44 return to weighing performing the procedure of saving parameters. Return to weighing (see ) Start mass adjustment If the scale does not require the full calibration process sit is possible to adjust only a new start mass. Procedure the display will show the following information after the completion of the start mass adjustment the following screen will appear

47 22. INTENDED USE The ZRi02 power supplier is powered up from mains (230V AC) is an accompanied device installed behind the hazardous area. This supplier is applicable only for supplying devices with intrinsic safety (as ignition protection) in the 1st or 2nd zone for explosive gas atmosphere (gases, mixtures of gases, mists) for the second explosion group. The ZRi02 power supplier is an accompanied device that can be installed only behind the hazardous area. Intended for indoor use. Protect against humidity. 23. CONSTRUCTION It consists of following components: Main board Plastic casing Power cord Supply cable (up to 20 m) terminated with a plug. The intrinsic safety of the device are assured by the following components: Mains transformer with a thermal fuse of the primary winding. It complies with the PN-EN 50020: 2005 standard. Resistor limiting current Zener barrier 23.1 SAFETY ANALYSIS ZMP RADWAG as a manufacturer, guarantee intrinsic safety of the device and completion with PN-EN 50014:2004 standard. Maximal output power (Po) is lower then 0,52W Some outlined soldering points are the subject of attendance.
