2 ALL : ALL : Run for 9 weeks, beginning January 6th, 2018 including the weekend of Club Championships March 3rd, 2018 All ages are as of December 31, 2017 Timing for all Programs is 9:30 11:30 AM and 12:30 2:30 PM All Programs are two days Saturday AND Sunday Time trials for all competitive participants Dec 31st 2017 All athletes must be able to ski/ snowboard at a competent level * if unsure a determination will be made from the Head Coach Helmets are required at all times and must have the full hard shell covering the ears for races Athletes train in Groups while focussing on individual performance. Athletes will travel to other ski areas approximately 5 times during the season Registration Deadline is October 30, After this date, athletes may be placed on a waiting list. 3 PRE-PROGRAM CAMPS: DRYLAND TRAINING OPEN TO ALL ATHLETES including ADULTS! Get an edge on the season by getting into shape for your best skiing, boarding, freestyling ever! Strongly recommended for all competitive athletes. NOTE: Program is 7 weeks and all dates are Sundays. DATES: October 15th, 22nd, 29th, November 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, 2017 TIME: WHERE: 11:00 am 1:00 pm The Heights Clubhouse lower lever or outside COACHES: FEE: Wayne Knox $200 per person 3 These sessions will comprise of a combination of trail running with dynamic training fundamentals and soccer with some surprises. Fitness testing is a component of this training module. All athletes must come prepared with running shoes each day as the schedule may change due to weather. Dryland training will happen rain or shine. NOTES: i. Dryland training is included in the Competitive Enhanced Training Package Price; ii. 4 PRE-PROGRAM CAMPS: JAY PEAK PRE-SEASON RACE TRAINING CAMP - DECEMBER 11 TH 16 TH, 2017 MUST be Heights member(s) in good standing ATHLETES MUST BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF AOA FOR THE 2017/18 SEASON TO ATTEND THE CAMP U10 (7, 8 and 9 yrs old), U12, U14, U16 and U18/21 December with Heights Coaches - lots of mileage, technical development, gate training, dryland fitness, stretching, nutrition, etc. Full package will include accommodation, some meals, lift tickets (5 days), waterpark entry, coaching, and gate training Deadline for booking with admin@theheightsofhorseshoe.com is October 1st,

5 CHRISTMAS CAMPS: COMPETTIVE CAMPS (Race & Freestyle): U10 (7, 8 and 9 yr old), U12, U14, U16 & U18/21 2 CAMPS: DATES: TIME: Camp 1-27th - 30th December *Mandatory Time Trials December 31st AND Camp 2 - January 2nd - 5th 2018 *Mandatory Time trails December 31st 9:30 am 11:30 am AND 12:30 pm 2:30 pm FEE: $250 Both camps are included in Enhanced Program 5 Must meet minimum age requirement and be able to get on and off lift without assistance.

6 CORE TRAINING PACKAGE and ENHANCED TRAINING PACKAGE (the following package descriptions apply to all competitive race programs that follow) Core Training Package: $1,000 includes 25 days of training, every Sat and Sunday for 9 weeks, Race Banquet, Club Championships and time trials included. Enhanced Training Package (includes additional hour of turbo training): $1,650 includes 35 days of training, both Christmas Camps, all Friday Training sessions, every Sat and Sunday for 9 weeks, Heights Dryland training and testing, Race Banquet, Club Championships and time trials included. FRIDAY TRAINING - 9 days (included in Enhanced Training Package) IMPORTANT REGARDING ALL FRIDAY TRAINING: 6 To ensure proper coach/athlete ratios and provide quality coaching, you MUST sign up for Friday training by the TUESDAY prior to the FRIDAY you or your athlete will be attending. If you have signed up for Friday training and do not attend, there will be NO refund. SIGN UP APPLIES EVEN IF YOU VE PURCHASED PREPAID for 9 DAYS!! Friday Training gives the athlete an opportunity to gain some extra mileage in and out of the gates and is a supplement to the regular Core program. Focus will be on gate training and technical skill development through training and drill courses. AGES: 17 to 84 years old as of December 31, 2017 DATES: Jan. 12, 19, 26, Feb. 2, 9, 16, 23, March 2 TIMES: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm FEE(S): Single day $60; Prepaid 9 days $400 non-transferable and non-refundable. NOTE: We offer FRIDAY ADULT GATE TRAINING at THE HEIGHTS. We will require a MINIMUM of 6 adults per Friday to run this.

