Trip Insurance It s been said that trip insurance is never needed until it s needed. What should you know about trip insurance? You must purchase trip insurance coverage before it is needed. Once you recognize the need, it is too late to protect your trip. After the initial trip payment is made and you have a good grasp of your total expected trip cost, it is good time to get the most accurate quote. An example of coverage for a $1,500 trip within the United States for a 60-year-old is approximately $63 through If you need coverage for a pre-existing medical condition, there are time-sensitive eligibility requirements tied to your initial trip payment and you may have a limited amount of time to buy a plan. Web Site FIND US ON CSC Membership Form The membership form can be found on page 5 in this newsletter. Membership is mandatory to participate in trips organized by the Cornhusker Ski Club. A completed and signed form must be submitted with dues payable to the Cornhusker Ski Club. The board approved revisions to the Cornhusker Ski Club Trip Policies. Please take a moment to read the policies printed on the lower half of the membership form. Monthly Cornhusker Ski Club Meetings 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 7:00 p.m. Sept. 18 Oct. 16 Nov. 13 Jan. 15, 2019 Feb. 19,

2 CSC s Breakfast in the Park Breakfast in the park this year was good to last bite of food. The pictures tell the story that no one had to take home left overs. Thank you to the many members who brought food and shared with the club. Judie Svoboda, a longtime member, visited Lincoln at the perfect time. Judie and another longtime member, Jerry McAuliffe, surprised several ski club members when they arrived at the breakfast. Judie and her husband, Ward, moved to Pennsylvania 14 years ago. Ward passed away earlier this year and Judie was visiting friends and relatives in Nebraska. In 1988, Judie and Ward met skiing on a club trip to Vail and a year later, they were married at Vail during a ski club trip. Ski club members attended their ceremony complete with a flower girl (Anne Burkholder) and attendants (Gary and Sandy Vosta). Judie and Ward were very active in the club, serving on the board, trip captains and helping where they could. Becky Akert, President welcomed everybody to the breakfast and then introduced the Trip Captains. Hollis Anderson, trip captain, told about the December trip to Copper Mountain, Jenny Simpson, trip captain for FSA Steamboat got us excited to join other flatlanders in January, and then Tom Becker, trip captain for the third trip the club is offering to Copper Mountain in February. Jerry McAuliffe and his wife, Nola, (now deceased), were also long time members of the club. Jerry resides in Lincoln but hasn t skied for several years. Jerry skied as often as he could while Nola was a good roomie in the 90 s. Jerry also often helped with club activities. All the members had a great time catching up with each other after so many years. We hope to see both Judie and Jerry again someday. 2

3 good reasons to join the Cornhusker Ski Club! Welcome to ski season !! Snow will soon be flying and the Cornhusker Ski Club is preparing to enjoy the slopes of Colorado this upcoming season. Early bird discount: Sign up for a trip before October 1 and save $ There has been great success for planning purposes from the early signup so the board again voted to give our members a break on the trip prices to encourage participants to sign up early. Resorts are inserting earlier lodging cutoffs into their contracts so YOU save money by signing up early to accommodate the decisions. Solo bunks: A solo sleeping bunk may be available at a cost of $80.00 if the bus does not fill. Let your trip captain know and get on the list! New member discount: New members are given a $25.00 discount upon trip signup. Please encourage people you have met that ski/board to join us and mention this discount. A person that has been a member in the past (before May 1, 2015) that renews membership could also be eligible for this discount on a trip. along the ridge. The American Eagle lift is being replaced with a combination lift that features both 6- person chairs & 8-person gondolas. We just couldn t beat that deal!! Trip Captain: Contact Hollis Anderson at or cell: Address to mail checks: 1040 N. 86 th Ct., Lincoln, NE DATES: Depart Friday night, December 7 on Windstar Lines. Those of you with season or 4 packs, take note! COPPER MOUNTAIN IN DECEMBER TWO NEW LIFTS!! Wait a minute.csc went there last year! Yes, we are returning because Copper Mt. has offered us great lodging prices and low, low lift ticket prices! Along with this offer, we will be some of the first skiers to use the two NEW LIFTS at the base of Copper Mt. The American Flyer lift will be a high-speed 6-person chair with bubble enclosure to protect against the winds $ includes 3-day lift ticket, transportation, lodging, bus beverages and welcome party. Add $42.00 for 4 th day lift or subtract $42.00 for less than 3 days. DRIVEOUTS: Drive outs will pay the same price until the bus is full per CSC policy. 4 FSA LOVE THE BOAT - STEAMBOAT SPRINGS! Steamboat continues to be one of our most popular trips. This trip is your chance to ski with Billy Kidd for free pointers and a run with Billy down Heavenly Daze. You may also want to hit the hot springs after a day of skiing. You can soak in the hot springs downtown or take a shuttle to Strawberry Park (Beware: we hear suits are optional at night!) TRIP CAPTAIN: Contact Jennifer Simpson at or cell Address to mail checks: 7901 Anna Place, Lincoln, NE DATES: Depart Tuesday, January 22, 2019 on Windstar Lines. Load in Lincoln at 7:00 p.m., depart at 7:30 p.m. We will ski Wednesday through Sunday and return early Monday morning, January 28. Skiers can ski to the condo but will need to walk out or ride the shuttle. There will be a pizza party the first night. TRIP PRICES: $ before October 1 includes 4 day lift, bus, lodging, bus beverages, FSA activities and pizza party. Deposit $200.00, $ at October 15 meeting, remainder due at November 15. Add $49.00 for 5 th day lift. Subtract $69.00 from basic trip cost for less lift days. All prices increase $50 after October 1, The CSC board voted to again allow drive/fly outs at a reduced price. WWWHHHHAAAAATTTTT!!!!!! CSC is offering a third trip!!!!! We have had numerous requests for a third trip during the height of ski season. So this year, we are offering a drive-out trip in February to Copper Mountain. It s close, it s convenient, and Copper is again offering cheap lift tickets and inexpensive 2-bedroom, 2 bath lodging even during the best of snow days!! And don t forget: there are two new lifts!!
