4 R 28 6/06.98 Functional description, section, Model 2FRM 6 General: Flow control valve model 2 FRM is a pressure compensated, 2-way flow control valve. It is used to maintain constant actuator speed, independent of pressure and temperature. The valve is basically comprised of housing (), handknob (2), orifice (), pressure compensator (4) and an optional check valve. Flow control valve model 2FRM 6..-X/..MV (without external closing, without check valve) Flow from port to is throttled through orifice window (5). The throttle cross-section is varied by turning handknob (2). To maintain flow, independent of pressure, a pressure compensator (4) is included in port downstream of throttle (5). Compression spring (6) forces orifice () and pressure compensator (4) against their respective stops and holds pressure compensator (4) open when there is no flow through the valve. When fluid flows through the valve, pressure acting at port applies a force to pressure compensator (4) via orifice (7). The pressure compensator (4) moves into the compensating position until the forces balance. If the pressure in port rises, pressure compensator (4) moves in the closing direction, until a balance of forces is once more attained. Due to this continuous compensating action of the pressure compensator, a constant flow is maintained. However, this model of flow control valve is provided with an external port permitting the pressure compensator (4) to be controlled via port (9). The external pressure acting in port (9) via orifice (0) holds pressure compensator (4) closed against the force of compression spring (6).
