2 Calibration of electrical measurement equipment - Calibration laboratory Why is calibration of your measuring instruments important? What is calibration? Calibration is the comparison between a standard value of known accuracy and the measured value obtained by a measurement. The goal of a calibration procedure is to ensure the quality and accuracy of measurements made by measuring equipment. Measuring equipment s accuracy is defined by the manufacturer s specifications. During time, extensive usage and under the influence of the environment, measuring equipment s metrology characteristics change. Periodical calibration ensures that the measuring equipment is within the limits of accuracy defined by the manufacturers. The calibration laboratory, which is part of KONČAR - Electrical Engineering Institute has been operating for over 55 years. With the help of our experienced and professional metrologists we can provide a high level calibration service for a range of instruments and testing equipment. Accreditation Since 2004 our calibration laboratory has been accredited by the Croatian Accreditation Agency (HAA) in accordance with EN ISO/IEC HAA has been full member of the EA (European co-operation for accreditation) since 2005 and assigned EA MLA for all accreditation schemes. HAA has become a full member of ILAC since Our calibration services are available for many types of equipment independently of the type or manufacturer. Our high precision calibrators (standards) are calibrated at regular intervals and therefore traceable to national standards. Since 2016 our calibration laboratory has been accredited by the Croatian Accreditation Agency (HAA) in accordance with EN ISO/IEC for the inspection of resistance meters. Calibration procedures Our laboratory has a large number of calibration procedures but we always take into account our customer s wishes and demands. After the calibration, when the equipment is picked up, our customers receive a calibration certificate and advice about the state of their equipment. We generally recommend that the measuring equipment should be periodically calibrated. Adjustment of measurement equipment If the results of the calibration procedure show that the measuring equipment doesn t comply with its manufacturer s specifications the customer is immediately notified and, if possible, is given a chance to choose the option of an adjustment of the measuring equipment. After the adjustment is made the measuring equipment gets recalibrated. Precise and fast calibration After the delivery of the measuring equipment into our laboratory, the calibration is entirely performed on our premises which saves transportation time. The equipment is calibrated in the shortest possible time after the delivery. We also offer an express service on request. The quality of our measuring capabilities is insured with participation in interlaboratory comparisons with National Metrology Institute of the Netherlands (VSL) and Czech Metrology Institute (ČMI).
