HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION The major hazard of Isoflurane is its anaesthetic properties which will ultimately result in unconsciousness if a person is exposed to high concentrations. 4. FIRST AID MEASURES OBTAIN IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION Treatment for inhalation over exposure should be given to any patient who has been exposed to Isoflurane. Accompany or transport patient to a medical centre, do not allow the patient to walk alone. Inhalation: Skin Contact: Eye Contact: Ingestion: Remove patient from exposure. Remove contaminated clothing. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Obtain medical attention. Immediately irrigate with eyewash solution or clean water, holding the eyelids apart, for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention.

2 2 of 5 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Extinguishing Media: Not required - Isoflurane is not flammable. Special Hazards: Special Protective Equipment for Fire-Fighters: Possibility of thermal decomposition products such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrofluoric acid and hydrochloric acid under high temperature conditions. Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal Precautions: Remove all personnel from the area. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus or a breathable air supplied respirator together with protective clothing. Environmental Precautions: Do not allow to enter natural waters or soil. HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling: Do not breathe vapour. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Provide adequate ventilation, including appropriate local extraction to ensure that the defined occupational exposure limit is not exceeded. Storage: Keep container tightly closed and in a well ventilated place. Keep away from direct sunlight and maintain temperature at less than 30ºC. 8. Carcinogenicity : No tumour production was found in a 2 year study in rats at a concentration of 1,000 ppm. Mutagenicity : Negative in the AMES test, in a sex-linked recessive lethality test in drosophilia melogaster and in a test for chromatid exchanges in Chinese hamster ovary cells. Reproductive Toxicity : Maternal toxicity, fetotoxicity, cleft palette and impaired reproductive performance reported in animal studies at concentration of 600 ppm or more. 12.
