1 WEEKLY COMPANY DRILL LOST SCBA This is a great drill for knowing how familiar you are with your SCBA and its components. It will help you to enhance your readiness to trouble shoot your SCBA in a crisis situation or that of a fellow firefighter's. This is more of an individual drill in regards to skill, but it is one you can do anywhere and pretty much anytime. Keep in mind that this is not a RIT or Mayday drill. Instructions Any room or space will work where you can hide an SCBA. Tangle the straps, unsnap parts, and make it un-normal without altering its functionality. Don't make it too difficult. Activate the PASS alarm. Send in a firefighter with a blacked out condition. Make him find the SCBA by the sound of the PASS alarm, make it functional, put it on and egress the area. The firefighter should be on air as he egresses.

CO-Designates a Company Officer JPR FF-Designates a Firefighter JPR DO-Designates a Driver/Operator JPR NFPA JPR: NFPA 1404 Standard for Fire Service Respiratory Protection Training; Associated Classroom Hours (if applicable): 1 Hour Lecture Air Management Job Performance Requirement: : This drill is to establish awareness of each firefighter s working air. This is critical to establish guidelines as a company for air management. While performing this skill discussion should be about understanding working time in and IDLH and the awareness to begin your egress or exit prior to the low air alarm going off. We will use this information in later drills. JPR and Designate Skill to be Completed Reference Standard Time Properly dons all PPE and checks partner. Records starting air pressure in each SCBA. Performs simulated work and tasks to increase air consumption. Records time for each firefighter at the time the low air alarm sounds. Firefighter will stay at rest or minimal work until all air is consumed from the cylinder. They will practice air conservation techniques at this point in the drill. The company officer must document methods used and results. Record the time when all air is consumed. Document times and forward to training division.
