The Galileo Sol is our ultimate dive computer, with limitless, new-to-the-industry features. The Galileo Terra model maintains many of the features of the Sol and all of the core technology of the Galileo platform, yet is targeted for the diver who prefers a more traditional pressure gauge on a hose, rather than hoseless gas integration. Exclusive Heart Rate Monitoring System: Galileo Sol is the first and only dive computer to have an integrated heart rate monitor, incorporating the heartbeat into the workload, and then tailoring the decompression calculations to your dive. UWATEC has teamed with Polar, world leader in heart rate monitoring instruments, to bring you this innovative technology. Each diver is unique and so is our core physiology. Body responses during a dive are not the same. With the heart rate monitor Galileo Sol is able to further sense your efforts and adapt itself to reflect the condition your body is reporting. Full-Tilt Digital Compass with Bearing Memory: A powerful navigational system with integrated digital compass that remains accurate regardless of inclination, a diving industry first. You can set a bearing to navigate to and from a desired destination both on the surface and underwater. Galileo keeps you on course with arrows and guides if you stray. It even displays markers at various degrees for square, triangular or reciprocal courses. Galileo stores the set bearings in the dive profile so you can review them on your PC after download. Extra-large Dot Matrix Display and Huge Memory: View pictures and charts during the dive; store images of dive sites and upload tables or messages for easy communication. Galileo stores the most recent 100 hours of diving in a 4-second sampling rate for download to your PC. PDIS (Profile Dependent Intermediate Stops) optimizes your dive in complete security. The PDIS option calculates an intermediate stop based on how much nitrogen uptake your body has endured, taking into account your current dive, previous dives and breathing mixes. This proposed stop allows you to reduce on gassing and slowly release nitrogen while you continue cruising along and enjoy your dive. PDIS is a unique scientific application from UWATEC, for safer, more optimized diving in both the recreational and technical arena. Hoseless gas integration: When used with a Smart transmitter you get tank pressure and true remaining bottom time (RBT) on the screen. Having true RBT allows you to enjoy the maximum amount of time at depth, safely ascending in the knowledge that you will arrive at the surface with at least the set gas reserve. The Aladin family is the most complete offer for recreational diving. The all new Galileo platform is our most recent state-of-the-art breakthrough and delivers the future of diving today. Galileo by UWATEC is as revolutionary for diving as Galileo Galilei s discoveries were for XVIIth century science. And science is the essence of Galileo. ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY BÜHLMANN ZH-L8 ADT (ADAPTIVE) ALGORITHM Intuitive and innovative, adaptive computers from UWATEC are a step ahead of standard computers. Using the Bühlmann ZH-L8 ADT mathematical algorithm, these computers adapt to diver behaviours and environmental conditions, accounting for such variables as workload, water temperature, ascent rate, even pulmonary shunt during surface intervals. MICROBUBBLE MANAGEMENT BÜHLMANN ZH-L8 ADT MB (ADAPTIVE MICROBUBBLE) ALGORITHM This variation of the Bühlmann algorithm enables divers to reduce the effects of microbubble build up. Microbubbles are tiny but potentially highly dangerous bubbles that can build up in a diver s tissues. Often present without visible symptoms, they could damage soft tissues and lead to decompression illness. The ZH-L8 ADT MB algorithm features six diver selectable microbubble suppression levels: from L0 (minimum microbubble reduction corresponding to the UWATEC ZH- L8 ADT algorithm) to L5 (highest degree of microbubble reduction). Divers can program the level of microbubble reduction according to their personal preference and diving environment. In practical terms, the diver will have either shorter no-stop times or deeper and longer decompression stops (level stops) than when diving with L0. As a consequence, the body will either take up less nitrogen, or will be able to off-gas more before returning to the surface, therefore reducing the amount of microbubbles present in the body at the end of the dive. MULTI GAS DIVING BÜHLMANN ZH-L8 ADT MB PMG (PREDICTIVE MULTI-GAS) Galileo Sol, Aladin TEC 2G and Smart TEC computers feature a predictive multi-gas algorithm (available as an upgrade on the Galileo Terra), which takes into account all planned gas switches throughout the dive. In the background, the algorithm also calculates the decompression schedule for the currently active gas only, so if you fail to switch to the deco gas at the planned depth, the computer can quickly revert to this calculation. This means the decompression schedule shown on the display gives you the actual total time of ascent. For your convenience, a gas switch is suggested automatically by the computer once you reach the planned switch depth, but the diver must confirm the switch manually. A switch can also be initiated manually at any time, giving you total flexibility in the use of the deco gas(es), always with an up-to-date decompression calculation. NITROX COMPATIBILITY All UWATEC dive computers are Nitrox compatible. Nitrox is the term used to describe breathing gases made of oxygen-nitrogen mixes with the oxygen percentage higher than 21%. Because Nitrox contains less nitrogen than air, there is less nitrogen loading on the diver s body at the same depth as compared to breathing air. However, the increase in oxygen concentration in Nitrox implies an increase in oxygen partial pressure (ppo2) in the breathing mix at the same depth, which can have toxic effects on the human body. UWATEC computers keep you safe from these potential negative effects: They have a maximum operating depth alarm alerting divers when the partial pressure of oxygen (ppo2) reaches the maximum allowed level (ppo2max). They track the exposure by means of the Central Nervous System Oxygen (CNS O2) clock. At levels of 100% and higher there is risk of long exposure effects, and consequently an alarm will be activated when this level of CNS O2 is reached. TRUE REMAINING BOTTOM TIME (RBT) CALCULATED WITH GALILEO SOL AND SMART GAS-INTEGRATED COMPUTERS The RBT is the time divers can spend at the current depth before needing to ascend in order to be on the surface with the minimum gas reserve as set in the dive computer (range is bar, default 40bar). Galileo Sol and Smart dive computers calculate the RBT by taking into consideration all parameters which affect the ascent, such as tank pressure, breathing rate, depth, ideal ascending speed, all incurring and upcoming decompression obligations and the set tank reserve. In addition, tank pressure is temperature compensated in order to correctly follow the diver during an ascent through thermoclines. Once all of these factors have been considered, Galileo Sol and Smart dive computers calculate the actual RBT, while constantly monitoring each variable and updating the calculation if needed to ensure that the RBT is always accurate. SMART TRAK AND INFRARED TECHNOLOGY Infrared technology allows divers to interface wirelessly and without hassle with a personal computer, for example to download their dive profiles. Smart TRAK is a dedicated software application which lets divers log, organize, analyze and print the details of each dive, taking advantage of the 4-second sampling rate in UWATEC dive computers memory; it also allows for customized dive computer settings, including features and alarms. This powerful, full-color software is supplied with every UWATEC dive computer and is compatible with Windows Vista. UWATEC also supports other platforms such as Windows CE, Macintosh and Palm OS with dedicated software. Free updates for all software are available for download at scubapro.com. INFRARED INTERFACE (IRDA) If your PC does not have an infrared port, this interface plugs into the USB port for quick and simple downloading from your UWATEC dive computer. This interface is also Macintosh-compatible without the need of special drivers when used with JTRAK version 1.1.4, available for download at scubapro.com.
