3 4 NATIONALLY RECOGNISED ACCREDITED LADDERS & STEPS USER COURSE Nationally Recognised Accredited Ladders & Steps User Course Accredited Ladder & Steps Training Our Nationally recognised accredited Ladders & Steps Training for Inspectors course would be suitable for operatives whose duty is to inspect and maintain ladders & stepladders in their workplace. Delegates will be competent to assess & determine when it s appropriate to use a ladder or step ladder, record findings & recommend action to be taken if faults are found, also accurately record details of ladders & stepladders. They will have an understanding of: What they need to know about law & standards relating to ladders & step ladders, Hazards in the use of the equipment and storage & handling. Legal requirements and guidance Initial inspection Asset register Inspection procedures Inspection Documentation Manufacturing techniques Maintenance/repairs Disposal Theory and Practical Tests What tests will I undertake? Lecture, theory assessment, practical training & assessments. The assessments are a series of multiple choice questions, ladder & step fault finding, also Carrying and positioning ladders & step ladders. Pass mark is 80%. Protective footwear & suitable clothing for the practical session. A working knowledge of ladders & Steps would be an advantage but is not essential. All delegates MUST be physically fit and able to carry out any practical during the service. All delegates must hold a valid Ladder Association Users certificate and Photocard ID to attend this course. Yes, a certificate & photocard ID will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions. This will last for 5 years. ½ Day (4 hours) Maximum of 8 delegates 5 NATIONALLY RECOGNISED ACCREDITED LADDERS & STEPS USER COURSE level of training in the Inspection of Ladders & Steps.
4 6 In House Ladders, Steps & Towers HSE What tests will I undertake: This course with have both theory and practical sessions. 7 IN HOUSE LADDERS, STEPS & TOWERS This course would be ideal for operatives that use Ladders, Steps & Scaffold Towers as part of their work. This will show them how to use the equipment correctly & understand the current legislation. Operatives will have the knowledge of how to safely assemble & dismantle scaffold towers and know the correct usage of ladders & steps without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others. They will also be able to safely inspect the equipment prior to use. Introduction, Health & Safety and legislation Accident Awareness & Prevention Hazards & Risk Assessment Scaffold Tower components & Erection Procedures Assembling, moving & dismantling a Tower Pre-Use Scaffold inspection and reports Current Legislation on Ladders & Steps Correct Usage on Ladders & Steps Alternatives for Low-level access Written Test Practical Session Protective footwear, suitable head protection, suitable clothing and gloves for the practical session. No formal qualifications or experience necessary, but it would be beneficial if delegates had a basic understanding of work at height issues. All delegates must be physically fit to carry out the practical session. Yes, an A4 sized certificate is issued to successful candidates who pass the written & practical test. This certificate will last 3 years. This course will take 1 day (6 hours approximately) level of training in the safe use of ladders, steps & towers. IN HOUSE LADDERS, STEPS & TOWERS
5 8 In House Mobile Towers - for 3T (through the Trapdoor) & AGR (Advanced guardrail) systems What tests will I undertake? Lecture, theory assessment, practical training & assessments. 9 IN HOUSE MOBILE TOWERS To ensure personnel are trained to a high level of competence in erecting, Mobilising, inspecting, dismantling Alloy Scaffold towers. Operatives and managers should gain the necessary competence to apply current legislation in relation to employer and employee responsibilities and duties of care, this would include how to carry out legislated Inspection procedures, how to assess W@H hazards, equipment and conduct thus reducing injuries by ensuring correct erecting mobilising and dismantling techniques. Introduction Legislation Health & Safety Accident Awareness / Prevention Tower components Assembling procedures Assembling a Tower Moving a Tower Dismantling a Tower Safe working practices when erecting, during the use of, moving and dismantling a Tower Stability Hazards Theory test with pass/fail criteria Inspection, practical erecting, moving, dismantling, of Alloy scaffold towers. No formal qualifications or experience necessary, but it would be beneficial if delegates had a basic understanding of work at height issues. All delegates must be physically fit to carry out the practical session. Operatives will have the knowledge of how to safely assemble, dismantle & relocate low level access & Scaffold Tower units without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others. They will also be able to safely inspect the equipment prior to use. Yes, a Photocard ID and certificate will be issued to successful candidates who complete the theory and practical sessions. These are valid for 5 years. This course offers convenience & flexibility of two courses in one day. If you assemble, move, dismantle, inspect, and/or use scaffold towers, then this course is for you. Rather than spending two days away from site and the added cost that this can incur, we can combine both courses into one full day s training. What tests will I undertake? 7 NATIONALLY RECOGNISED ACCREDITED LOW LEVEL ACCESS TRAINING COURSE Nationally Recognised Accredited Low Level Access Training Course 12 What tests will I undertake: 13 This course will have both theory and practical sessions. The Nationally Recognised Accredited low level course is recommended for any person who uses low level access equipment. Items including Podium Steps, Folding and Low Level Access Towers have become increasingly widespread in the building industry. This training is aimed at staff & operatives from all workplaces such as construction sites, schools, hospitals, colleges & shops, and industrial units. This training course is ideal for operatives that are using access equipment that is 2.0m or below. Operatives will have the knowledge of how to safely assemble, dismantle & relocate low level access units without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others. They will also be able to safely inspect the equipment prior to use. Introduction & Housekeeping Health & Safety at Work act Standards & regulations Guidance and Information Low Level Equipment options Checking components for damage Assembly/Dismantling of equipment Hazards and Risks User Responsibilities Protective footwear, suitable head protection, suitable clothing and gloves for the practical session. 8 IN HOUSE SAFE USE & PRE - USE INSPECTION OF HARNESSES & LANYARDS In House Safe Use & Pre-Use Inspection of Harnesses & Lanyards 14 What tests will I undertake? 