1 JPR Task(s): Roll Fire Hose OMMISSION ON FIRE PROTETION PERSONNEL STANDARDS AND EDUATION OMMONWEALTH OF KENTUKY FIREFIGHTER 1 OMPETENY EVALUATION andidate #: Skill No PERFORMANE RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS INSTRUTIONS TO THE ANDIDATE "The andidate, wearing PPE and provided a section of fire hose, shall demonstrate a straight hose roll and a donut hose roll." Minimum PPE: Helmet and Gloves PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 10 minutes to pass Straight Hose Roll 1. Lays hose out straight and flat. 2. Beginning with the male coupling, begin to roll the hose forming an even, uniform roll. 3. Roll increases in size and concludes with the female coupling finishing the outside. Donut Hose Roll 4. Lays hose out flat. 5. Begins near the center of the section, several feet nearer to the male end. 6. oils the hose, working toward the male end. 7. Upon reaching the male, takes the excess hose of the female end and wraps the roll covering the male coupling to complete the roll. 2 JPR Task(s): Loading Hose onto Apparatus OMMISSION ON FIRE PROTETION PERSONNEL STANDARDS AND EDUATION OMMONWEALTH OF KENTUKY FIREFIGHTER 1 OMPETENY EVALUATION andidate #: Skill No PERFORMANE RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS INSTRUTIONS TO THE ANDIDATE "The andidate, wearing PPE and provided with an assistant, shall demonstrate the assigned Accordion, Flat, or Horseshoe Hose Load with 4 sections of hose." Minimum PPE: Helmet and Gloves PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 15 minutes to pass 1. Starts the hose load in the bed, on edge, against the partition. 2. ontinues the load, front to back, on edge. 3. Ensures connections are tight, in line and arranged to deploy smoothly. 4. Transitions to the next tier, when appropriate, and continues until 4 sections are loaded. Flat Hose Load or 1. Starts the hose load with the male coupling in corner, hose flat, against the partition. 2. ontinues to load hose flat, front to back, working across the bed to opposite partition. 3. Ensures connections are tight, in line, and arranged to deploy smoothly. 4. Transitions to the next layer, upon reaching opposite partition, and continues until 4 sections are loaded. Horseshoe Hose Load 1. Starts the hose load in the bed, on edge, against the partition. 2. ontinues the load, on edge, around the perimeter of the bed, working to the middle. 3. Ensures connections are tight, in line, and arranged to deploy smoothly. 4. Transitions to the next tier, when appropriate, and continues until 4 sections are loaded. Minimum PPE: Full PPE with SBA PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 10 minutes to pass 1. onfirms order with officer to advance the line. 2. andidate goes on air before entering structure. 3. Shoulders adequate amount of hose line and advances to the fire floor. 4 OMMISSION ON FIRE PROTETION PERSONNEL STANDARDS AND EDUATION OMMONWEALTH OF KENTUKY JPR Task(s): Load and Deploy Pre-connected Hand line FIREFIGHTER 1 OMPETENY EVALUATION andidate #: Skill No PERFORMANE RITERIA AND INSTRUTIONS INSTRUTIONS TO THE ANDIDATE "The andidate, wearing full PPE and, provided a pumper, an assistant, and 3 sections of hand line hose, shall demonstrate loading for use and deploying a pre-connected hand line from the apparatus." Minimum PPE: Gloves and Helmet PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 10 minutes to pass 1. Attach female coupling to the discharge outlet. Flat Hose Load, 2. Lay the first length of hose flat on the hosebed next to the sidewall. 3. Angle the hose to lay the next fold adjacent to the first fold, continue building first tier. 4. Make a fold that extends approximately 8" beyond load point that is one-third the total length of the hose, this will later serve as a pull handle. 5. ontinue laying the hose in the same manner, building each tier with folds laid progressively across the bed. 6. Make a fold that extends approximately 14" beyond the load at a point that is approximately two-thirds the total length of the load. 7. omplete the load, attach the nozzle, and lay it on top of the load. Triple Layer Hose Load or, 2. Extend the hose in a straight line to the rear. 3. Pick up the hose at a point two-thirds the distance from the tailboard to the nozzle. 4. arry this hose to the tailboard. Using several firefighters, pick up the entire length of the three layers. 5. Begin laying the hose into the bed by folding over the three layers into the hose bed, fold the layers over at the front of the bed. 6. Lay them back to the rear on top of the previously laid hose. 7. ontinue to lay the hose into the bed in an S-shape configuration until the entire length is loaded. Optional: Secure the nozzle to the first set of loops using a rope or strap if desired. Minuteman Hose Load 2. Lay the hose flat in the bed to the front, lay the remaining hose out the front of the bed to be loaded later. 3. ouple the remaining hose sections together, attach nozzle to the male end. 4. Place the nozzle on top of the first length at the rear, angle the hose to the opposite side of the bed, and fold to the rear. 5. Make fold at the rear of the bed and angle the hose back to the other side and make a fold to the front. 6. ontinue loading hose to alternating sides of the bed in the same manner until complete length is loaded. 7. onnect male coupling of first section to the female coupling of the last section and lay remainder of first section in the same manner. Minimum PPE: Full PPE w/o SBA PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 10 minutes to pass 1. alls for hose line to be shut down. 2. Evaluator advises candidate to demonstrate straight stream 2. Adjusts nozzle to straight stream. 3. Opens nozzle fully and controls hose line. 4. Slowly closes nozzle to avoid water hammer. Evaluator advises candidate to demonstrate narrow fog stream 5. Adjusts nozzle to a narrow fog stream. 6. Opens nozzle fully, controls hose line, and achieves degree pattern. 7. Slowly closes nozzle to avoid water hammer. Evaluator advises candidate to demonstrate wide fog stream 8. Adjusts nozzle to a wide fog stream. 9. Minimum PPE: Full PPE w/o SBA PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 15 minutes to pass 1. onfirms order with officer to set up master stream device. 2. Assembles necessary tools, hose and appliances for set up. 3. With assistance, places master stream device (monitor) into position. 4. Secures device as necessary. 5. Deploys hose lines and connects to device. 6. Ensures connections are tight. 7. Sets nozzle to desired level, directs engineer to charge line(s). 8. Minimum PPE: Full PPE with SBA PERFORMANE andidate must successfully pass this skill in 10 minutes to pass 1. onfirms order with officer to attack vehicle fire, chock wheels at earliest convenience. 2. onfirms all crew members have full PPE and are breathing air. 3.
