Handle with care. Harmful if swallowed (never repack from this container). May cause moderate irritation to skin and eyes. If inhaled, may cause nose bleeding. Store in original container, in a cool, dry place. Store under lock and key and out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Store away from food, feeds, fertilizers and seed. Re-entry: Do not enter treated area within 1 day after treatment unless wearing protective clothing. In case of poisoning call a doctor and make the label available. Aerial Application: Notify all inhabitants of the immediate area to be sprayed and issue the necessary warnings. Do not spray over or allow drift to contaminate water and adjacent areas. Avoid drift onto adjacent crops as green plant tissue will be damaged by the spray. SCUBA 200 SL can be corrosive to spray equipment and containers, manufactured with certain metals such as cast aluminium and mild steel. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water, incompatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weeds to the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instruction or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in the event of any uncertainty. SCUBA 200SL/14/06/

3 PRECAUTIONS: Do not inhale fumes or spray mist. Avoid eye and skin contact. Wear protective clothing, rubber gloves, gumboots and face mask or face shield. Wash contaminated clothing daily. Wash with soap and water after accidental skin contact. Do not eat, drink, or smoke during application or before washing hands and face and change of clothing. Avoid spray drift onto crops, grazing, rivers or areas not under treatment. Spray drift may cause damage to neighbouring crops. Do not use in mist blowers. Do not use muddy water. With knapsack and hand-held sprayers, mix each 1 part of SCUBA 200 SL with at least 40 parts of water. Wash spray equipment thoroughly, after each use. Dispose of wash water in a safe manner and do not contaminate crops, grazing, rivers, dams, boreholes, fountains, etc. This applicator should not be used for applying chemicals other than herbicides. Triple rinse empty containers in the following manner: Invert the empty container over the spray or mixing tank and allow to drain for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter, rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10 % of that of the container. Add the rinse water to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the described manner. Destroy the empty container by perforation and flattening and dispose of it in a safe manner. Never re-use the empty container for any other purpose. Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils. SYMPTOMS OF HUMAN POISONING: Inhalation of product or spray mist may cause nose bleeding and soreness of mouth and throat. FIRST AID TREATMENT: Remove the patient from the exposure area and keep the patient warm and at rest. Eye contact: Flush eyes with lukewarm, gently flowing water for at least 15 minutes or until the product is removed, while holding the eyelid(s) open. Take care not to rinse contaminated water into the unaffected eye or onto the face. If irritation, redness or burning sensations develop, get medical attention immediately. Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing, shoes and leather goods immediately. Wash contaminated areas with soap and water. Emergency personnel should wear gloves and avoid contamination. If irritation persists, get medical attention immediately. Inhalation: Get medical attention immediately. Remove the patient from exposure area to fresh air immediately. Keep affected person warm and at rest. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Wash mouth with water. Seek medical advice immediately. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: Rapid treatment is essential. Wash out stomach and test urine for presence of diquat. Give up to 1 litre of 15 % aqueous suspension of Fuller s Earth, orally or via gastric tube, together with suitable purgative (e.g. mannitol or magnesium sulphate). Repeat administration of SCUBA 200SL/14/06/

4 absorbent plus purgative until absorbent is seen in stools. This should normally take between 4 to 6 hours after start of treatment. If there is severe mouth ulceration, give nothing by mouth until patient s condition has improved. Give intravenous fluids only. RESISTANCE WARNING: SCUBA 200 SL is a group code D herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to SCUBA 200 SL and other group code D herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by SCUBA 200 SL or any other group code D herbicide. To delay herbicide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide group codes, Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into weed control programmes. Situations of resistance of weeds against paraquat and/or glyphosate applications are known. These weed populations may also be resistant to SCUBA 200 SL. For specific information on resistance management contact the registration holder of this product. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: It is a violation of Government Notices R 1716 of 26 July 1991 and R 181 of 7 February 2003 issued in terms of the Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947 (Act No 36 of 1947) to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labelling. Do not attempt the control of submerged aquatic weeds using SCUBA 200 SL if the water temperature (of the water body) is less than 15 Celsius. 1) Aerial Application: Aerial application of SCUBA 200 SL may only be done by a registered aerial application operator using a correctly calibrated, registered aircraft according to the instructions of SANS Code (Aerial Application of Agricultural Remedies). It is important to ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is, therefore, essential that the following criteria are met: Volume: A spray mixture volume of 35 to 40 litres per hectare is recommended. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended above. Droplet coverage: 35 to 40 droplets per cm² must be recovered at the target Droplet size: A droplet spectrum with a VMD of 350 to 400 microns is recommended. Limit the production of fine droplets less than 150 microns (high drift and evaporation potential) to a minimum. Flying height: Maintain the height of the spray boom at 3 to 4 metres above the target. Do not spray when aircraft dives, is in a climb or when banking. SCUBA 200SL/14/06/

