1 Mandatory rules for our high risk activities

2 Remember... Only undertake activities for which you are trained, competent and authorised to do Before you start a job take a step back, think about all the risks and which apply to your situation and implement controls Monitor and manage changes as they happen while you are completing works, and challenge anyone you see not following the If you are unsure of the safe way to do a task or how to apply the, you must stop the job and ask for assistance from your team leader or supervisor Our are mandatory rules which provide absolute clarity about what is expected when conducting high risk activities that could result in serious injury or fatality. We will not negotiate on our because nothing is more important to us than the safety of our people, contractors and community. Sue Murphy Chief Executive Officer Name: are mandatory for all Water Corporation employees, together with all supporting controls referred to in this booklet. The principles of apply to contractors, sub-contractors and their employees. Where marked with a # the documents referred to in this booklet are mandatory contractual requirements. 01

3 Hierarchy of Control Hierarchy of Control When deciding how to control a risk, you should always aim to eliminate the hazard altogether. When elimination is not possible, work through the hierarchy with your team and select the next option that will effectively control the hazard. Use more than one option from the list to reduce the risk as much as you can. You can also help create a safer way of working for everyone by giving feedback to those that control the planning, design and construction of our assets they need your input to help make your work safer. By providing feedback on better ways to control the hazards to the designers, job planners, schedulers, managers, etc you are helping to reduce the risks for future works. Can you ELIMINATE the hazard altogether? Can you SUBSTITUTE the hazard with a safer alternative? Can you ISOLATE the hazard from anyone who could be harmed? Can you use ENGINEERING controls to reduce the risk? Can you use ADMINISTRATIVE controls to reduce the risk? Can you use PPE to protect yourself from the hazard? Most effective 02 03
