That s all you can say! Snow piled feet at every parking lot, 8 along the well-plowed roads in the town of Mammoth Lakes awesome in Big Bear! No excuses! The holiday is Presidents Day Weekend! If you are not at Big White with a few of us, or doing a day trip to Big Bear, then you must be at the Club Condo in Mammoth, February 16-19! Maybe the only deal in town! Racers will be privy to 2 races, S & GS, 2 runs each. And, Letty will put on a great Club Dinner (like January)! Spring Skiing! During the past 25 years, I do not recall snow so thoroughly blanketing Mammoth Mountain. Every run is groomed. Almost every run had something for everyone. Tree skiing. Bumps of all sizes. The Chair 5 hill is totally skiable no roping off ½ of it. The only problem is that we do not have a newsletter editor to effectively bring the sights and parties effectively to you! We need you it takes only a few hours. The summer bicycling/wine tasting/cruising trip is on. Only a few seats/beds left. Your ski bum Prez, Kris Please talk to your favorite Board Member about serving Your Club volunteer & elected positions. P.S. The LA Council meets at Ecco s Monday, Feb 20 at 6 pm. You are welcome to attend, but must send your own dime for pizza.

No February social events because of two 7 day ski trips scheduled. In March, the Club will have its annual Saint Patrick's Day Party. Watch for upcoming flyers for details. Lance Nicely, they saved a space for the President at the other end of the table between Rockin new member, Luis, and a pretty new member, Jill. 10 Mammoth Weekend Ski Trip Report By Roberto Tovar The January Mammoth trip was, once again, a variety of conditions. Friday was a fine day of skiing, blue bird skies and plenty of snow. Saturday dawned snowy with a blizzard at the Main Lodge. It was an Early ups day for season pass holders, after skiing a few runs, I stepped into Mc Coy Station for hearty free breakfast! I ended skiing at 11:30 AM, as the temperature was rising and it was becoming wet. It was raining on Sunday, so Letty G. and I left Mammoth Lakes early, with a stop at Tom s Place for breakfast. Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of their control, three club members had to cancel their trip to Mammoth that weekend, so that Letty Gonzales and I were in the condo by ourselves. But, Saturday night we were joined by member Hsin Chou and a party of 5 for the club dinner, also making an appearance was Mike Zullo. Dinner was prepared by Letty, my thanks to her for doing all the cooking! Here is the schedule for the coming Mammoth Ski weekends! Feb 16 th thru 19 th, 2017 more snow coming! Mar 9 th thru 12 th, 2017 Mar 30 th thru Apr 2 nd, 2017 April and May dates tbd Spring Skiing! Weekend Trip Application at LongBeachSkiClub.org. Download it, fill it out, and mail it to me with a check made out to the Long Beach Ski Club. The address is on the form. Weekend Trip Fee is now $220 per 4-day / 3-night wonderful weekend. I hope to see all of you up at Mammoth this coming season. Roberto From Shep: A new restaurant on your way to Mammoth is in Mojave, a little place called Mojave Cafe, which is where the old Road House restaurant was. Very good food at reasonable prices also a good bar very soon. Check it out on your next trip to Mammoth. It s a good place to stop either on your way up, or down.

On a side street off of Old Mammoth Road C J's Grill The chef/owner comes up with On Old Mammoth Road interesting variations of old favorite dishes. Campo's A nice take on modern Italian cooking. In the Mammoth Village Berger's Simple, good comfort food. On Minaret Road, across from the Village Toomey's An interesting take on comfort food, bison meatloaf, anyone? On Minaret Road, down from the Village. Angel's Good rib stickin' grub, with onion rings On Main Street, just past Motel 6. to die for! Roberto's A good Mexican taco/burrito joint, but On Old Mammoth Road be prepared for noise. Further afield are: Tamarack Lodge I've never been, but have had great reports from friends who have. Up above town, in the Lakes Basin Convict Lake Inn Elegant dining, the best wine service in On Convict Lake, down 395, Tom's Place Cafe the Mammoth area. Under new owners. If a storm chases you out of Mammoth, this is a good place for a good country breakfast. across from the airport. Down 395, in the village of Tom's Place The hands down best restaurant in Mammoth, according to an overheard conversation on the town shuttle, was opened by the former chef of Tamarack Lodge. It is located on the second floor, above the bowling alley. Try it and give me a report! All of the restaurants in Mammoth Lakes can be reached on the evening Red line bus, which runs between the Snowcreek Athletic Club and Mammoth village.
