Notice SF6 Comprehensive Tester V The test and maintenance should be strictly carried out for each component and instrument mentioned in this manual according to the description within the specified range. 2. This instrument can not be used definitely for testing the corrosive gas or the gas with oil or water as well as the explosive dust and oil mist. 3. When the gas is tested in the small indoor environment, the gas discharge should be lead to outdoors or the safe area, otherwise, the gas will be accumulated more and more so as to lead the calamitous explosion accident. 4. It is strictly forbidden to turn on, turn off or charge the instrument in the dangerous area. 5. Only the standard gas with the known intensity should be ventilated to test whether the instrument is accurate. If there are errors in the reading of the instrument, demarcation can be carried out for the instrument and it must be carried out strictly according to the description. If this specification is violated, it will seriously influence the capabilities of the instruments. We encourage the clients to consult any information related to demarcation through calls and letters. 6. This instrument is a hermetically sealed whole, so please do not try to open it or you cannot enjoy the policy of three packs (guaranteeing to recall, exchange and repair). 7. The demarcation had been carried out before this instrument was dispatched from the factory and it is tested to be qualified. 8. When the communication cable is connected, make sure not to carry out the electrified operation, or the communication interface is easily to be damaged. 9. If the instrument will be stored for a long time, it should be fully charged and it should be charged once in three months. 2

Chapter One Survey SF6 Comprehensive Tester V1.3 SF6 comprehensive tester combines the tests of humidity of SF6, purity of SF6 and it integrates the functions which were originally fulfilled by tow instruments into one instrument. One site measurement can fulfill the test of three targets. It greatly saves the gas in the equipment, reduces the work amount of the users and improve the work efficiency. SF6 comprehensive tester enjoys the excellent capabilities because it fully adopts the best foreign sensor, Finnish Vaisala for humidity, the thermal conductivity sensor with temperature compensation for purity are the imported products. It adopts the LCD display with real-time display of all parameters. It enjoys the overall fool-operation and large storage of information. It has chargable batteries inside for either alternating or direct current. Chapter Two Measurement Principle The basic principle of ATSM902 Type SF6 tester for measuring purity is to define the contents according to the heat conducting rate of all gases. The heat conducting rate of SF6 is the lowest in the gas, so when the heat conducting rate of the background gas is basically kept stable, the heat conducting rate will be lower if the content of SF6 in the hybrid gas is higher. The density of SF6 can be tested according to it. Component Heat conducting rate Component Heat conducting rate Air O2 NH3 CH4 He H SF6 SO2 H2S Ar CO2 H2O CO N Relative heat conducting rates of normal gases (With the air at 120 as the reference) The sensor components of the ATSM902 gas analyzer are equipped in a firm thermostatic chamber, and it guarantees that the sensor can steadily work in the adverse environment. The hydrogen sensor component is a stainless steel structure with two same sensing components inside, sensing component for measurement and sensing component for reference. There is the thermal resistor with high reliability equipped in each sensor component. These corresponding thermal resistors form the measurement arm of the bridge type circuit, and the unbalanced current of the bridge type circuit can be adopted to measure the relative capability of the sampled gas conducting heat from the thermal resistor to the surface of the sensor component. One end of the sensor with the equipped thermal resistor is sealed and the sampled gas will extend to get in in order to reduce the influence of the flow change of the sampled gas to the minimum. 5

The calibration is not certainly carried out in the order of the density. After the input of the recod, the system will automatically arrange the calibration table in the order of density when entering into the calibration table next time. 3. Single-point calibration of instrument Because the purity and humidity of SF6 basically make the linear drift within a certain measuring range, the single-point calibration can be adopted when the error is not to large. Connect the standard gas with the instrument to carry out the normal measurement, pay attention to the flow of the sample gas, and put the difference between the reading and the standard value into the instrument. Enter into the measurement interface and correctly choose the measurement module, and meanwhile press Left and Right to enter into the following interface: 15

