1 When Earthquake strikes WHEN SHAKING STOPS check yourself for any injuries. REMEMBER: have an earthquake readiness plan. WHAT TO DO DURING & AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE if trapped under debris, make as much noise as possible. cover your mouth with clothing. be careful not to move anything that might cause other debris to fall on you. covering your heads, calmly evacuate. proceed to the designated evacuation area in an orderly manner. locate a place that you can go to in case of an earthquake. it should be a spot where nothing is likely to fall on you. aftershocks may occur so be prepared to drop, cover, & hold. within the upm-pgh premises never go back to the building. report to the emergency response team other people that you have seen trapped or injured. 2 WHEN SHAKING BEGINS WHEN INDOORS: 1. Open the door or leave the door open to avoid entrapment 2. Keep calm and get under a sturdy table 3. Assume the Drop, Cover, and Hold position. If there is no sturdy furniture, sit down and assume a fetal position under a strong beam or column. Cover your head with both hands. WHEN IN A VEHICLE: Pull over to the side of the road and stop quickly. NEVER: DROP COVER Stay clear of tall objects. Stay as low as possible inside the vehicle. RUN PUSH HOLD Try to stay clear from windows, hanging fixtures, shelves, or anything that might collapse. WHEN OUTDOORS: Go to a clear and open place like parking lots. Stay away from tall objects that may collapse (trees, poles, streetlights, construction equipment, etc.). USE THE ELEVATOR RETURN

3 When Fire Starts STOP, Fire Safety DO s if the alarm sounds, exit the building immediately. if smoke is entering around the door, stuff damp sheets or blankets in the spaces. if possible, open a window and wave or hang a brightly colored towel or garment. DROP, & ROLL if your clothes catch fire: stop immediately. drop to the ground. WHAT TO DO WHEN FIRE IS ENCOUNTERED within the upm-pgh premises communicate with the evavuation team leader concerning information of possibly trapped victims and special needs of persons. roll over and over, back and forth until the flames are out. only take your keys and yourself to safety as soon as possible. always use the stairs. 4 ONCE SMOKE OR FIRE IS DETECTED 3. WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS 2. EXTINGUISH FIRE WHEN: 1. STAY CALM warn other persons in danger. inform the building marshall or communication officer call the up manila operator (02) and the security office near you. fire is controllable you know how to use a fire extinguisher you have a clear exit 4. EVACUATE CALMLY be sure to feel doors for heat before opening to make sure there is no fire on the other side. if there is smoke in the air, stay low to the ground. keep your hand on the wall and crawl to the nearest exit.

5 When you receive a Bomb Threat If there is an Explosion: 1 Take cover under sturdy furniture, or leave the building if directed to do so by emergency responders. REMEMBER: WHAT TO DO DURING A BOMB THREAT while in upm-pgh premises Stay away from windows. Do not light matches. Move well away from the site of the hazard to a safe location. Only use stairs Call your Building Marshall or Communication Officer and the UP PGH Police at local PREPARATION IS KEY. Take every step necessary to meet the threat. Bomb jokes or false bomb threat is a violation of Presidential Decree 1727 punishable with Five (5) years imprisonment or PHP 40,000 fine, or both. 6 1 2 3 If You Receive a Bomb Threat: Stay calm and keep your voice calm. Pay close attention to details. Talk to the caller to obtain as much information as possible. Take notes. Ten Things to ask: When will it explode? Where is it right now? What does it look like? What kind of bomb is it? Where did you leave it? Did you place the bomb? Who is the target? Why did you plant it? What is your address? What is your name? Observe the caller s: Speech patterns (accent, tone) Emotional state (angry, agitated, calm, etc.) Background noise (traffic, people talking and accents, music and type, etc.) Age and gender Write down other data: Date and time of call How threat was received (letter, note, telephone) Call your Building Marshall or Communication Officer and the UP PGH Police at local and submit your notes from the telephone call or the bomb threat (letter or note) to them. In Any Bomb Threat Situation: Check your work area for unfamiliar items. Do not touch suspicious items. Take personal belongings when you leave. Leave doors and windows open. Do not turn light switches on or off. Only use stairs. Do not use elevators.

7 After the flood BEFORE FLOODING OCCURS: Store food that need not to be cooked and with clear expiration date. When experiencing flood WHAT TO DO DURING FLOOD while in upm-pgh premises Make an inventory and report damaged equipment, infrastructure, and salvagable documents and materials. Get clearance from the CPDMO or authorized personnel before turning on the electricity. Help clean-up. Store potable water and emergency items such as candles, flashlights, etc. In high risk areas, store all important documents, equipment, and other materials in high places. 8 DURING THE FLOOD WHEN INDOORS: WHEN OUTDOORS: Drink only potable water. Eat safe, well-cooked food. Secure all important documents, equipment and other materials to higher places. Do not go out of the building. Proceed to higher floors. If necessary, turn off electrical supply. disconnect electronic devices from sockets if reached by the flood. Secure the building by closing all doors and windows, and turning off electricity before leaving. If you need to evacuate, find a safe route free of floodwater. if none, wait for assistance. Plan your movements and go to the nearest high building area. Look for a route that is free of floodwater. if none, make sure your feet are protected when walking on flooded areas. Clean your feet as soon as you reach your destination.

9 When a chemical spills IF IN DOUBT: GET OUT AND REPORT SPILLS IMMEDIATELY! WHAT TO DO DURING A CHEMICAL SPILL while in upm-pgh premises 7 8 Do not attempt to clean up a major spill. Contact the NPMCC and stand by in a safe location. Once the chemical spill is under control, the staff should wait for the signal to return to the workplace. 10 1 2 3 Cordon off the area to prevent access. If possible, identify the substance by checking containers surrounding the spill. Inform the supersivor of the incident. The supervisor will get in touch with the National Poison Management & Control Center (NPMCC) or local 2311 or cellphone number Once the area is declared safe, assist any injured persons by removing them from exposure, getting them to a safe area and help them seek medical attention. For chemical exposure to the skin: Immediately flush exposed area with water for at least 15 minutes. If no visible injuries are noted, remove all accessories. Soap the area. 6 For simple or minor spills, trained staff shall: Put on appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Contain spill with absorbent spill material. Clean up residues by sweeping, double bagging, sealing, and labelling for proper disposal. Keep the area ventilated and decontaminated. 4 Depending on the nature of the chemical, you might open the doors and windows to provide ventilation to the area. For chemical exposure in the eyes: Irrigate the eyes at least 15 minutes with water. Remove contact lenses if possible. For inhalational exposure: Transfer victim/s to an area with fresh air. Never attempt to enter an area where potentially dangerous contaminants might place you at risk. If clothing catches fire: Use the drop and roll technique or flush with cold water to extinguish fire on clothes. Remove contaminated clothing and cover the victim.
