2017 Community Investment Summary Pembina strives to build lasting relationships. Through partnerships and volunteerism we seek to improve the quality of life and sustainability of our communities, now and for years to come community giving allocation by focus areas We concentrate our efforts on organizations that improve access to education, protect or preserve the environment, promote safety, create community spaces and encourage wellness. When our communities succeed, we succeed. Community Building Education Health & Recreation Safety & Environment Fuel 4 Thought Signature Program Community investment budget allocation $5,000,000 $4,000,000 $3,000,000 $2,000,000 $1,000,000 $ Community Giving Employee Giving Programs Summary 3
Safety & Environment Safety and the environment are our top priorities, not only as an operator but as a member of the community. We invest in initiatives aimed at enhancing community safety preparedness and fostering environmental conservation. How we help keep communities safe Into the wild When the Calgary Zoo asked Pembina to help save the endangered sage grouse, employees flocked together to help ensure the birds were fed throughout the winter by collecting sage brush. Near Kamloops, Pembina s Western System pipeline travels through prime sage brush area, as the right-of-way has to be free of larger vegetation. Together, the team in Kamloops gathered over 40 large containers of sage enough to feed the birds for more than half the winter. We had a good group and everyone worked hard, said Don Simpson, Operator. It was great to help, knowing we were providing food for the birds. Air Ambulances Fire Departments The sage grouse is native to southern Saskatchewan, and is found in many of the communities along our Vantage pipeline. In two years, when the captive birds are strong enough in numbers as well as size the Zoo will release them into their natural habitat, and Pembina will be there to help. Safety Education & Events Pembina employees and Ryan Nielson, Habitat Manager, Calgary Zoo, on our Western System right-of-way. 4
Education We believe everyone should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. This is why we support programs that improve access to education and industry-based training, and provide capacity-building opportunities. How we support education Investing in skilled youth For the last five years, Pembina has supported Skills Alberta Canada, an organization that promotes excellence in trades and technology skills competitions, and handson training programs for students. Through our funding, over 10,000 students from across Alberta are bused from 71 schools to the Skills Provincial Event in Edmonton, where they engage in various trya-trade opportunities to learn about possible careers in trades. Libraries Literacy & Development Scholarships Schools Trades & Technology Pembina tradesman, Larry Christensen and Ryan Pendrak demonstrate how pipelines work to a group of students from Grande Prairie, AB. Having industry partners like Pembina supporting and actively engaging with the 10,000 students on our field trip is incredibly impactful. Our industry partners are able to offer insights into the rewarding career opportunities available in the trades and technologies, and their support is instrumental in our mission to inspire, develop and elevate Alberta s skilled youth. - Chris Browton, Executive Director, Skills Canada Alberta 5
Community Building We invest in events and community spaces that reflect the particular needs of the communities where we operate. We support initiatives aimed at bringing people together, creating or renovating community spaces that are accessible for all, and enriching cultural experiences. Building a home for Calgary seniors Over the past three years, Pembina employees have volunteered more than 800 hours with Silvera for Seniors. This year when our Supply Chain team headed out to Silvera as part of their annual group volunteering, they were excited to learn from VP Claudia D Orazio that Pembina is investing in Silvera s Elbow Valley site through the RESOLVE Campaign. How we bring communities together Community & Recreation Centres Cultural Events Playgrounds Housing Infastructure Claudia D Orazio, VP, HR, Pembina (middle) presents Pembina s donation to Arlene Adamson, CEO, Silvera, and Alan Norris, Chair, RESOLVE Cabinet. RESOLVE aims to address the serious social and economic issue of homelessness by the end of the next decade Calgary could have as many as 15,000 people homeless. The goal of the campaign is to raise $120 million to build affordable rental housing for 3,000 Calgarians. 6
Health & Recreation We understand that communities thrive when they have access to exceptional health care, healthy options and recreation opportunities. How we invest in healthy communities Fresh Food for rural communities Pembina continued to support the Fresh Food Fund, a partnership with Food Banks Alberta that offers grants to rural food banks to purchase fresh, healthy food. This year, not only did we offer funding for 27 food banks and provide over 287,000 meals, but our staff also pitched in to volunteer over 390 hours sorting and loading food at their community food banks. Food Security Hospitals Poverty Reduction & Social Services Recreational Programming Pembina Sherwood Park employees volunteer day at the Edmonton Food Bank. 7
Pembina s Signature Program Connecting Kids to Their Potential Here are highlights from the first year of the program (2016/17 school year): At Pembina, we re committed to making sure that all kids have the ability to reach their full potential, and we know that a good day starts with a good breakfast. This is why two years ago we launched our signature community investment program, Fuel 4 Thought, in partnership with Breakfast Club of Canada. Through this program, we have invested over $1 million in support of nutritious breakfast programs in high-needs schools within many of our operating areas. Over 1,200 students accessed the programs daily, for a total of 211,695 breakfasts served. On average, concentration time increased, adding 1,485 minutes to teaching time in schools with the program. Schools saw a 67% decrease in the number of daily interventions due to health-related issues. 131 Pembina employees volunteered 382 hours with Fuel 4 Thought. This isn t just about providing a healthy meal to children. Pembina is supporting a larger initiative by providing our youth with an equal opportunity to flourish in the classroom. The ability for our future leaders to focus and learn on a full stomach only enhances their learning experience. I am extremely proud to be a part of a program that is so impactful. - Jaret Sprott, SVP, COO, Facilities, Pembina Pembina employees celebrate the opening of a breakfast program at Dr. KA Clark Elementary school in Fort McMurray, after the 2016 fires impacted many of the students. 8

The smallest efforts can sometimes bring the biggest impacts to our communities. We all pitch in to provide support, give back and encourage others to get involved. Success in our community is not measured by the efforts of one but by the efforts of many. - Sandra Munger, Administrator Sherwood Park, Pembina Our Empress office organizes a Ride to Work event, where employees ride their bikes for six hours from Medicine Hat to our facility in Burstall, SK Employee Giving Highlights 10
