We would not want a flat battery to ruin your day. WARNING: This program is provided as is and no warranty as to accuracy can be given. It is the Pilots Responsibility at ALL times to confirm the information provided is accurate and appropriate. PILOT WIZZ - THE PILOTS COMPANION

Overview Units PILOT WIZZ Pilot Wizz has been designed by GA pilots for GA pilots. It provides all of the basic conversions, calculations and key functions to keep you flying safely. CALCULATIONS It will also calculate accurate Density Altitude, True Airspeed, Pressure Altitude, True Altitude, Heading / Ground speed and Time from Wind, Track and Distance, Hours Calculator, Rate of Descent and Distance/Time calculations CONVERSIONS It will convert between Foot/Metres, Nautical Mile/Statute mile, Nautical Mile/Kilometre, Pound/Kilogram, Gallon(US)/ Litre, Gallon(imp)/Litre,Celsius/Fahrenheit, inhg/hpa. CROSSWIND Display the crosswind components when in a circuit. HOLDING Visually display the effect of wind in a holding pattern. Provide a auto-calculation of Max Drift,Single Drift,WCA and Outgoing Leg timing, then manually adjust to fit your requirements. ROUTE PLAN Store / Reverse complete flight plans all corrected for wind and variation. GPS CDI GPS CDI display for route navigation or direct to with OBS mode. FUEL PLANNER A simple and easy to use fuel planner will calculate all other parameters from any that are given, works for Avgas and Avtur. UNITS Given that our industry is often US driven yet many of us operate in Europe it is often necessary to work in different units. To aid this you can match the program to work with BACKUP TO You can send your entire configuration to back it up via . This can then be read with the pro version and or the Mac Desktop version. your preferred default units. WEATHER You load all of your favourite weather stations into the program for easy access to METAR/TAF and Long TAFs in easy to access raw or decoded form. WEIGHT AND BALANCE Display your weight and balance quick and easily with all fuel calculations automatically feed into the equation. QUICK LOG A quick way of remembering your flight hours,startup/ shutdown,takeoff/landing, fuel, oil and notes. With auto totals hours and mins. Also supports Decimal or hh:mm notations for time. AIRCRAFT Store key parameters for many aircraft so they can easily be recalled for W&B calculations and fuel planning. UNITS You can select your preferred settings for Gallons (USG/ IMP) weight (lbs/kg), height (ft/m) etc.

Aircraft Configuration Conversions AIRCRAFT AIRCRAFT MOMENTS AIRCRAFT CG LIMITS You can maintain a easy to access list of your favourites aircraft. This list is managed in the standard iphone manner. When you press edit you can delete and or change the order of items in the list. From you POH you should find a list of aircraft moments or arms for each From your POH you should find a graph/list of CG limits for your aircraft, loading area. The default weight and arm (in inches) should be entered for each one. An example C182T has been included and can be easily modified for you own aircraft. Remember to put the aircrafts own empty CG balance in. Try and use consistent names so that when you change aircraft in the W&B diagram it can maintain the weights you have already entered. Enter a 0 weight here if the user normally configures the value. it is best to add these in the order of the shape we are going to draw. (They can be re-ordered later). For each CG arm in inches add the weight. The example 182 has a simple 6 point graph but more arms can be added or removed to suit your own aircraft. You can publish ( ) all of the parameters to other iphone users and import them from the mail application. It is also possible to duplicate these settings when setting up many similar aircraft Each moment can have a different type - Arm = normal moment arms, Fuel for fuel loading, Fuel Tip Tanks - for fuel stored in a Tip Tank, Fuel Burn fuel to be consumed from the main tank, Fuel Burn Tip Tanks - fuel to be consumed from the tip tanks. Some table are defined in Moment/100 for these occasions you can use the Moment/100 format and the CG will be calculated from the weight. CONVERSIONS PilotWiz will convert between Foot/Metre, Nautical Mile/Statute Mile, Nautical Mile/ Kilometre, Pound/Kilogram, Gallon(US)/Litre, Gallon(imp)/Litre,Celsius/Fahrenheit, inhg/ hpa. When a conversion is selected you can enter a value in either window and it will calculate the corresponding value in the other. Conversions are independent of any other part of the program and do not store any values.

