1 Cabin Information Letter SUBJECT: Revised Planned Evacuation Checklist and Announcements for the ERJ-135 NO: AUTHOR: Inflight Services DATE: 08/14/17 Applicable to all Flight Attendants - This CIL is intended to provide all Flight Attendants with the revised planned evacuation checklist and announcements for the Embraer Regional Jet (ERJ-135). OVERVIEW: EVACUATION CHECKLIST Chapter of the Flight Attendant Manual (FAM) outlines the planned evacuation checklist (abbreviated) for the ERJ-135 and contains references to other chapters for the FAM. These references are not accurate and should not be used. The next revision to the FAM will be updated to reflect the following: ERJ-135 PLANNED EVACUATION CHECKLIST Abbreviated No matter how much time you are given to prepare, complete the Checklist in order, and as promptly as possible. The situation may change at any moment so you must work efficiently and as thoroughly as possible. Upon further review, it was determined that these announcements could be enhanced to provide Flight Attendants and passengers with more detailed information/instructions on how to facilitate either evacuation should the need arise. The next revision to the FAM will be updated to reflect the following: Emergency Announcement (Land) A. Per Step 3 of 11.26, you will make the following announcement for a planned land evacuation: Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please. If you are out of your seat, please return to it immediately. If passengers are sleeping next to you, please awaken them. I have an important announcement. The Captain has just advised me that due to, it will be necessary to prepare for an emergency landing. As a precautionary measure, I will now give you instructions in preparation for a safe and orderly evacuation should it become necessary. Your entire crew has been thoroughly trained to effectively handle this situation. Please listen carefully, and follow my instructions as we have limited time to prepare. Stow your carry-on items either under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment. Fasten your seatbelts. At this time, please remove the Safety Briefing Card located in the seat pocket in front of you and follow along as we review the safety features of this aircraft. NOTE: You must hold up the Safety Briefing Card. This aircraft has four (4) emergency exits. The main cabin door through which you entered and the service door in the galley (point to the doors) which are opened by rotating the handle as indicated by the arrows on the door.

3 There are also two (2) window exits which are opened by removing the cover and pulling the handle inward. Please take a moment to locate the exits closest to you, keeping in mind it might be behind you, and then study the briefing card which shows how to operate. If you will be exiting through a window, step through foot first. Once outside the aircraft follow the directional markings on the wing. There are lights in the aisle, in the event that visibility is reduced, these exit path lights will direct you to the exits. White lights lead to red lights which indicate you are at an exit. NOTE: You must point to the location of the floor level emergency lighting. Just before touchdown you will be instructed to brace. To brace, sit back in your seat as far as possible, tighten your seatbelt low across your hips and place your feet flat on the floor just forward of the seat. Lean over at the waist and wrap your arms around your legs at the knees. There is another position you may assume by crossing your arms on the seat back in front of you. Place your head on your wrists. Please pay attention as I demonstrate the brace positions. Once you have been given the signal to brace, it is extremely important that you remain in that position until the aircraft comes to a complete stop and you hear further instructions. TIME PERMITTING: Please assume the brace position now while I check to see that you are correctly assuming the appropriate position. TIME PERMITTING: At this time I want to be certain that you can open your seatbelt quickly. Open your seatbelt now! If a seatmate cannot open their seatbelt, please assist. Now fasten your seatbelts and keep them fastened until you are instructed to open seatbelts. Once instructed to open seatbelts, move quickly to the nearest exit. If that exit is blocked, quickly move to an alternate exit assume the brace position now while I check to see that you are correctly assuming the appropriate position. Do not take anything with you! Leave everything! Once outside the aircraft, quickly move a safe distance away. Stay together. Do not attempt to re-enter the aircraft. We realize that this is an extenuating circumstance however, no smoking is allowed during or immediately after the evacuation. There may be flammable substances in the vicinity. While I continue to prepare the cabin, please study the briefing card. Take a moment now to introduce yourselves to one another and be prepared to assist others to the exit should your assistance be necessary. Please open all window shades for the remainder of the flight. Shortly I will be available in the cabin to answer any questions you may have, however at this time I will be enlisting the assistance of several passengers. Thank you for your attention.

4 Emergency Announcement (Ditching) A. Per Step 3 of 11.26, you will make the following announcement for a planned water landing (ditching): Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please. If you are out of your seat, please return to it immediately. If passengers are sleeping next to you, please awaken them. I have an important announcement.
