2 Inroducion. Our producs are manufacured o he UK s and European s highes sandards and o he Qualiy sandards, ISO 9001:2000. Marsh Indusries Limied, occupies a unique posiion in he field of reinforced plasics, having he echnical experise and experience gained from over 30 years in he Consrucion Indusry in he Unied Kingdom. he experience places Marsh Indusries in a posiion o offer an advanced range of superior producs and sysems o mee he requiremens of is cusomers Our produc range can be pu ino service immediaely as is pre-commissioned, once he insallaion insrucions have been fully complied wih. hey should be checked once he elecrical connecion is compleed, o ensure ha i is running correcly. For sewage plans you should hear a hum from he blower and here will be bubbles of air coming up hrough he waer. If he elecrical connecions are no compleed correcly, he sysem will no run and a criical failure may resul. Always refer o he elecrical drawings in his handbook and supplied wih he sysem. In he case of sysems no being wired up correcly, warranies will be null & void. P Sewage & Sepic ank Ranges Only Please Do. Ensure ha all of he informaion conained in he handbook is adhered o a all imes. he end user (no he purchaser) of he plan is responsible for he operaion and mainenance of he sysem and is discharge eiher direc o a waercourse or hrough a percolaion area. I is imporan ha he produc is operaed under he condiions for which i is designed. Any variaion in hese condiions could lead o he uni no performing o is full poenial and he discharge may no mee he required sandards. Ensure ha he sysem has been insalled correcly, in accordance wih he manufacurers specificaions. Ensure ha he air blower has been wired up, by a compeen elecrician. Pre-Commissioned plan: Once i is pu ino use (plumbed o he house and elecrical wiring compleed) i is now up and running. Check ha here is a hum from he blower and ha here are bubbles rising from he middle chamber. Mainain he sysem in accordance wih secion his handbook. Servicing is mechanical only, and does no include de-sludging (empying of he sysem). You mus desludge he sysem in accordance wih he guidelines laid down in his handbook. Soak ways, drains and he empying of primary anks remain he responsibiliy of he clien and damage o he insallaion due o he influx of surface waer or he backing up of soak ways or drains is no covered by his service agreemen. Selec a suiable locaion for he sewage plan (s). his will be normally a a ground level lower han he properies being drained and allow for he falls in sie drainage. Check ha no oher srucure or special access is required over he seleced spo. Check ha no underground cable, pipe or service duc, lies underneah. In normal o good ground condiions he plan requires a 150mm Concree Base wih a 150mm pea-shingle surround o he op of ank. Excavae he minimum opening in he ground o receive he plan and pipe work o be used. his opening should be 150mm wider and deeper han he sewage plan in normal/good ground condiions. he sides of he excavaion should be baened for sabiliy. Fill wih clean waer o overcome he effec of buoyancy as you pour he pea-shingle surround consolidaing around he base of he plan. Place furher pea-shingle as before, a leas 150mmm hick around he chambers or shafs. In areas of high waer, shifing running sand or waer logged sies a polyehylene membrane mus be fied beween a 250mm hard core base and he concree. A dewaering pump mus be used o conrol any ground waer presen unil he concree backfill is se. In we or high waer able sies/ground condiions he plan requires a 250mm Concree Base wih a 250mm concree surround o he op of ank. Excavae he minimum opening in he ground o receive he plan and pipe work o be used. his opening should be 250mm wider and deeper han he sewage plan in hese ground condiions. Place in posiion he mass concree base, minimum hickness 250mm of CP 25Kn/mm 2 srengh. Lower he pump chamber ono he damp concree allowing he base o sele in, ensuring ha he inle and oule pipes are correcly aligned. Fill he anks evenly from boh ends of each uni, or in muliple chambers hrough each urre evenly. Wih clean waer o overcome he effec of buoyancy as you pour he concree consolidaing he concree around he base of he plan. Place furher mass concree, as before, a leas 250mmm hick around he chambers o jus below he op of he pipe connecions. Consolidae he concree, being careful no o damage he ank or ank inle/oule pipes. Where here are muliple anks here mus be a minimum of 450mm disance beween he anks his 450mm void mus be filled wih concree during he pouring. Do no under any circumsance use vibraing pokers. Use warning signs around he access urres. Connec up he sie pipe work o he inle and oule of he plan, and draw he cables and nylon diffuser ubing hrough he ducing from he pump/s diffuser and high level alarm if included. Ensure he sewage plan is fully venilaed connecing 110mm pipe o he air ven pors on he ank Finish off he surface a he required level, depending on he final ground cover required i.e. opsoil, armac, gravel ec. A dry sie is one where he waer able never rises higher han he base of he Ulra Polylok A complee concree backfill may be required for we sies. A We Sie is one where he waer able may rise higher han he base of he Ulra Polylok Sewage reamen plan. A complee concree backfill may also be required where he Ulra Polylok Sewage reamen plan may be prone o some superimposed load. Insallaion procedure. he Ulra Polylok shall be insalled a he required deph o accommodae incoming drainage pipes. Remove any sof spos or boulders or sharp objecs of any significan size (ennis ball) from he base and sides of he excavaion. A level graded base is hen formed using sand binding. A foundaion of semi dry concree is laid and levelled. he concree shall be of sufficien grade and hickness (minimum 200mm and grade 25 N) o ensure ha he Ulra Polylok is fully suppored wih due regard o subsoil condiions and loads imposed by he Ulra Polylok. Care shall be aken o eliminae voids. he sysem is lifed carefully ino posiion using slings in accordance wih he cerificae holder s insrucions. Care should be aken o preven damage o exernal flanges or pipe work and o ensure he CORREC ORIENAION of he inle and oule pipe work. hese are clearly marked on he sysem. Level he Ulra Polylok using a spiri level. he Ulra Polylok should be 100% level. he lip of he lid should si flush wih proposed finished level of he ground so jus he lid will prorude above ground. Line up he inle and oule pipes wih he drainage pipes and percolaion pipes respecively. he concree is hunched up around he base of he sysem. Ensure ha he fee are embedded. Ensure ha he op of he ank is dead level and ha all of he connecions are lined up correcly. As backfilling progresses, he sysem is progressively filled wih waer, o preven uplifing (sop he sysem popping ou of he ground). he backfilled concree is o be carefully compaced around he sysem, o ensure ransfer of ground loads and o preven concenraions. Vibraing pokers mus no be used, as hese may damage he GRP sysem Marsh 20pp INSALAION HANDBOOK A5.indd 7 05/09/ :51

A 250mm hardcore sub-base is laid, compaced and levelled. he excavaion is kep dry, by pumping excess waer using a sie pump/sump, hole/ sucion hose arrangemen. Dewaering should be coninued for as long as necessary and a leas unil he concree has se. he excavaion is hen lined wih a coninuous layer of 1200 gauge polyehylene shee. he grade and hickness of he concree base should be designed o sui he sie condiions (minimum 250 mm hickness, grade 25N). Where here are muliple anks here mus be a minimum of 500mm disance beween he anks his 500mm void mus be filled wih concree during he pouring he sysem is o be insalled and he excavaion backfilled generally in accordance wih he requiremens for a dry sie from his poin on. he excavaion shall be backfilled wih concree o approx. 300mm below he ground level. Allowances mus be made for flexible joins a pipe connecions where necessary. Connec up he pipe work. he sysem is plumbed for 160mm upvc pipe.
