1 Family Park Broadway Street Park President Slashes Vital Coastal Funding Need Your Support and Help Soundside Park New Playgrounds Complete Beach Nourishment Shoreline Protection President Bush s proposed 2006 budget has eliminated any federal funds for Surf City, Topsail Beach and North Topsail Beach s shoreline protection programs. Surf City is currently in the Feasibility Phase of it s Nourishment Program and the Corps of Engineers will not even be allowed to complete this phase without federal funds being restored. It is vital that you make your voices heard in Washi n g ton. Plea se v i sit and under Beach Renourishment link to Howard Marlowe for information on how y o u m a y h e l p. Inlet Dredging President Bush s proposed 2006 budget also slashes federal funding for channel maintenance which without this program will allow our inlets to close. The waters have already become too shallow in the New River Inlet and the U.S. Coast Guard has removed the navigational buoys. At this time the corps of engineers survey has found sufficient depth in New Topsail Inlet but without this maintenance program we believe this Inlet will become too shallow soon. Please contact your elected representative and request funds be restored for Coastal Dredging. Soundside Park: Town Council along with the former Surf City EMS Squad combined funds to install a new playground for all to enjoy at the Soundside Park. Broadway Park: Town Council authorized funds from the Recreation Budget for the creation of this second new park located at the corner of Highway 210 and Broadway Street. Family Park: Town Council authorized funds to replace the playground equipment at this park located on South Topsail. We have heard very positive comments about these three new parks and would like to encourage all our citizens to visit the parks.

We are hoping to be able to incorporate your escrow information along with your tax bill information, if not with the 2005 bills then with the 2006 bills. When you receive your 2005 Property Tax bill please forward a copy to your escrow account manager for payment to ensure prompt payment of your property taxes Property Taxes If you receive a notice in the mail for 2005 Property Taxes and you have sold that property, please call the Surf City Tax Office at to ensure that your information has been changed, so that the proper owners will be billed. Bank Drafts The new computer system is capable of handling bank drafts. We are working to find the most cost effective way for the Town to handle these drafts and how to handle the procedures. We are hoping this service will be available in the near future. Surf City Bridge Built in 1954, one of few operating swings bridges still in operation.
