Because of he volumeric funcioning principle, he devices are almos compleely independen of viscosiy. he LABO elecronics fied o he device make available an elecronic swiching oupu (push-pull) wih adjusable characerisics (minimum/maximum) and hyseresis, which responds when an adjusable limi is fallen shor of or exceeded. 3 020 Handling and operaion Insallaion he VHZ flow measuremen device can be insalled anywhere in he pipework sysem. A run-in secion is no required. he direcion of flow may be freely chosen. I should be ensured ha no dir paricles (hread cuing swarf) can ge ino he flow space, as his could cause he blockage of he gearwheels. I may herefore be necessary o insall filers upsream of he flow measuremen device (mesh size 30 µm). Noe he swiching value can be programmed by he user via "eaching". If desired, programmabiliy can be blocked by he manufacurer. he ECI-1 device configuraor wih associaed sofware is available as a convenien opion for programming all parameers by PC, and for adjusmen. Operaion and programming he swiching value is se as follows: Apply he flow rae o be se o he device. Apply an impulse of a leas 0.5 seconds and max. 2 seconds duraion o pin 2 (e.g. via a bridge o he supply volage or a pulse from he PLC), in order o accep he measured value. When he eaching is complee, pin 2 should be conneced o 0 V, so as o preven uninended programming. 025 he device has a yellow LED which flashes during he programming pulse. During operaion, he LED serves as a saus display for he swiching oupu. In order o avoid he need o ransi o an undesired operaing saus during he each-in, he device can be provided ex-works wih a each-offse. he each-offse poin is added o he currenly measured value before saving. he offse poin can be posiive or negaive. Example: he swiching value should be se o 80 l/min. However, i is possible only o reach 60 l/min wihou problems. In his case, he device would be se using a each-offse of +20 l/min. A a flow rae of 60 l/min in he process, eaching would hen sore a value of 80 l/min. he limi swich can be used o monior minimal or maximal. Wih a minimum-swich, falling below he limi value causes a swichover o he alarm sae. Reurn o he normal sae occurs when he limi value plus he se hyseresis is once more exceeded. 4 Wih a maximum-swich, exceeding he limi value causes a swichover o he alarm sae. Reurn o he normal sae occurs when he measured value once more falls below he limi value minus he se hyseresis.