Weather WEATHER STATIONS You can maintain a easy to access list of your favourites weather stations. This list is managed in the standard iphone manner. When you press edit you can delete and or change the order of items in the list. The display shows the latest Metars and can be decoded or left in raw format. Touch a station to see a more detailed overview METAR and TAFs. The first time you enter the weather page it is automatically refresh - you will need to press refresh for more updates. It will also lookup the airfield elevation and calculate the Pressure Altitude and Density Altitude automatically. Calculations ADDING STATIONS At any time you can press the plus sign to add a new station WEATHER DETAIL When a station is selected the program will attempt to load or you can edit a station by pressing the edit button the METAR and TAF. To toggle between a decoded within the detailed view. version and raw view of the data press the Decode/Raw Enter then name of the airfield and the ICAO code. Not all airfields report their weather, but if they do be indicated with met. You can partially enter the airport name and a list of possible matches will be displayed to select from. It will also display the distance and bearing from your current position. button. To refresh the information press the Refresh TRUE ALTITUDE Enter the Indicated Altitude (Calibrated if different) of the aircraft, the outside air temperature at that altitude. Then enter the field elevation that provides your QNH and the HOURS CALCULATOR Enter any two of From/To/Hours and the other field will be calculated. The duration and totals are then displayed. Handy for totalling up your log book. temperature and true altitude of that airfield. The True altitude of the aircraft will then be calculated. If you dont know the field data then use 0 and 15C to get a very loose approximation. Do NOT rely on these figures in safety critical cases. button. The Wind Mem button will store the wind in the memory for use in the crosswind calculator. Decoding will display in Local Time (LT) where possible and indicate the UTC offset. It will also display station information, lat/lon, Bearing/ distance from here, elevation and Timezone. You can then view the airfield in google maps or find other nearby stations.

Calculations Quick Log RATE OF DESCENT Will Calculate the following:- Distance,Time,Gradient from Groundspeed,Height,RoD RATE OF CLIMB Will Calculate the following:- Rate of Climb,Gradient from Goundspeed and Ft/NM DISTANCE TIME Calculate the missing element from Groundspeed, Distance, or Time Distance,RoD,Gradient from Groundspeed, Height, Time Time,RoD,Gradient from Groundspeed, Height, Distance Distance,RoD,Time from Rate of Climb,Ft/NM from Groundspeed, Gradient Ft/NM,Gradient from Groundspeed, Rate of Climb QUICK LOG Enter and two of Takeoff/Landing/Hours and the other field will be calculated. 7 Fuel / Weight and Balance Crosswind/Holding Pattern FUEL The fuel calculator take the headache out of simple fuel calculations and helps with W&B. You can enter any of the primary parameters and it will calculate all of the others. Once you have provided the fuel consumption rate, you can enter endurance as a value and it will then also calculate how much fuel this is in gallons/ litres and weight. Frequently for planning we use gallons but then fill up in litres! So both are always displayed. The fuel weight calculated here is automatically fed into the W&B calculation. The fuel weight is defined by your aircraft setting (Specific Gravity e.g for AVGAS or 0.82 for JET A (AVTUR) ) WEIGHT AND BALANCE A list of weight arms will be listed that matches the configuration of the selected aircraft. Scroll the list to the end to select a different aircraft. You can then enter each weight and the calculated centre of gravity will be displayed on the CG Limits graph. The dot will turn RED when you are out of limits, and GREEN for within limits. BLUE landing weight. See configuring aircraft to see how to set the limits and weight arms up. The system tries to store the last configured weights, so that if you change aircraft you can see how they would affect each of them. You can rapidly change between lbs and kg weight units by pressing the kg/lbs key. Tip: For Helicopters with Lateral and Longitudinal weight and balance, setup the first aircraft w&b then duplicate the aircraft and alter the settings for the other method, then change easily in aircraft in the w&b display to see the graphs change with the same moment names. Then reference the Longitudinal aircraft from the lateral aircraft. Examples can be downloaded from the website. CROSSWIND Press the runway button and enter the runway number e.g 24. Press the Wind button to enter the Wind Heading and Speed. Press the TAS button to enter the TAS around the circuit. Press the Left Hand or Right Hand button to change the diagram to match the circuit direction. All of these will then be remembered in the program saved configuration. The display will then show each of the directions for the circuit and a suggested heading for that TAS, it will also show the headwind or tailwind and the side wind affects. A wind vector is also show to assist in your visualisation of the crosswind effects. HOLDING PATTERN Select the inbound leg angle the approach heading (track). Then enter the winds aloft for the area, your true airspeed for the hold and the hold direction (LH or RH). The program will then draw the hold patterns for no wind (black line) with gate line, and the entry procedure recommended for that hold (blue dotted line). It will calculate the max drift, single drift and the outbound drift, Outbound single angle and leg time ( red ), Inbound corrected angle (green), It will display the estimated flight path for the aircraft (yellow - outbound turn, orange - outbound turn complete to abeam, red - outbound leg, light blue - turn back to inbound, green inbound leg). It will use the standard rules of thumb initialy. Press Best for it to hunt for some better values. You can then manually adjust them to suit your needs. The estimated total time is shown with the inbound leg time in (). The wind adjusted inbound heading/legtime/gs/distance is also show against the inbound leg.

