1 Course Code: SKTK2711 (Fluid Mechanics Total Contact Hours: 2 hours X 14 weeks Page : 1 of 5 Lecturer : Dr Syed Anuar Faua ad Syed Muhammad Room No. : N01a Telephone No. : syed@utm.my Synopsis : The aim of this laboratory course is for students to conduct experiment in conjunction with the theory course SKKC 2233 (Fluid Mechanics). There are a total 7 experiments for this course where two of them (Bourdoun Tube pressure gauge and Toricelli s Law), students needs to construct and setup by their own based on the fundamental knowledge and literature finding. Other experiments include the operation of flow measurement equipment (Ventruri nozzle, pitot tube, orifice and nozzle), flow through a piping system to determine major and minor loses. The lab runs closely with the lectures observation in such a way that experiments support the text covered in the class room. LEARNING OUTCOMES No. Course Learning Outcome Programme Outcome Taxonomies (C, P, A) Weightage (%) Assessment Methods CLO1 Ability to perform procedure of finding metacentric height and stability assessment of floating devices. CLO2 Ability to operate flow measuring equipment (Orifice, Pitot tube and Venturi nozzle) for discharge coefficient comparison from each equipment. CLO3 Ability to operate fluid friction apparatus for determination of minor losses in pipe fixed section connected with various fittings and valves. CLO4 Ability to operate fluid friction Prepared by: Name: Dr Umi Aisah Asli Signature: Date: Certified by: (Course Panel Head) Name: Signature: Date:
