MIKE Release 2019 General product news for Marine software products, tools & features Nov 2018
DHI 2012 MIKE 3 Wave FM New advanced phase-resolving 3D wave modelling product
A MIKE 3 FM Wave model - why? We need a 3D wave model for complicated jobs e.g. Wave kinematics Wave transformation for offshore wind farms at 30m depth Navigation channels in exposed areas Overtopping and coastal flooding Wave transmission through porous 3D structures Wave-current interaction DHI
Test and validation
USP No limitation on wave height or period (or depth) if only physical pnenomena are properly resolved in space and time 3D porous structures Now possible to create 3D Porous structures representing the real porosity more accurately Model wave transmission through porous breakwater Fast and easy workflow for specifying sponge and porosity zones No need for external pre-processing tools Comprehensive, stable and user-friendly wave generation Wave conditions specified directly in MIKE 3 Wave model FM GUI No need for external tool anymore easier and faster to setup a model. Takes spectral output from MIKE 21 SW. Workflow similar to other FM models Mesh of mixed quadrilateral and triangular elements, known output formats (even dfs2 output is supported) Well-known GUI Codes like SWASH, NHWAVE, OCEANWAVES 3D do not come with a GUI Robust simulation of wave breaking, wave run-up and overtopping New tool for coastal flooding assessment Easy interfacing with other MIKE products like MIKE 21 SW, MIKE 21 BW, MIKE MA and MIKE Flood Model output dfs2 can be used directly in MIKE 21 MA

Multi-body simulations in MIKE 21 MA New features in R2019 Shutterstock / bikeriderlondon
Multi-body simulations in MIKE 21 Mooring Analysis New features: Multi-body support in mooring analyses, used for 2+ Vessels Closed quay walls, offshore terminals New mooring components Improved fender configuration Updated Step-By-Step Guide Improved User Guide Additional and improved examples to show new functionalities and interaction with other MIKE modules, such as MIKE 3 Wave FM and MIKE 21 BW DHI
Multi-body simulations in MIKE 21 Mooring Analysis User interface support for simulating various floating structures, which influence each other, such as Tandem moorings Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU) Closed quay walls Application in Oil & Gas industry Ports and terminals DHI
New Shoreline Morphology and Sand Transport features For MIKE 21 FM Shutterstock / Teun van den Dries
MIKE 21 FM ST/SM Bed level sources Bed level sources/sinks are used to add nourishments or dredging operations to a coupled ST simulation. Two types exist: Standard: Rate of bed level change is supplied by user as time varying dfsu file Dredging: Map of maximum allowed bed level (e.g. in a navigation channel) is supplied together with map of where dredged material is disposed
Combine 2D and Shoreline Morphology in Same Model DHI Shoreline morphology 2D morphology
MIKE 21 FM SM Dune Erosion Model The dune erosion model can be used to calculate the erosion of the dune during storm conditions The material eroded from the dune is added to the sediment budget for the shoreline. Dune is described by (x,y,z) position of the dune foot. Dune erosion depends on water level and waves in front of dune section. DHI
Extended Tidal Tools in MARINE PP Straightforward prediction of 2D tidal currents DHI
DTU10 global tide current dataset Flexible output
MARINE PP Tide tools Predicted tidal currents in the North Sea
New Binary Particle File Format Enhanced performance for particle-tracking, oil spill and agent-based modelling Shutterstock / ChameleonsEye
Technology enhancement for agent-based Process modules New Binary Particle Track for instantaneous result viewing Optimized XML particle track outputs Available for following MIKE 21/3 FM Process Modules: Oil Spill Particle Tracking ABM Lab
Structured Grids as input/output in MIKE FM Shutterstock / QtraxDzn
Structured Grids in MIKE FM Now possible to use Structured Grids as input for your Domain specification in Flow Model FM
Grids in MIKE FM Use the power of GPU processing to run FM Flow Models with Structured Grid Boundaries in the Grid are correctly interpreted
Grids in MIKE FM Grid (DFS2) input Grid (DFS2) Output
Global Boundary for MIKE 3 at your fingertips Shutterstock / QtraxDzn
Make complex modelling simple Upload your mesh Download 3D boundary conditions from 10 year hindcast anywhere 20km x 20 km HYCOM data U, V, T, S + Global tide DHI
Metocean data On-Demand Shutterstock / QtraxDzn
Metocean data on-demand (portal solution)
New licensing for MIKE FM Process Modules Get the most out of your existing licenses DHI
Get the most out of your existing FM Process Module licences There will no longer be a HD module license check for running MIKE 21 HD FM or MIKE 3 HD FM in a decoupled mode This means you can now run all your process modules in parallel on a decoupled setup! MIKE 2019: Number of parallel decoupled instances controlled by number of Process Module licenses HD and HD Decoupled and HD Decoupled MT ST
Improved Flood/Dry in MIKE FM
Improved Flood/Dry in MIKE FM More robust - especially for flow on steep slopes. Significant reduction of the appearance of unrealistic high velocity Simulations previously affected by unrealistic high velocities are likely to experience improved performance in terms of simulation time. No need for manual parameterization handled behind the scene.
DHI Linux: Unlock the power of MIKE 21/3 FM Get the professional Linux license today!
Linux: Unlock the power of MIKE 21/3 FM MIKE 21 and MIKE 3 show excellent parallelization results when run on multiple cores and/or GPU's The FM-engines have been ported to Linux and can be installed on client's computers in order to take advantage of more powerful hardware resources than normally found on Windows PC's
Linux: Unlock the power of MIKE 21/3 FM: News Official Linux-version of MIKE 21/3 engines is now available on our downloadpage License for the Linuxversion can be added to a Corporate License with active SMA.
Underwater Accoustic Simulator (UAS): New MATLAB tools for improved workflow Create 2D sound maps from your transects DHI
Underwater Accoustic Simulator (UAS) UAS was introduced in Release 2016 State-of-the-art tool for noise propagation simulation UAS is normally used for EIArelated studies related to eg. pile driving, seismic surveys, shipping, dredging etc
