5 Since a number of specimens can be used in more than one test, the total number of specimens needed for an initial submittal is less than the sum of the above list. For an initial submittal, the specimens needed would include the following: For Structural Fire Fighting Boots: 1 Label 1 copy of user information 1 copy of technical data package 31 pairs of boots (at least 4 pair size 9) 9 sole plates 6 ladder shanks 3 toe caps 1 yard each thread used in the construction of the boot For Proximity Fire Fighting Boots 1 Label 1 copy of user information 1 copy of technical data package 30 pairs of boots (at least 4 pair size 9) 9 sole plates 6 ladder shanks 3 toe caps 1 yard each thread used in the construction of the boot The total amount of the testing required will depend on the specific configuration of the model(s) being tested. In addition, for multiple models and variants using identical components, testing will be consolidated wherever possible to minimize cost.
