BOX 2255 FLEMINGTON, NEW JERSEY (908) WEBSITE: FLEMINGTON-RARITAN PARKS & RECREATION SKI CLUB MANDATORY SKI MEETING TUESDAY, OCTOBER The ski club takes six trips to Shawnee Mountain on Sunday afternoons. We meet at the Hunterdon Central parking lot at 11:45 a.m. and return by 8:30 p.m. Chartered coach buses provide transportation. Although space could be limited, the club s enrollment is open to Flemington and Raritan Township students in Grades 6, 7, & 8. All skiers will be provided with group lessons and will be grouped according to skill level (beginner to advanced). Ski Club operates solely under the Flemington-Raritan Parks & Recreation Committee. Please our office at flemingtonparks@gmail.com with any questions regarding this program. Do not call RFIS, JP Case or any of the staff members at the schools with questions. These calls will not be returned. Box 2255, Flemington, NJ FORMS MUST BE MAILED and REACH THE OFFICE NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 5, 2011! IF THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS NEEDS TO BE LIMITED, REGISTRATIONS WILL BE PRIORITIZED BY POST OFFICE POSTMARK (DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR FORMS AT PARKS & RECREATION OR ANY OF THE SCHOOLS!) 2 PLEASE KEEP THIS SHEET FOR FUTURE REFERENCE PLEASE NOTE THT ALL PERTINENT INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND ON THE SKI CLUB WEBSITE: LISTED BELOW IS THE SKI SCHEDULE FOR THE 2013 SEASON: JANUARY 6 FEBRUARY 10 JANUARY 13 FEBRUARY 24 JANUARY 27 FEBRUARY 3 MAKE UP DATES: March 3, 2013 Skiers are reminded to dress in layers. One pair of quality ski socks is sufficient. Ski gloves/mittens, hats, goggles, neck warmers, face masks, etc. are all recommended. Hats keep your body significantly warmer. Thus better skiing! Food skiers should bring quarters for the lockers and pack brown bag meals/snacks. Although the snack bar sells various foods, they are rather expensive. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING SKIER/PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES OF YOUR CONTRACT: 1. Skiers will report to the Hunterdon Central parking lot at 11:45 a.m. for departure. Parents must wait until skiers board the buses before leaving. Pick up will be at 8:30 p.m. Parents must be there on time. No skier is allowed to call for a pick-up when we reach Hunterdon Central. Any skier who is not picked up on time will forfeit the next ski trip. 2. It is imperative that you check the ski club website for weekly updates and cancellations. Cancellations will be posted on the website by 10:30 a.m. on the day of the trip. It is the responsibility of the skiers to check for cancellations. At the present time, we can only guarantee one absentee voucher per skier. Vouchers will be available after our second trip to Shawnee Mountain. Ski Club members or immediate family may use the skier s absentee voucher during the month of March One voucher per skier. 3. Skiers are reminded that reckless skiing will not be tolerated. Marked ticket equals one hour of missed skiing the following trip. Ripped ticket forfeits the next trip no flexibility! We don t want you on the mountain if you can t be safe! Misbehavior on the bus could forfeit the next trip with the possibility of termination of your transportation to Shawnee. NO REFUND. 4. Skiers will check in with the chaperones at 5:00 p.m. at the base of the lodge. Chaperones will be at the main clock by 5:00 p.m. to allow everyone enough time to check in with their bus chaperone. Any skier late will lose time on the slopes for the next trip. Consistent tardiness could result in forfeiting a trip. 5. Skiers are reminded they must ski with a buddy and/or buddies. No exceptions! No one skis alone ever! 6. Skiers are to get off the slopes by 7 p.m. in order to get equipment turned in to the rental shop and load the buses for the 7:15 p.m. departure. 7. Skiers will take a lesson each trip to Shawnee Mountain. Failure to attend the group lesson will forfeit the next trip. Skilled skiers are safe and successful skiers. The last trip requires no lesson as it is a free ski day. 8. Ski smart helmets are recommended.