7 COMPETITIVE SNOW SPORT PROGRAMS: U10 (Ages 7, 8 & 9) AGES: as of December 31, 2017 DATES: TIMES: NOTES: Saturday and Sunday 9:30 11:30 am and 12:30 2:30 pm 1) All athletes in this Program MUST register at and follow the instructions for Registration; FEES: Core Training Package: $1,000 OR Enhanced Training Package: $1,650 Note: minimum 7 athletes required for this pricing. Based on Alpine Canada s ski progression system, emphasis is on the development of physical capabilities such as agility, balance, coordination, flexibility and endurance through fun activities. This program will create the versatility and diversity that young skiers need to become good racers and freestyle competitors by maximizing their training in environments that combine freestyle and race elements. The focus is on mileage, fun and fundamental skill development. Athletes must be confident on all terrain and be able to ride lifts unassisted. Some travel to other resorts is required. U12 (Ages 10 & 11) 7 AGES: 10 & 11 as of December 31, 2017 DATES: TIMES: Saturday and Sunday 9:30 11:30 am and 12:30 2:30 pm FEES: Core Training Package: $1,000 OR Enhanced Training Package: $1,650 U12 is based on Alpine Canada s Long Term Athletic Development Stage Skier Essentials/ Learn to Train focusing on skill levels 3, 4 & 5 of the Alpine Canada Snowstars program. Competition events are to be focused on the development of ski racing while continuing to promote the development of overall skiing skills. Skill development will continue through technical free skiing and gate training. Use of video analysis to assist athletes in self-analysis.

8 COMPETITIVE PROGRAM DETAILS U14 (Ages 12 & 13) AGES: 12 & 13 as of December 31, 2017 DATES: Saturday and Sunday TIMES: 9:30 11:30 am and 12:30 2:30 pm FEES: Core Training Package: $1,000 OR Enhanced Training Package: $1,650 This program continues to build on Alpine Canada s Snowstars ski progression system and the LTAD Stage of Learn to Train/Learn to Race (Snowstars level 6 & 7). Athletes will continue the development of ski racing skills while beginning to promote performance on demand with technical free skiing and skill refinement. Athletes will experience gate training specific to Slalom (SL) and Giant Slalom (GS) disciplines. Use of video analysis to assist athletes in self-analysis. U16 (Ages 14 & 15) AGES: 14 & 15 as of December 31, 2017 DATES: Saturday and Sunday TIMES: 9:30 11:30 am and 12:30 2:30 pm FEES: Core Training Package: $1,000 OR Enhanced Training Package: $1,650 Emphasis at U16 follows Alpine Canada s LTAD Stage of Learn to Race and progressing into Train to Race with the development of ski racing skills and promoting performance on demand by improving skill refinement through technical free ski exercises and gate training. Use of video analysis to assist athletes in self-analysis. 8 U18/21 (Ages 16-20) AGES: as of December 31, 2017 DATES: Saturday and Sunday TIMES: 9:30 11:30 am and 12:20 2:30 pm FEES: Core Training Package: $1,000 OR Enhanced Training Package: $1,650 Program is as outlined for U16 following the LTAD Stage of Learn to Race progressing to Train to Race and Train to Win. Athlete performance becomes a strong focus while the development of strong skiing skills remains a crucial element of the program. Depending on number of participants, the U18/21 s will train under direction of the Head Coach.

9 COMPETITIVE PROGRAM DETAILS O CUP DIVISION 1 RACING - U14/U16 (Ages 12-15) This program is for the athlete who is looking for a higher competitive level of racing and requires an on-snow commitment of race training a minimum of 3 days per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), participation in the fall Dryland Training & Testing and a Pre-season Race Camp. Depending on the number of participants interested, Thursday training may be available. Please talk to Heights Race Administrator Janet Dryden for more information. Must be registered in the Enhanced program Fitness testing Mandatory for Div 1 Racing - O Cup Division 1 Race entry Fees are additional 9 Athletes will have a designated coach/mentor and will compete in slalom, giant slalom and speed races included on the Alpine Ontario Division 1 race calendar. All athletes racing in Division 1 have the opportunity to qualify for the Provincials and the Mid-Winter CanAm races based on athlete s points.