Press F1 to increase the figure, press F2 to decrease the figure, press OK to save the record, and press and to move the cursor. For example, the standard gas is 95%, the actual measurement is 94.5%, and the difference = 95%-94.5% = 0.5%, so put in 0.5% and save. Chapter Sever Matters needing attention 7.1 Common problems during usage What should be the flow during the use of the instrument? Answer: When measuring the humidity: 0.8~ 0.9L/min; when measuring the purity: 0.5~0.7L/min Will the flow influence the measurement result? Answer: The instrument adopts the diffusion thermal conductor for measurement, so the flow has no influence on the measurement result within a certain range Will the environment temperature change influence the measurement? Answer: The instrument firstly adopts the thermostatic thermal conductor with the function of temperature compensation, and then it adopts the industrial chip, so the temperature has no influence within the recommended range What are the factors influencing the measurement result? Answer: 1. Influence of the environment noise. The measurement precision of this case is comparatively high. If there are comparatively strong electromagnetic noise, it will have certain influence on the signal. Therefore, it is better to adopt the direct case grounding for the instrument. 2. Calibration of instrument. The calibration of the instrument is very important. The standard gas of the calibration and the calibration method will directly influence the measurement result. We recommend to adopt the standard gas with certain qualification. Besides, the calibration staff must pass the technique training. 7.2 Maintenance of instrument Calibration of instrument The calibration is needed before the use of the instrument, and the accuracy of calibration will directly influence the measurement precision of the instrument. Therefore, the parameters in 16

the instrument calibration table are very important and they cannot be carelessly changed or deleted. When the readings of the points of the instrument are different, the instrument should be re-calibrated, or it should only adopt the single-point calibration (because the instrument basically enjoys the linear change within a certain range) Calibration cycle All the measurement instruments should be periodically calibrated. Generally it can be calibrated once every half year or every three months according to the concrete work condition. Calibration method: directly connect the standard gas with hybrid density into the gas inlet of the instrument. The same as the normal measurement, after the instrument is stable, if there is a difference, which exceeds the allowance range, the single-point calibration method can be directly adopted. After each time of instrument, it is better to clean it by the high-purity nitrogen and store it after being fully charged. Chapter Eight Operation steps of use 1. Turn on the instrument to check the electric quantity of the instrument. If the electric quantity is not enough, please charge it in time. 2. Carefully check whether the transition joint are complet and the installation of sealing washer is proper. 3. If the instrument hasn t been used for a long time, nitrogen should be connected for 20 minutes at first to clean the pipeline of the instrument. (to choose) 4. Reaching the measurement site, firstly turn on the power supply of the instrument and connect the gas outlet pipeline (lead the exit of the pipe to the place without people) 5. Choose the joint complete with the equipment, connect the gas inlet pipe and the joint and then connect the joint with the main body of the equipment (the connection must be speedy to avoid the gas leakage). 6. Turn off the needle flow adjustment valve on the instrument panel, connect the gas inlet pipe and the gas inlet of the instrument, and check whether the auto calibration time of the instrument ends. After the auto calibration time of the instrument ends, it is allowed to slowly turn on the flow adjustment valve to control the flow at 0.8L/Min. (The flow has no influence on the measurement result, but it has certain influence on the measurement time). 7. Check whether the data are stable after five minutes of measurement (fluctuating within a certain range means being stable). If the data are not stable, the measurement time can be extended. After the data are stable, save the measurement result according to the direction of the instrument interface. 8. If the measurement will be continuously carried out, the instrument needn t closing, and only after connecting the joint with the next equipment, the measurement can be continuously carried out. 9. After the measurement, firstly separate the joint from the equipment, dismantle the pipes one by one, close the instrument, and then wash the instrument pipes by the high-purity nitrogen. 10. If the instrument should be stored for a long time, it should be fully charged. 17

Chapter Nine Common Faults and Maintenance Fault detection and manual of instrument maintenance Phenomenon Reason Solution The direction light fails or flicker when it is charged. Switch on the power supply, but the instrument fails to display. When the measurement is firstly carried out, the purity value is still not displayed after the gas has been ventilated for several minutes. The use time of the battary of the instrument is not long. 1.The power supply has not been well conntected. 2.The electric quantity of the instrument has been full. 1.The electric quantity is not enough. Because the analysis pipe in the instrument is comparatively long, not all the internal air is discharged. The instrument still analyzes the purity value of SF6 in the air. 1. Maybe the discharge of the battery is not enough. 2.After battery long-term use, the performance reduces 1.Check whether the power source has been well connected. 2.Re-plug the power supply wire, check whether the direction light shines, if so, it represents the electric quantity has been full. 1.Charge the instrument Adjust the flow as the maximum before the measurement, and adjust the flow to the proper range after all the air is discharged. Go on to charge Change the battery 18
