Keep hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry, or long hair increases the risk of injury to persons as a result of being caught in moving parts. Keep hands and feet clear of mov- ing parts. The Lifting Arm Assembly (37) can cause injury to hands. The Platform (2) can cause injury to feet. Keep hands and feet clear of all moving parts of this tool during operation. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables better control of the tool in unexpected situations. Risk of Electric Shock. This tool is not provided with an insulated gripping surface. Contact with a live wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool live and shock the operator. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, g. ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded. Explore the work piece to avoid contact with hidden wiring. Thoroughly investigate the work piece for possible hidden wiring before performing work. Contact with live wiring will shock the operator. h. Do not ride on this tool. Do not use this tool as a step ladder, nor as a work platform. Lower the Platform (2) to its low- est position when this tool is not in use. i. Tool use and care a. Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for the application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which the tool is designed. b. c. Do not use the tool if the Foot Levers (19 or 22) do not function properly. Any tool whose controls do not work properly is dangerous and must be repaired. When the tool is idle, store it out of reach of children and other untrained persons. A tool is dangerous in the hands of untrained users. d. Maintain the tool with care. A properly maintained tool, reduces the risk of binding and is easier to control. Check for misalignment or bind- ing of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that affects the tool s operation. If damaged, have the tool serviced before using. 5 Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles, heavy-duty work gloves and steel-toe boots during use. Center load on Platform. Do not exceed 300 lb. capacity. Be aware of dynamic loading! Dropping or bouncing load may briefly create excess load causing product failure. Use only on flat, level, surface capable of supporting load. Inspect before use; do not use if any parts are loose or damaged. This lift is not to be used for any aircraft purpose. When work is completed, lower lift and remove motorcycle. Do not use this lift to store the motorcycle. Read this manual before use. Do not stand on Platform or use the Scissor Lift for lifting people or animals. Save these instructions. Press the Release Foot Pedal (22) to lower the Platform (2). Initial Tool Set Up/ Assembly Read the entire Important Safety Information section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. Note: For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages, refer to the Assembly Diagram near the end of this manual. Unpacking When unpacking, check to make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number shown throughout the manual as soon as possible. Assembly Before first use, you must install the Lift Foot Pedal (19) to the Hydraulic Pump (16). Insert the end of the Lift Foot Pedal into the opening in the Pump. Fasten in place using Bolt (35) and Washer (34). Tighten firmly. If, on first use, the tool does not lift or fades, it may be necessary to bleed the Hydraulic Pump (16). Please see bleeding instructions on page 8. Operating Instructions Read the entire Important Safety Information section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. Inspect tool before use, looking for damaged, loose, and missing parts. If any problems are found, do not use tool until repaired. Tool Set Up To prevent serious injury: Do not adjust or tamper with any control or component in a way not specifically explained within this manual. 7 Work Piece and Work Area Set Up 4. Designate a work area that is clean and well-lit. The work area must not allow access by children or pets to prevent injury and distraction. The floor in your work area must be smooth and hard, capable of supporting the weight of the tool and any load you will place on it. Secure motorcycles using the supplied Springs and additional straps or clamps (both not included). General Operating Instructions Test the lift before using it to raise a motorcycle. If the lift does not raise properly or fades after lifting, it may be necessary to bleed the Hydraulic Pump (16). Please see bleeding instructions on page 8. Place the Lift on a solid and level floor. Keeping hands and feet clear of moving parts, press the Release Foot Pedal (22) to lower the Platform (2). Move the motorcycle over the lift. Press the Lift Foot Pedal (19) several times to make the Platform (2) contact the bottom of the motorcycle The Lift can be locked into any of four heights by passing the Locking Bar (32) through holes in the Base Frame (28). Perform the desired work on the motorcycle. To lower the Lift, press the Lift Foot Pedal (19) lightly to remove strain from the Locking Bar (32). Remove the Locking Bar (32) from the Base Frame (28) by pulling it straight out. Press the Release Foot Pedal (22) lightly to controllably lower the vehicle. While holding the motorcycle steady, release the Springs (9) and any other devices holding the vehicle. Move the motorcycle away from the Lift and secure it properly. To prevent accidents, keep the Platform in its lowest position when not in use. Clean external surfaces of the tool with clean, dry cloth. Then store the tool indoors out of children s reach Secure the motorcycle in place using the Springs (9). Check to be sure the motorcycle is securely fastened and will not topple when lifted. Use additional straps or clamps as needed. Press the Lift Foot Pedal (19) repeatedly to lift the motorcycle to the desired height. SKU For technical questions, please call Page 7

8 User-Maintenance Instructions Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician. To prevent serious injury from tool failure: Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise, vibration, or leaking hydraulic fluid occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. Bleeding the Hydraulic Pump Place the Scissors Lift on a flat and level surface. Wipe the fill plug and its surrounding area at the side of the Reservoir (P4). With the tip of a flat tip screwdriver pry and remove the rubber fill plug. Pour fresh and clean hydraulic jack oil into the Reservoir (P4) until it starts to overflow. Step on the Release Foot Pedal (22) and allow the Platform to be lowered completely. While holding the Release Foot Pedal (22) down, rapidly pump the Lift Foot Pedal (19) at least five full strokes. This should purge the air out of the system. Repeat step 4 above to make sure that the Reservoir (P4) is filled with oil Wipe the plug and place its edge against the fill-hole and while applying thumb force behind the plug, work the rubber plug into the fill-hole with the aide of the flat tipped screwdriver. After the plug is inserted, wipe off spilled oil from jack exterior with a clean and dry rag. Wash hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. CAUTION: DO NOT operate the jack when the Filler Plug (P5) is removed. Cleaning, Maintenance, and Lubrication Note: These procedures are in addition to the regular checks and maintenance explained as part of the regular operation of the air-operated tool. Daily - Exterior Inspecation: After completing of each use, visually inspect for damage and fix it. Weekly - General Maintenance: Every day, wipe down the tool, and check for damage or loose fasteners. Repair as needed. Performing routine maintenance will allow the tool to operate more safely and will also reduce wear on the tool. Quarterly (every 3 months) - Tool Disassembly, Cleaning, and Inspection: Check the oil level in the reservoir. Top it off with a good quality hydraulic oil. Follow all safety precautions whenever diagnosing or servicing the tool. Disconnect air supply before service.
