2 INTRODUCTION Our plant established in 2009, The Buzwair Industrial Gases plant operates a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) production facility in Doha. The plant comprises two product storage tanks with a total capacity of 200 metric tons of food grade liquid CO2 which can be used for carbonation of beverages in addition to food freezing and preservation. CO2 is also used for waste water treatment, water desalination and PH control and polymer processes. A certificate of analysis indicating the purity of the product accompanies every shipment to Buzwair customers.

5 APPLICATIONS OF CO2 Gas Plants produce Carbon dioxide in mainly two forms - Liquid and Solid. Solid CO2 is also known as "dry ice" and is used as refrigerants in food industry and for small shipments. CO2 is widely utilized during the storage and shipping of ice cream and other frozen foods. Some of the CO2 applications are listed below :- Fire Extinguishers. Beverage: This gas is used to make carbonated soft drinks and soda water. Solvent: Liquid CO2 is considered as a good dissolving agent for many organic compounds. Here it can be used to remove caffeine from coffee. Plants: Plants require CO2 to execute photosynthesis, and greenhouses can promote plant growth with additional CO2. ph Control: CO2 can be the best alternative for sulfuric acid which used in water treatment facilities to control alkalinity.

6 APPLICATIONS OF CO2 Pressured Gas: It is used as the cheapest noncombustible pressurized gas. Pressured CO2 are inside tins in life jackets. Compressed CO2 gas is used in paintball markers, air guns, for ballooning bicycle tires. CO2 Laser: The CO2 laser, a common type of industrial gas laser uses CO2 as a medium when mixed with helium and nitrogen. Chemical Industry: It is used as a raw material in the chemical process industry, especially for urea and methanol production. Metals Industry: It is used in the manufacture of casting influences so as to enhance their hardness. Medicine: In medicine, up to 5% CO2 is added to pure oxygen. This helps in provoking breathing and to stabilize the O2/CO2 balance in blood. Welding: CO2 Gas is used in the MIG/MAG metal inert gas & metal active gas and can be either used in 100% form know as a shielding gas for MAG welding or in a combination of CO2 and Argon mixtures known as MIG welding.

7 APPLICATIONS OF CO2 Mechanical refrigeration system: CO2 are absolutely ideal for the use of this product as a working fluid in vapor compression refrigerating machines and heat pumps. Polystyrene: CO2 is used for foam and Gypsum board blowing to become fire rated products. Sterilizing purposes: Ethylene oxide mixed with CO2 is mainly used to sterilize medical and pharmaceutical products that cannot support conventional high temperature steam sterilization - such as devices that incorporate electronic components, plastic packaging or plastic containers. Production of paints and varnishes: supercritical CO2 used in unicarb process for partial replacement of solvents. Dry ice products: which used for blasting, hospitals, biotech laboratories, pharmaceutical companies and restaurants.
