No action shall be taken involving any personal risk or without suitable training. Evacuate surrounding areas. Keep unnecessary and unprotected personnel from entering. Shut off all ignition sources. No flares, smoking or flames in hazard area. Do not breathe gas. Provide adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate. Put on appropriate personal protective equipment. If specialized clothing is required to deal with the spillage, take note of any information in Section 8 on suitable and unsuitable materials. See also the information in "For non- emergency personnel". Ensure emergency procedures to deal with accidental gas releases are in place to avoid contamination of the environment. Inform the relevant authorities if the product has caused environmental pollution (sewers, waterways, soil or air).
7 PAGE NO. 7 of METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP : Immediately contact emergency personnel. Stop leak if without risk. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment. Note: see Section 1 for emergency contact information and Section 13 for waste disposal. 6.4 REFERENCE TO OTHER SECTION : 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE 7.1 PRECAUTION FOR SAFE HANDLING : Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No Smoking. Use only non-sparking tools. Use only explosion-proof equipment. Use in a closed system Avoid using pure nickel. Corrosion of pure nickel in carbon monoxide atmospheres exceeds 50 mil/yr (1.27 mm/yr) at room temperature. Wear leather safety gloves and safety shoes when handling cylinders. Protect cylinders from physical damage; do not drag, roll, slide or drop. While moving cylinder, always keep in place removable valve cover. Never attempt to lift a cylinder by its cap; the cap is intended solely to protect the valve. When moving cylinders, even for short distances, use a cart (trolley, hand truck, etc.) designed to transport cylinders. Never insert an object (e.g, wrench, screwdriver, pry bar) into cap openings; doing so may damage the valve and cause a leak. Use an adjustable strap wrench to remove over-tight or rusted caps. Slowly open the valve. If the valve is hard to open, discontinue use and contact your supplier. Close the container valve after each use; keep closed even when empty. Never apply flame or localized heat directly to any part of the container. High temperatures may damage the container and could cause the pressure relief device to fail prematurely, venting the container contents. For other precautions in using this product, see section CONDITION FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATIBILITIES : SAFE STORAGE REQUIREMENTS KEEP AWAY FROM Store in accordance with local regulations. Store in a segregated and approved area. Store in accordance with local regulations. Store away from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials
