HafcoVac vacuum heads are shipped fully assembled and ready o use. If you ordered a vacuum head wih a ool ki, or individual ools or hoses, hey are generally included in he same box, so please check carefully o avoid discarding hem wih he packaging. If you ordered a liquid shu off assembly (HV- 7031), i is insalled inside he sandard filer for shipping purposes, hough i is advised ha you use only he liquid shu off or he filer a any given ime, depending upon your applicaion. Complee unis ship fully assembled, wih he excepion of he caser base (dolly). See he subsequen secion for assembly insrucions. If your uni is a demonsraion uni, or you hink you may need o reurn he vacuum, you should save he original packaging o ensure ha he uni is no damaged upon reurn shipping. 5 CHOOSING THE RIGHT VACUUM A general guide o choosing a HafcoVac Vacuum is by deerming he available airflow (CFM). Using his simple formula i is easy o see wha your faciliy has available o selec he righ vacuum. AIR SUPPLY / COMPRESSOR REQUIREMENTS Follow he guidelines below o ensure ha your uni will perform up o specificaions. The recommended PSI for HafcoVac vacuums is beween 80 o 120 PSI. 6 O P E R A T I N G I N S T R U C T I O N S OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS To operae he vacuum, you mus connec he airline beween he vacuum and your air supply. The Chicago, or Universal fiings connec and disconnec by pushing in and wising. Be sure o connec hem securely by wising hem unil hey sop and he safey clip pins are aligned. Use he supplied safey clips a all imes. If your applicaion does no require full sucion, simply open he ball valve o he vacuum head only parially. Lower airflow resuls in a correspondingly lower sucion, bu wih less of a demand on your compressed air. When picking up liquids, uninsall he filer by removing he reaining springs and separae he head and he filer. Use of a Liquid Shu-Off Valve (HV-7031) is highly recommended when picking up liquids o preven overflow and possible damage o he exhaus silencer. The liquid shu-off valve insalls using he same reaining springs as hose used for he filer. Noe: When using he vacuum o pick up combusible liquids or maerial, be sure o use a properly equipped EX Ani-Saic uni, which will proec you from saic elecriciy buildup. If your vacuum is no Ani- Saic equipped a ki is available o purchase and insall easily. ANTI-STATIC EXPLOSION PROOF All operaors of HafcoVac Ani-Saic Vacuums should be rained and fully undersand he opics discussed in his secion. Failure o inspec he inegriy of safeguards, circumvening safeguard sysems or subsiuions wih componens from oher sysems could lead o poenially dangerous siuaions. Proper raining will lead o he safe operaion of he vacuum. To safely disconnec an air supply line, i mus firs be depressurized. Turn he air supply off a he neares supply valve, hen open he valve on he vacuum o release residual pressure before disconnecion. Should you need o pick up combusible maerials, or if you operae a uni in a hazardous environmen, you should only use a properly equipped Ani-Saic model, designaed wih an X or EX model number suffix. 6 HAFCOVAC n n info@hafcovac.com n

7 ANTI-STATIC AND ATEX CERTIFIED ( X and EX Designaion) HafcoVac ani-saic unis ( X and EX model numbers) are designed and facory assembled wih a number of feaures o ensure saic elecriciy is safely dissipaed. Saic elecriciy can pose a risk if allowed o build up and be uninenionally discharged when he vacuum is used in hazardous environmens or wih combusible subsances. Saic elecriciy should be coninuously dissipaed by ensuring he uni is properly grounded, and ha all componens of he vacuum mainain heir elecrical bonding. GROUNDING HafcoVac unis offer muliple opions for grounding, depending upon he environmen you will be using your vacuum in. You mus be cerain ha one or more pah o ground is presen any ime he vacuum is in operaion. I is highly recommended ha you verify any assumpions made abou he presence of elecrical ground in your faciliy. A N T I - S T A T I C A N D A T E X C E R T I F I E D u Air Supply Grounding HafcoVac ani-saic vacuums are supplied wih elecrically conducive air supply lines. Mos air supply sysems uilize seel black pipe for delivery, which is ypically grounded. Grounding he vacuum may be achieved by correcing he conducive hose o a grounded air supply sysem. However, if your air supply sysem uses PVC pipes or rubber hoses, or if you exend your air supply hose wih a non conducive hose, grounding hrough your air supply may no be a viable opion. HafcoVac ships saic conducive air supply lines wih an exra lengh of wire ha prorudes where he hose mees he coupler a each end. I is no necessary o connec his wire o anyhing for he hose and couplers o be conducive. However, he wire should be lef o serve as a confirmaion ha i is a conducive supply line, so as o no confuse i wih non conducive lines which you may also have in your faciliy. Never exend a conducive supply line wih a non conducive supply line, as he pah o ground hrough your air supply sysem will break. Addiionally, he wire can serve as an exra grounding opion should you have any doubs abou grounding hrough your air supply sysem. 