2 General Information Welcome to the 2014 Emirates Palace SUP Festival and thank you for your registration! The Abu Dhabi Stand Up Paddlers along with all of the sponsors are excited to see so many people join in the festival on Friday, March 21 st. A great day is ahead of us! Please take a few minutes to read through this document to ensure you re fully aware of the event info, procedures and your participation in Friday s event. We are very lucky to be able to experience such an event at the iconic Emirates Palace, but we must respect their rules and requests to ensure they support future events for SUP, thank you! Let s have fun, share the stoke and make it a day to remember! In this document you will find the following information: - Registration Info / General Rules / Race Rules - Event Schedule - Location Map - Event Map - Race Courses Registration Info / General Rules / Race & SUP Rules Registration: Everyone must check- in to participate in the race even if you registered online Everyone participating must sign a LIABILITY RELEASE WAIVER All participants must acknowledge they know how to swim Please ensure you have your number written on your RIGHT leg and your RIGHT arm Each participant will receive a wristband to determine your pre- registration or on the day registration status All participants will receive a BBQ if you don t plan to attend the bbq help us avoid waste and let us know at check- in Participants who pre- registered on Premier Online will receive event t- shirt, lunch and bbq dinner

3 If you are registering on the day of race please have payment ready of 200 AED for adults or 100 AED for kids this includes bbq only There were a few incomplete online registrations if we don t have you on our list then your payment was not completed and you will need to pay. If registered, a confirmation would ve been sent to you regarding your payment if unsure please show us your If you purchased extra bbq vouchers please pick up bbq vouchers upon check- in. If you need to purchase more these are available. General Rules & Info: DO NOT bring in food from outside. You are OK to bring sports drinks, water and energy bars but NO COOLERS or outside food. Spectators and those who register on the day of can purchase food at the Emirates Palace beach bar/restaurant Please follow the security guards parking directions, there will be many cars they will direct you as needed see Location MAP below Emirates Palace will provide water through coolers please bring your water bottles to fill water KEEP HYDRATED There is a drop off roundabout by the beach please drop off your board and then quickly park your care to avoid any congestion Bathrooms are located near the beach restaurant on the other side of the watersports shack We are welcome to play volleyball and use their football field Please listen to lifeguards if they provide any requests to participants. This includes avoiding swimming area designated for snorkeling only this is dangerous during low tide Race & SUP Rules: All paddlers 12 years and under MUST WEAR A LIFEJACKET this is an EP rule and no exceptions. Lifejackets are available. Please listen to race briefing maps of courses will be available All starts will have a 1 minute countdown with a single horn then a 5 second countdown to a long horn 1km, 3km, 6km & Triathlon will all have beach runs please avoid the race course on the water and land don t interfere with racers just cheer from the side

4 1km, 3km, 6km & Triathlon will have beach start/finish Naish Sprints will have water start/finish You must do the beach run for the 1km, 3km, and 6km with your paddle in hand. You must cross the finish line for the 1km, 3km, 6km and Triathlon with the paddle in your hand your whole body must pass the finish line at the entrance of the beach run chute as marked by flags. 6 Race Courses 1km, 3km and 6km races all have beach run. These are 50 meters in length and you must hold your paddle in hand 1km: 500 meter x 2 laps + 1 Beach Run 3km: 1.5km laps x 2 laps + 1 Beach Runs 6km: 1.5km laps x 4 laps + 3 Beach Runs

7 Mini SUP Triathlon: 200m swim, 500m run (2 laps), 500m paddle 200m Naish One Sprint Race: 200m sprint water start/finish and heats of 6 paddlers - knock out format