10 FREESTYLE/SLOPESTYLE U12 (Ages 10&11), U14 (ages 12&13), U16 (Ages 14 & 15) FREESTYLE - U12: Emphasis is placed on continued ski improvement with an introduction to freestyle elements and terrain features, rails and boxes. Athletes will learn how to hit entry level jumps, how to get on, off and ride entry level rails/boxes as well as entry level tricks. Athletes will learn how to assess a feature properly as to whether it is safe to use or not. Athletes should be competent parallel skiers (skier ability will be assessed during the first weekend). Twin tips will be required for entry into this program. Helmets are mandatory for all participants. FREESTYLE (SLOPESTYLE) - U14/U16 (open to this age group ONLY) This program is for individuals interested in Freestyle skiing and training on a variety of features in the terrain park including rails, slide boxes and jumps of varying styles and sizes. Emphasis will also be on developing general freestyle ski technique including how to hit jumps properly and safely while learning various manoeuvres in the air (ie. spins, grabs). Athletes will learn how to get on, off and ride more advanced rails and boxes. They will learn how to assess a feature properly and assess whether it is safe to use. Athletes should be comfortable in the park environment and competent parallel skiers. Twin tips will be required for entry into this program. Opportunities to participate in open freestyle events as well as Freestyle Ontario events are additional. 11 COACHING, RACING AND MENTORSHIP PROGRAM C.R.A.M.P. ** ** Must have a Coaching Entry Level Designation This is the program for year olds who want some Coaching experience while still competing in higher level ski races. Each participant will be paid when they coach with the Recreational Programs. In order to coach they must race in at least 4 of the 10 possible races during the season (both Slalom and GS disciplines). In order to race, each participant must take part in daily mandatory training at 8:40 am and 3:00 pm following working with their programs. During training they will gain both coaching and racing experience. 11 A senior Heights coach will be assigned to mentor and train these young coaching racers during the season to provide feedback and insight and arrange race schedule. FEE: $600 NOTE: ALL participants MUST train. No training = No racing = No pay.

12 TURBO TRAINING 9 weeks Extra Training included in Enhanced Program Take advantage of extra training Both technical and gate traing with video analysis This is a one hour program that takes place after programs. DATES: TIMES: FEES: $250 Every Saturday & Sunday 2:30pm 3:30pm 12

13 LESSONS AND COURSES PRIVATE LESSONS 1 Hour with Level 1 or 2 CSIA or CASI Instructor $70 for one person ($30 each additional person) 2 Hours with Level 1 or 2 CSIA or CASI Instructor $120 for one person ($50 each additional person) 1 Hour with Level 3 CSIA or CASI Instructor $80 for one person ($40 each additional person) 1 Hour with Level 4 CSIA Snow Sport Director $180 for one person ($90 each additional) CERTIFICATION COURSES AVAILABLE For information on becoming a certified Ski Instructor, please speak with: The Heights Alpine Director. INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (Age 14+) If you are under 17 years old, you must be in this program to be a Ski/Snowboard Assistant. This program will train and prepare students for the CSIA Level I certification course. Students must already be competent parallel skiers or snowboarders on all blue (intermediate) runs. 14 LEVELS OF ABILITY BEGINNER NOVICE INTERMEDIATE ADVANCED EXPERT You are new to the activity and have very little or no previous experience at all. You will learn to slide, balance, stop and turn; get on and off the chairlift. You can get around on green & easy blue runs. At this level, you are able to turn & stop. Still shaky with speed & terrain changes, you spend most of your time on moderate terrain, generally green trails. You are able to get on and off the chairlift (if tall enough) on your own. As a skier, your skis are parallel most of the time on green & blue slopes. You can handle blue slopes with ease & control. You can navigate some black runs & some bumpy terrain. You are comfortable on blue & black slopes, can ski at faster speeds in control and navigate through the bumps & glades. You are looking for refinement. You can adjust to any terrain, speed or condition. You can easily adjust your technique for most efficient results & can mimic other techniques. You are looking for new ways to adjust & adapt for even better results.
