1 2011 IRF YOUTH WORLD RAFTING CHAMPIONSHIP Pacuare River Costa Rica October 13 th - 17 th 2011 Asoc. Aventura y Remo invites the top youth rafting teams from each member nation to the 2011 YOUTH World Rafting Championship in Costa Rica. Races will be held on the Pacuare River. Asoc. Aventura y Remo also organized the 2010 Pre-World Championship. Important Facts Information letter #1 Date: October 13 th 17 th 2011 Location: Siquirres, Costa Rica Organizer: Asoc. Aventura y Remo Director of the race: Rafael Gallo, Costa Rica Categories: R6 (M/W) Age: Race: Sprint Head-to-Head Slalom Downriver River: The Pacuare River has its source in the Cordillera de Talamanca and flows approximately 108 km to the Caribbean. It is a popular location for whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking, and riverboarding and has been named one of the top 10 river trips in the world by National Geographic. The youth world rafting championship, will be held on the class 3 section of the river.

2 Entry fee: $US 1200 per team (This includes transportation from and to the airport, accommodation, all meals from October 13 to October 17, and transport on and off the river during the event. Transportation fees are included for teams from October 11th to October 13th. And on the way back from Siquirres or San Jose to the Airport only October 17th) Race rules: The race format will be according to the IRF rules. Please refer to Rafts and equipment: The official raft will be the RobFin 420 (length 417, width 190, tubes 52, thwarts 2, material PVC, color sky blue) provided by the organizer. Teams are responsible for their own PFDs, helmets, paddles, paddling clothing, throw bags, and any additional paddling accessories they might require. Transport: For all competitors who arrive by airplane, the organizer will provide transport, included in the entry fee, from Juan Santamaria airport to the place of accommodation (from October 11th to October 13th), transport to the river, and all other transports during competition. And on the way back from Siquirres or San Jose to the Airport (only October 17th and 18th) Accommodation: A campsite is being built at the race site. More news on this endeavor to come. Meals: Costa Rican cuisine will delight all. We are working hard to provide the best delicious organic food for you. Registration form: The registration form will be posted at the official website ( You must fill out all required information (team names, names of participants, substitutes, etc.). 3 or Judges: During competition, the organizer will provide accommodation, food, and transport for the 12 official IRF judges and 3 jury members free of charge. Judges who come to work at this event must send an to IRF Admin to confirm their participation. Awards: The organizer will provide prizes for the winning teams.