ROUTE PLANS You can maintain a easy to access list of your favourites route plans. This list is managed in the standard iphone manner. When you press edit you can delete and or change the order of items in the list. Route Plans ROUTE PLAN EDIT MODE There are two fundamental modes - the EDIT mode where plans are added to and created. It is the primary way to enter and edit the leg information. Legs can be added and deleted and reordered at this point. When in edit mode - and a leg is selected the route plan leg edit page is entered. Press the EDIT button to enter edit mode. The pro version allows entry of waypoints by well know navaids/airports with an optional radial from these points. It will then calculate the leg length, heading and magnetic variation. ROUTE PLAN LEG EDIT The Plan Leg edit page show each of the parameters for the leg. To speed entry the first block of parameters are stepped through automatically. So the easiest way to configure the leg is to click on the name first then each parameter will be stepped through. The lower group shows the results of the calculations. There is a further group that allows leg by leg Wind,TAS and Variation parameters if you are not going to apply a whole route wind/variation. This is useful for longer routes where the wind can change significantly. It also show the ROUTE PLAN DISPLAY When the route is displayed in normal mode, it calculates totals of mileage, estimated timing and fuel usage. The fuel usage is for the flight only and does not include the taxi/ takeoff fuel or reserve fuel. When you rotate the phone sideways the display will show all of the key information:name, track, variation, heading, groundspeed, distance, time, planned altitude and msa. (see below) you can edit the overall route wind and tas by selecting the default wind and tas items. Remember each leg can have its own wind and tas and if configured the defaults will not be used (non zero) for that leg. Route Plans this display the DTK required track of the leg, the XTK display all of the key leg information. ROUTE PLAN GPS LEG Whilst flying it is possible to use the GPS CDI display (Pro only) - ROUTE PLAN LEG - ACTIVE Whilst flying it is possible to use the Active leg display. This will You can change the wind and the TAS by pressing on the respective windows - this will edit either the default values or the leg values if previously set. To activate a leg press the Start button the leg start time will be set it will also acivate the seconds timer so that you can see the elapsed time since you started that leg. Additionally it will calculate the ETA in 24hr format and the Total time estimate to complete the whole route from now. last know leg start time and Actual Time of arrival. distance off the desired track (CDI deflect full scale an 2.5nm), Distance to waypoint, Bearing to waypoint, Estimated time enroute and arrival (gmt), it will also display your current track, groundspeed and altitude from the GPS (always rely on your altimeter for altitude!). You can enter OBS mode at any time and return to track mode by pressing the OBS button. You can set the OBS course by pressing the CRS button. The CDI will then display based upon the course to the next waypoint. Select any leg to activate that leg or select direct to to goto a specific point.
