3 Sage International School 2018 Junior High/High School Snow Team Information Packet The Bogus Basin School Race Program has three goals: 1) Provide a safe environment on the slopes in which to participate; 2) Encourage students to represent and compete for their school in a lifesport activity. This provides a venue for many students to represent their school that they might not otherwise have. 3) Provide a level of competition in which the maximum number of students can participate. The overall philosophy is to provide friendly competition and encourage participation. Sage International School s teams have room for all ability levels. Junior High team is for 6 th through 8 th grades. High School team is for 9 th through 12 th grades. Students can sign up for Nordic, slalom, or freestyle/freeride (or more than one) when they enroll. Students choose to register as a skier or snowboarder for slalom or freestyle. Members can compete in more than one discipline and only pay one registration fee. A student could do Nordic, freestyle/freeride, and/or alpine but will need to hustle from one course to another. The member also chooses his or her ability level: expert, intermediate, or novice (novice not available for freestyle / freeride). Team members can move up or down in ability level during season by contacting the ski team advisor. Those registered for freestyle/freeride MUST complete the Terrain Park Smart video to get a helmet sticker. The student MUST have this sticker on their helmet to participate in the Bogus Basin schools races. It is recommended that all students watch the Terrain Park Smart video on the Bogus Basin website and print the certificate All races are held at Bogus Basin. Races are six consecutive Saturdays from January 13 th to February 17 th, then the final (22 or 23 rd February). Full schedule is later in this package. Nordic races are at the Frontier Point (Nordic Lodge). All other races are in the Bitterroot area by Pioneer Lodge, off Lift #5. Questions? Joel Huettig, joelhuettig@hotmail.com, is the Junior High team advisor. Chris Marshall, chris.marshall@sageinternationalschool.org, is the High School team advisor. Mr. Bogdanoff is the faculty sponsor. Team meetings will be posted at the school and distributed through the listed on the registration form. 3

The race program is now sponsored by Bogus Basin and students come from 30 high schools and 40 junior high schools throughout the Treasure Valley. Racing in the finals is not a requirement to be on the team. However, a student that does not race in the finals will not receive an overall placement.
