1 Procedure No.: SOP-0147 Page: 1 of 9 1. PURPOSE This procedure describes the minimum requirements concerning personal protective equipment for personnel who are exposed to areas or tasks where hazards cannot be completely eliminated or controlled. This procedure addresses: PPE hazard assessments PPE selection, fit, use, cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and storage Employee training and communication of requirements Medical clearance (for respirators) 2. DEFINITIONS Flame Resistant (FR)- Material that burns slowly or is self-extinguishing after removal of an external source of ignition. FR fabric must contain a label that the fabric meets the ASTM F ae1 standard. Flash Protection Boundary- Area around exposed energized electrical equipment where protective clothing must be worn to minimize burn injuries from electric arc flashes. Personal Fall Arrest System- Used to arrest an employee falling from a working level. It consists of anchorage point, connectors, body harness, and may include a lanyard, deceleration device, lifeline, or suitable combination of these. (PPE)- Equipment worn to protect the eyes, face, head, hearing, lungs, body, and extremities from injury or illness due to chemical exposure or physical hazards. PPE Program Administrator- Shall be qualified by appropriate training or experience, which is commensurate with the complexity of the program elements they will oversee, to administer the PPE activities and conduct the required evaluations of program effectiveness. 3. SCOPE This procedure applies to all BASF employees, contractors, and service personnel in Middle Georgia operations.

PROCEDURE Site/ unit management shall minimize employees exposure to workplace hazards by employing effective engineering controls and/or administrative controls where feasible. When hazards cannot be effectively controlled by these means, or during control implementation, PPE may be used to provide employees protection from workplace hazards. General Requirements A PPE administrator will be designated for each site/ unit to administer the PPE program. The PPE program will be reviewed periodically for effectiveness by the administrator. Loose clothing (such as long shirttails, loose sleeves, ties, etc.) will not be worn around moving machinery or rotating equipment. Full length pants and shirts which cover the waist and upper arms must be worn. Tank tops and shirts without sleeves will not be allowed. Continuous strap watchbands are prohibited. The use of personal knives for performing job related activities is prohibited. Refer to the Knife Policy procedure, SOP Seatbelts are required to be worn in all company vehicles and heavy equipment as well as personal, rented, and leased vehicles while on company business. Fall protection requirements are outlined in the "Fall Protection Guidelines" procedure. Refer below to the Selection Guide Table" which provides examples of different types of work performed in MIDGA. There are no areas or tasks that present a flash fire hazard in Midga, No hazard assessment is required. 4.1 Head Protection Hard hats shall be worn at all times upon entry into the plant, mine, shop, or stores area. (Exceptions include designated break areas, offices, laboratories, operator control rooms, restrooms and while operating mobile equipment which has an enclosed overhead steel canopy). Hard hats will not be altered in any way and the headband must be kept intact at all times.

Hardhats will never be worn backwards 4.2 Eye Protection All employees are required to wear approved industrial safety glasses with full cup or semi-flat fold side shields while performing their job. (Except office areas) Contact lenses are not allowed except in office areas. (Special consideration will be given to employees who must, for medical reasons, wear contact lenses. In these special cases, appropriate protection must be worn). Goggles and face shield are required when there is potential for splash or spray of corrosive or toxic material. (Googles/ Face Shields used in labs can be reviewed for need. Reference the MSDS sheet and details to evaluate the need. Consult with EHS if questions arise). Goggle head bands shall be placed on the head when in use, not on the brim of the hard hat. This can cause the goggles to slip off when in use. Refer to the Safety Eyewear Policy procedure, SOP Hand and Finger Protection Gloves shall be worn except when the use of gloves would be unsafe, or the employee is performing precision work where there is no hazard to the hands. No rings or any other "finger jewelry" shall be worn by an employee who is engaged in work in or around the plants, mines, shops, yards, and while operating company equipment. Natural rubber latex gloves are strictly prohibited unless no other substitute is proven effective. Refer to the MIDGA Glove Policy procedure, SOP Protective Footwear

