1 GLOBAL MOBILITY INBOUND STUDENT ORIENTATION TRIMESTER 3, 2018 All new Study Abroad and Exchange students must attend the Global Mobility Inbound Student Orientation. The session will cover essential information including important dates, enrolment, visa requirements, and life on campus. We will also have guest speakers, competitions, and prize giveaways! Nathan Campus For students who are based at the Nathan, Mt Gravatt, Logan, or South Bank campuses. 14 Extreme Gnarly Griffith University Orientation Escape The eastern most point on the Australian coastline is home to the more alternative communities of Oz. This small seaside town has drawn those seeking a more relaxed lifestyle from all over the country, and various parts of the world. This weekend allows you to play on this awesome coastline, while still learning to surf, heading out for a paddle in a sea kayak, a bit of hiking and much more. Our accommodation is centrally located, close to all the local nightspots which have been organized to guarantee that it s not only the days that involve you getting to know your fellow students. Sure you can do Byron yourself, but why would you when the ultimate way to kick off your time down under is right here. PLEASE NOTE TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE A CONFIRMED PICK UP TIME WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE GRIFFITH ORIENTATION SESSION. Day One 26 th October FRIDAY Day One 26 th October, Friday (meals included Dinner) 4.00Pm Pick up Nathan Campus (The Circuit Bus Stop). 5.00Pm Pick up Gold Coast Campus, (Parklands Drive Bus Stop) 6.30pm Arrive in Byron bay. Check in to your rooms freshen up and meet by the pool for drinks and dinner. After dinner it s time to check out Byron Bay's nocturnal activities. Day Two 27 th October, Saturday (meals included - Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Day Two 27 th October SATURDAY 8.00am Breakfast at Hostel. 9.00am Head down to the beach for either surfing lessons or sea kayaking with dolphins amSwitch over activities. 1.00pm Switch activities if needed. For those with free time lunch will be served by the pool, and some beach games will begin! 3.00pm Free afternoon to just chill out, or maybe try sky diving/whale watching.

30pm Meet back at your accommodation and prepare for the hike to the lighthouse, Australia s most eastern point! 4.30 Head back to campus.

15 Day Three 28 th October, Sunday (meals included Breakfast, Lunch) Day Three 28 th October SUNDAY 8.00am Breakfast at Hostel, and time to pack up. 9.00am Now we'll head down to the beach get any activities done that you haven t done yet! 2.30pm Meet back at your accommodation and prepare for the hike to the lighthouse, Australia s most eastern point! 4.30 Head back to campus. Trip Price: $285 Australian Dollars Numbers strictly limited book early to avoid disappointment. Trip includes: All transportation from and back to Griffith campuses, 2-night beach side share accommodation, all meals listed, Surf lesson (wet suit provided), sea kayaking (wet suit provided), guided lighthouse walk, beach tour and your Extreme Adventures crew. Please note activities are subject to weather conditions. During your time in Byron there are a couple of options you may wish to try (extra cost): Try Sky Diving (tandem) over the clear waters and national parks of Byron Bay SCUBA dive in one of Australia s top 10 sites Julian Rocks. -Certified Dive -Introductory dive - ½ day including theory component -Snorkelling What to bring? You ll need your swimsuit, towel, t-shirts, shorts, fleece, jeans (or similar) for evenings out in Byron, sunscreen, insect repellent, camera, film, tennis shoes, sandals and a smile.
