Why are we up so early and waiting outside our hotel in Waikiki? Well, this morning ENW is going to try something a little 2:...zip-lining. If you are not sure a zip-line is a long stretch of cable by which a person slides down, usually quite high above the ground. This morning ENW is heading from 3: to North Shore - a journey of around 46 km where we will spend the morning on a 3-hour guided zip-line tour. Included in our tour will be zip-lines of more than 1.5km, two rappels, three sky bridges and a hike to a ridge top that will give 4: views of the Pacific Ocean, North Shore beaches and the Ko'olau 5:. OK, we are going to cut off the podcast here and will return from somewhere on our morning adventure...we hope! We are back! You join ENW on a sky bridge about 2 hours into our zip-line trip. So far, we have travelled on 4 zip-lines high above a 6:, over a couple of waterfalls and have been able to look down on a working banana farm. That the Hawaiian, or Aloha shirt, has a very strong Japanese connection? The first Aloha shirt was advertised for sale on June 28th 1925 in the Honolulu Advertiser. The first shirts were sold at Musashi-ya shoten in Honolulu - a shop that was started by a x: immigrant to Hawaii Chōtarō Miyamoto. But it was his son, Kōichirō Miyamoto who is credited as being the first person to create the Aloha shirt. He made the shirt by sewing together fabrics from old Japanese y: - and that is the reason that modern Aloha shirts are made with colourful designs. Outside of Hawaii that Aloha shirt first started to become popular after Elvis Presley wore a red design on the front of the album cover for the soundtrack to the 1961 movie z: Hawaii.