5 Use suitable atomising equipment that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product. The spraying system must produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible Relative Span. Position all the atomisers within the inner 60 to 75 % of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices. The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8 C. Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h. Stop spraying under turbulent, unstable and dry conditions during the heat of the day. Spraying under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in or above the inversion layer) and/or high humidity conditions (relative humidity 80 % and above) may lead to the following: - reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the air ie. inadequate coverage, - damage to other sensitive crops and/or non-target areas through drifting of the suspended spray cloud away from the target field. Ensure that the Aerial Spray Operator knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the Aerial Spray Operator that the above requirements will be met and that relevant data will be compiled in a logbook and kept for future reference. Avoid spray drift onto adjacent crops or non-target areas as green plant tissue will be damaged by the spray. 2) Conventional Applications: For floating aquatic weeds ensure good coverage of weeds. For submerged aquatic weeds ensure spray nozzles deliver a coarse droplet. Limit the production of fine droplets with the potential of high drift and evaporation. Use a knapsack sprayer for smaller areas and motorised equipment for larger areas. Both 2 Bar pressure. AVOID SPRAY DRIFT. Do not spray buds or green parts of any non-target crop. SCUBA 200 SL kills green tissue of plants but does not harm mature bark. 3) Mixing instructions: Half fill the spray tank with clean water and add the required quantity of SCUBA 200 SL. Then fill the tank to the required volume with clean water ensuring thorough agitation. When using tank mixes the additional herbicide should be added after the SCUBA 200 SL and agitation must be continuous before and during spraying. Avoid the use of hard or muddy water. AQUATIC WEED CONTROL. SCUBA 200 SL can be used in fish-bearing water for the control of aquatic weeds at the rate recommended below. SCUBA 200 SL can be used in a tank mix with NEPTUNE (Reg.No.: L 7807 Act No. 36 of 1947) at the rate recommended below. Note: Before treating fish-bearing water consult your SCUBA 200 SL distributor. 6 WARNING: Do not use SCUBA 200 SL if any conditions contributing to high algae populations exist in the dam. The death of these algae could cause a reduction in available oxygen in the water and possible fish mortalities. High nutrient levels, artificial feeding, low water levels, high water temperature and unnaturally high fish populations (i.e. caged fish) are such factors that could contribute to high algae populations. Only apply SCUBA 200 SL to dams with clean water. Do not apply SCUBA 200 SL to dams containing suspended clay particles or where vegetation in the dam is coated with clay or soil particles. Apply SCUBA 200 SL with application equipment to supply a coarse droplet spectrum. Water volume deeper than 1 meter: use high pressure application to ensure good penetration into the water. Water volume that is shallower than 1 meter: use a low pressure applicator (i.e. knapsack sprayer). Do not use high pressure application, as muddy turbulence from the bottom will de-activate the product. CROP Deciduous fruit orchards and vineyards: DOSAGE 1,5 5 l SCUBA 200SL/ha in l water For the control of annual grass and broadleaf weeds, especially Cape marigold (Arctotheca calendula). Where both annual grasses and Cape marigold occur in vineyards and deciduous fruit orchards, SCUBA 200SL may be added to AGROQUAT (Reg no.: L 4607, Act 36 of 1947) in equal parts in accordance with directions for use on the AGROQUAT label. Dosage per hectare will depend on stand, growth stage and growing condition of weeds. Use higher volume and dosage rate for dense weeds. Add ALLGRAL 94 at 100 ml per 100 litres spray mixture of SCUBA 200SL and at 50 ml per 100 litres to an SCUBA 200SL/AGROQUAT mixture. For vineyards apply overall before bud burst, thereafter, as a directed spray. Weeds controlled by SCUBA 200SL: All annual broadleaf weeds including: Arctotheca calendula Cape marigold Erodium moschatum Musk heron s bill SCUBA 200SL will not control any perennial weeds or woody shrubs or plants with large vegetative reproductive organs e.g. common reed. Note: of SCUBA 200SL may be necessary for suppression of deep rooted weeds such as: Convolvulus arvensis (field bind weed) Malva parvifora (small mallow) Plantago lanceolata (narrow-leaved ribwort) Rumex angiocarpus (sheep sorrel) SCUBA 200SL/14/06/

9 HARVESTING AID IN OTHER CROPS Sunflowers: For the desiccation of sunflowers for earlier harvesting. 1,5 l SCUBA 200SL/ha Aerial application: Apply in 35 to 40 litres water per hectare when the moisture of the sunflower is between 30 to 40 % or when the peripheral bracts on the sunflower heads are brown and becoming brittle. Add 30 ml ALLGRAL 94 for every 30 litres spray mixture. Important: Do not apply after the end of February. Potatoes: Haulm killing for the early harvesting of potatoes. 2,5 5 l SCUBA 200SL/ha Apply in 500 to 1000 litres water per hectare. Add ALLGRAL 94 at 100 ml per hectare spray mixture. Do not apply if haulms show signs of wilting as tuber damage may occur. Do not apply in overcast conditions.