15 Lecture, theory assessment, practical training & assessments. Employer s / employees who, as part of their operational duties, must carry out or supervise any projects when working at height which may involve the use of harnesses & lanyards. This course would also suit managers, charge hands, maintenance staff and supervisors who also manage any work at height that would require the use of harnesses. It aims to provide delegates with basic practical & theoretical knowledge required to effective select and use fall arrest & restraint equipment and to carry out pre-use harness & lanyard inspections. Managers and supervisors will be able to assess whether their work force are using harness equipment safely and in harmony with current safe working practices. Safety footwear, Gloves, Suitable head protection, suitable clothing, *harness and gloves for the practical session. A working knowledge of harnesses would be an advantage but is not essential. All delegates MUST be physically fit and able to carry out any practical during the service. Yes, a certificate of training in the safe use and pre use checks of Harness equipment. 9 Work at Heights Training 16 What tests will I undertake? 17 Lecture there are no Theory or Practical tests WORKING AT HEIGHTS TRAINING The Work at Heights training course gives candidates the underpinning knowledge of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and other health & safety law. It also gives an overview of risk assessment relating to safe working at heights. This course targets employers, the self employed and any person that controls the work of others such as facilities managers or building owners. Aims The aim of this course is to keep it simple and real, whilst all the key subjects are covered of how to work safely at height. The course concentrates on what the delegate really needs to know for the type of work being done, for specific applications and work locations. Attendees should complete the service with knowledge of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and other relevant health & safety law. Its also give an overview of risk assessment relating to safe working at heights. N/A N/A Yes, a certificate in the safe work at heights training will be issued. This will last for 3 years. With this being a half day course (4 Hours), we can carry out 2 sessions in 1 day to cater for larger groups. WORKING AT HEIGHTS TRAINING On completion of this course delegates will be competent to work safely at height with strong hazard awareness and sound theoretical knowledge and practical experience of using fall arrest equipment. Delegates will have the ability to assess the risks and requirements needed for safely working at height n their scope of work. They will also be able to use their job specific fall protection equipment with a high level of efficiency and confidence, as well as have the practical ability to utilize the equipment correctly and safely. The course focuses on what you need to know to use the right working at height safety equipment in order to create the safest working environment possible. The course also develops and instructs on safe methods of working according to the trade and specific work. 10 Manual Handling 18 What tests will I undertake? 19 Lecture & theory assessment. MANUAL HANDLING Our Manual handling course meets the needs of anyone whose work involves lifting or carrying loads. The course translates across all working sectors and all age groups and forms part of the employers Health & Safety statutory requirement. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 apply to a wide range of manual handling activities, including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling or carrying. The load may be either inanimate such as a box or a trolley, or animate - a person or an animal. This guidance gives useful practical advice for employers, managers, safety representatives and individual employees on how to reduce the risk of injury from manual handling. Attendees should complete the service with an understanding of the regulations as well as practical knowledge of lifting and moving. They will be able to identify potential hazards and risks and determine the safest method of manual handling without injury. Managers and supervisors will be able to assess whether their work force are using current safe working manual handling techniques. 11 Abrasive Wheels (Fitting, Using & Supervising) 20 What tests will I undertake? 21 Lecture, theory assessment, practical training & assessments. ABRASIVE WHEELS Operatives whose duties are to include working with and changing abrasive wheels equipment Inc: Hand held Grinders/disc cutters, STIHL saws, bench mounted grinders, cut off saws. Safety footwear, Gloves, High impact Goggles or Visor P3 dust mask & hearing protection. ABRASIVE WHEELS Attendees should complete the service with an understanding of the necessary control measures required for safe use of abrasive wheel equipment, include selection and fitting of disc s and cutters. Managers and supervisors will be able to assess whether their work force are using abrasive wheel equipment safely and in harmony with current safe working practices. All delegates MUST have had a minimum of 3 months employment. They must also be physically fit, able to carry out the practical assessment and have sufficient experience in the work place to be deemed competent to use the equipment after successful training. Review of current legislation Review of HSG 17 (HSE Published guidance for abrasive wheels) Detailed discussion on Noise, dust and vibration hazards and control Changing and selection of wheel/disc types Cutting methods and posture Correct method of stopping and isolating An Abrasive Wheels test Yes, a certificate of training in the safe use and pre use checks of hand held abrasive wheels equipment This will last for 3 years. With this being a half day course (4 Hours), we can carry out 2 sessions in 1 day to cater for larger groups. Alternatively, we can pair this course with another ½ day course like Ladders & Steps, Manual Handling, Harnesses & Lanyards or Work at Heights. We guarantee your operatives will receive the highest level of training in the mounting, use and maintenance of abrasive wheels.
12 Emergency First Aid (1 DAY) EMERGENCY FIRST AID This course is ideal for a member or organisation that is likely to find them taking charge of a first aid emergency or assisting a qualified First Aider. Although not a compulsory requirement, Health & Safety executive recommends this course for those who are appointed to take charge of first aid provision if the number of employees and occupational risks are low. What tests will I undertake? A number of Theory & Practical sessions will take place throughout the day. You will not need to bring anything on this course. No previous experience is required as full basic training will be given. This Emergency First Aid course is designed to offer essential basic skills and knowledge required to administer emergency first aid at work until someone more qualified is available to take charge of the situation. Yes, a certificate of training Emergency First Aid will be issued to all that pass this course. This will last for 3 years.