8 V A C U U M H E A D P A R T S D I A G R A M u Operaing Surface Grounding The drum dolly (or vacuum drum wihou dolly) siing on a grounded surface is generally a suiable ground for he purpose of dissipaing saic elecriciy. No all surfaces, however, are grounded. Unpained concree slabs ypically provide good ground conduciviy, paricularly if your faciliy was consruced o code requiring Concree Encased Elecrode or grounding. Many surfaces aren suiable o make assumpions abou presence of a good ground, such as pained concree, carpe, rubber mas, dir, on a vehicle, ec. u Wire/Jumper Grounding If you have any doub abou he presence of ground hrough eiher he air supply line or he operaing surface, i is highly recommended ha you use a grounding wire and clamp. HafcoVac provides a wire wih clamp for his purpose, alhough you can employ oher soluions should he provided cable and clamps no be suiable in lengh or for he surface you are rying o ground he vacuum o. To use he provided clamps (or your own soluion) aach he end of he cable wih he wire connecor o he pos on he vacuum, locaed near he inle. The green grounding sicker (picured below) designaes he grounding poin of he vacuum. If you use an alernae grounding soluion, ensure you are no clamping o a pained surface, as he pain will ac as an insulaor of saic buildup, raher han a conducor. Connec he oher end of he wire o a reliable ground. Examples could include a grounding pos, meal elecrical conduis or juncion boxes, unpained building srucural componens, ec. If you have any doubs, i is recommended ha you conac an elecrician o provide you a verified ground connecion o use. u Bonding Each componen of he HafcoVac Ani-Saic vacuum uni is bonded o ensure ha no componen of he sysem is isolaed from ground. The operaor should verify, prior o each use he following bonding poins: The copper band picured is essenial o bond he vacuum hose o he head The braided cable mus be inac o ensure bonding of he head o he drum You should also inspec he drum rim a op and boom where i has been ground free of pain, exposing bare meal. If he rim has rused, been coaed wih pain or oherwise fouled, he conac beween he vacuum head and drum or he drum and dolly may be broken. If you are using your own drum, ensure proper grounding direcly from he vacuum head. You should use only meal ools, do no use plasic. If you exend any supply line or vacuum hose, be cerain o do so wih anoher conducive par. Connec wires beween muliple lenghs of hose. 8 HAFCOVAC n n info@hafcovac.com n

9 TROUBLESHOOTING If your vacuum doesn perform as expeced, verify he following iems: u Clean or replace filer Compressed air can be used o clean filer media. When ordering replacemen filers, be sure o differeniae beween sandard (HV-7037) and HEPA (HV-7063) models. HEPA filers will capure smaller paricles, bu also require more frequen cleaning / replacemen. u If insalled, wash ouer filer bag The use of a filer bag is highly recommended, paricularly wih HEPA filers o exend he life of he filer elemen. Do no use filer bag if we. u Be sure air supply is adequae Fiings wih an inner diameer of less han 3/4 will resric air supply. u Check for obsrucions Vacuum hose and elbow on vacuum head should be free of obsrucion. u Vacuum head mus make a good seal wih he drum Lip of drum should have no dens, and he drum should have no puncures. Check and replace gaske on boom of vacuum head if needed (HV or HV-55-11). u Check and replace gaskes under he venuri (HV-7028) and he elbow (HV-7054) on he op of he vacuum head. LIFETIME WARRANTY HafcoVac akes pride in i's produc and values heir cusomers. As such, HafcoVac offers a limied Lifeime Warrany o all original end-users of our producs. This warrany applies o defecs in maerial and workmanship when he produc fails under normal condiions. Damage caused by condiions including, bu no limied o he following are expressly excluded: modificaion o any componen or assembly, solvens, corrosives, or harsh environmenal condiions. Also excluded are all componens considered consumables, such as gaskes, filers or exhaus silencers. 10 S ' H U S H S I L E N C E R I N S T A L L A T I O N I N S T R U C T I O N S 1 3 Loosen and remove bol and nu from he S HUSH Silencer and sore in a safe place. Align cener hreaded bol opening wih hreads on he venuri head. SILENCER INSTALLATION 2 Loosen Anchor Screw and remove from Venuri head wih 3/8 wrench. Slide S HUSH ono he head. 4 Inser bol and hand ighen. 5 Inser bol on righ and loosely ighen wih included allen wrench. 6 Inser bol on righ side and loosely ighen wih included allen wrench. 11 CASTER BASE ASSEMBLY The caser base (HV or HV-55-20), or dolly, is he only componen ha needs assembly. You will need he following pars for assembly, all of which are included: u (20) 7/16 bols u (20) 7/16 nus u (2) Seel cross members (one should have an offse) u (4) Casers Place he cross members perpendicular o one anoher. Place he piece wih he offse in he cener of he bar on he boom. Align he holes and bol he pieces ogeher. Aach he 4 swivel casers wih 4 bols each o each corner of he cross members.
