13 Integrated Training: DCS and Field Instrumentation Simulator The DCS (Distributed Control System) is connected to the PCI Training Simulator The DCS sends and receives 4-20mA signals to control the level of TANK2 A control loop is used to control the inflow to TANK2, by opening and closing VLV001 The outflow of TANK2 can be varied by adjusting the manual outlet valve Proportional, Integral and Derivative (PID) settings can be changed to control the PV (Process Value) of the level at the SV (Set Value) A disturbance to the control can be created by adjusting the outlet valve