4 Procedure No.: SOP-0147 Page: 4 of 9 All employees who must enter any plant/mine, production, construction, laboratory, or maintenance area must wear steel-toe protective footwear. Steel-toe protective footwear must meet ASTM/ANSI Z standards. Refer to the Protective Footwear Policy procedure, SOP Respiratory Protection Whenever respiratory protection is required, all elements of SOP-0123 Midga Respiratory Protection Program must be met. Dust mask may be used on a voluntary basis. 4.6 Hearing Protection Ear plugs or ear muffs must be worn in designated high noise areas. BASF employees - refer to the MIDGA Noise Protection Program procedure, SOP Contractors shall have an established Noise Protection Program that is in compliance with MSHA's Part 62 regulations. 4.7 Electrical Safety Protective clothing and equipment for electrical tasks shall provide effective protection based on the task performed. Please refer to SOP-0140 Electrical Safety Procedure. 4.8 Fall Protection A personal fall arrest system shall be used by personnel where there is a potential of falling a distance of 6 feet. The employee shall be trained on proper use and shall inspect the personal fall arrest system before use for fatigue or damage. Fall protection shall be used inside any man lift. Please refer to SOP-0111 Fall Protection Guidelines. Selection Guide Table Note: The information in this table is not an all-inclusive list of different types of work or personal protective equipment. It provides only the minimum recommended personal protective equipment additional to hard hat, safety glasses, and protective footwear. Individual departments establish additional guidelines where specific hazards or environmental conditions warrant additional protection. For specific job applications, personnel should seek additional guidance, contacting their area leader and/or safety

Review MSDS Refer to chemical handling and unloading procedures Approved glove* Welding helmet As required: leather apron and sleeves Face shield and goggles * Refer to the MIDGA Glove Policy for the appropriate approved glove. 4.9 Hazard Assessment A hazard assessment must be performed for each site / unit by personnel trained in safety and health recognition to determine the need for and proper selection of PPE. The hazard assessment is a written certification that identifies: The workplace evaluated. The person certifying that the evaluation has been performed.

6 Procedure No.: SOP-0147 Page: 6 of 9 The date of the hazard assessment. The document as a certification of hazard assessment (per 29 CFR (d)- U.S. Locations only). A reassessment of hazards is required whenever there are changes in the workplace or work practices to determine if previous PPE selection is appropriate PPE Use and Inspection Each article of PPE must be inspected prior to use for defects. PPE that does not pass inspection must be immediately discarded or repaired in accordance with manufacturer s specifications. The manufacturer s recommendation for donning and doffing PPE must be followed to ensure proper fit and protection. Protective clothing and equipment that may contain residual contamination should never be worn into offices or home. 5. RESPONSIBILITIES All personnel are responsible for properly wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment and understanding and implementing the requirements of this procedure. OS/ IH CoE Manager- Primary responsibility for initiation, reissuance, administration, and/ or interpretation of this procedure. Site/ Unit Manager- Primary responsibility of the implementation of this procedure within their site/ unit EHS Hub Manager- Primary responsibility for ensuring implementation of this procedure at the sites covered by their EHS hub. BASF EHS Department Employees Evaluate and specify the right PPE types for job performances. Track regulating changes applicable and address. Properly wear and maintain their PPE. Inspect PPE before each use for defects and remove from service when found defective. Understand and implement the requirements of this procedure.

7 Procedure No.: SOP-0147 Page: 7 of 9 Ensure proper use; Donning/Doffing proper fit, cleansing and maintaining personal protective equipment; Identifying hazards during inspection and use of PPE; Removing PPE from service when found defective. Ensure no PPE that may contain residual contamination is not to be worn into offices, control rooms, and lunch rooms. As some areas of the MidGa site share areas; control rooms and break/lunch areas, PPE should be kept separated to ensure no cross contamination occurs. Area Management Maintain continuous workplace monitoring to support and enforce use personnel protection. Ensure personnel receive instruction on properly: using, Donning/Doffing proper fit, cleansing and maintaining their personal protective equipment; Identifying hazards during inspection and use of gloves; Removing PPE from service when found defective. Ensure no PPE that may contain residual contamination is not to be worn into offices, control rooms, and lunch rooms. As some areas of the MidGa site share areas; control rooms and break/lunch areas, PPE should be kept separated to ensure no cross contamination occurs. Purchasing/ Stores Maintain adequate inventory of approved PPE. Administer PPE issuance policy. 6.
