COACHES: Surfing Australia use a wide range of Australia s finest, fully accredited coaches to ensure your surfing is benefiting from the best advice and training techniques. FACILITIES: The HPC is the world s first dedicated surf training facility, which includes a modern gymnasium, heated indoor and outdoor pools, full-sized sporting fields, tennis courts and on-site accommodation. Most importantly, the HPC is located next to world class surf breaks which are a stones throw away from the facility. LOCATION: The centre is based on the wave rich Northern New South Wales coastline at Casuarina Beach. This strategic location is 15 minutes south of the world class Gold Coast point breaks, but enough distance away to allow cutting edge training and coaching in idyllic conditions with uncrowded waves. 4 PROVEN SUCCESS & HOME OF CHAMPIONS TEAM AUSTRALIA The International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games is the only opportunity for Australian surfers to wear the green and gold and compete for their country in the quest for the prestigious mantle of the World s Best Surfing Nation. The Australian Surfing Team is better known as Team Australia. Every athlete who represents Australia at the ISA World Surfing Games and World Junior Games undertakes an intensive training and coaching regime at the HPC before competing against the world s best surfers. With the support and coaching of the High Performance Centre, Team Australia has won eight out of a possible thirteen World Teams Titles. The Australian Open Team has won the last three World Titles and the Junior Team has won the last four.

For surfing, sports science identifies the body movements necessary to complete a particular manoeuvre. At the HPC your surfing can benefit from sports science research through the following services. Surfers receive a DVD which includes a compilation of your surfing footage with: DIGITAL PENCIL DRAWINGS IDENTIFYING WHERE A SURFER CAN IMPROVE TECHNIQUE COMPARISONS WITH THE WORLD S BEST SURFERS AUDIO COMMENTARY FROM YOUR COACH Professional Surf Coach Martin Dunn is a firm believer in the Silicon Coach Training Device. This is state of the art technology that allows surfers to benefit from the emerging science of surfing. Surfers are able to view the presentations created over and over again, helping them fast-track their surfing development. SKATEBOARD TRAINING: Due to shifting conditions, surfing can never offer the same environment to repeatedly practice manoeuvres and technique. This is where skateboarding comes into its own. 7 PROGRAMS The HPC offers a wide range of coaching programs and camps for surfers to choose from: THREE DAY CAMPS The popular HPC three day surfing camp allows participants to surf in different types of conditions & implement technique changes under the supervision of their HPC coach. Three day camps focus a surfer s attention on correcting technique and common problems areas such as wave selection, wave usage and wave completion. Camps are tailored to suit either competitors or recreational surfers. Camps have size limits to ensure quality and increased customer benefits by including: PRIVATE SURF COACHING: The HPC offers one-off or regular private surf coaching with Australia s best coaches. CHOOSE FROM TWO HOUR, HALF DAY OR FULL DAY PRIVATE COACHING SESSIONS Private Surf Coaching aims to work on one specific area of your surfing step by step. Once that area has been perfected you are ready to move on and begin another challenge. Whether you want to fine tune your competition strategy or modify your technique to become the best surfer in your local lineup, the HPC can design a program that will improve your surfing. WEEKEND CAMPS Weekend camps are designed to offer surfers coaching and training programs that don t get in the way of school or work. In two days of pure surfing from 7:30am to 5:00pm daily, participants on a weekend camp will improve from filmed surfing sessions with video analysis that focuses on: The three day camp is available to all ages, genders and ability levels with camps for: LIVE-IN CAMPS Live-in camps allow surfers to dramatically develop their ability with extended periods of coaching & constant access to HPC coaches while living onsite at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre. Ranging from one week to four months, long term training is a motivated surfers dream offering the perfect environment to fine tune their surfing aspirations into a professional surfing career. Camps include food and catering, on-site accommodation and customised surf training programs for: CLEAR AND CONCISE INSTRUCTIONS TO TAKE YOUR SURFING TO THE NEXT LEVEL IDENTIFICATION, EVALUATION AND TRAINING METHODS TO CORRECT SURFING TECHNIQUE PIN-POINT AND DISCUSSION OF PROBLEM AREAS

SPECIALTY PROGRAMS SURFER ELITE PROGRAM (SEP) The Surfer Elite Program provides scholarships & educational programs to the next generation of Australian surfers.

8 SPECIALTY PROGRAMS SURFER ELITE PROGRAM (SEP) The Surfer Elite Program provides scholarships & educational programs to the next generation of Australian surfers. Junior surfers are selected by their state branch to participate in week long training camps aimed at guiding participants through the transition from competition surfers to professional athletes. The following live-in camps are held at the Surfing Australia High Performance Centre as part of the SEP program. The SEP is a joint initiative between Surfing Australia, State branches and the Australian Sports Commission.

9 OPTIONAL EXTRAS TESTIMONIALS PHOTOGRAPHY: We can arrange a professional photographer to shoot your surfing sessions so you can take home a CD of still images you will be proud to show your friends. JUDGING SEMINARS: The HPC judging team offer educational seminars on surfing to the judging criteria to discover what a judge is looking for when you ride a wave. The course will also update and clarify competition rules such as the interference rule. MANAGING YOUR SURFING: An increasingly important factor of being a professional surfer is dealing with media and managing sponsorship deals. The HPC offers an overall approach to professional surfing to cover: SELF PRESENTATION AND PROMOTION FOLLOWING THE PATH OF A SUCCESSFUL FREE SURFER OBTAINING, MAINTAINING & KEEPING SPONSORS OUTSIDE THE BOX THINKING FOR PROFESSIONAL SURFERS (OTHER PATHS THAN THE WQS, WCT) AFTER SURFING, HOW TO MAKE YOUR SURFING ASPIRATIONS A REALITY AT THE END OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER PROFESSIONALISM REHABILITATION: If your body is feeling a bit out of sync or an injury is keeping you out of the water, book in for a physical evaluation with a qualified sports practitioner to get your body back into shape. CORPORATE GROUPS: Corporate camps strengthen employee relationships and allow participants to check out surfing for the first time or take their surfing ability to a more rewarding level. Camps are generally one to three days in duration involving surfing sessions and group activities under HPC coach supervision. Situated 10 minutes south of Coolangatta airport, and 400 meters from the beach, it s easy to get to and easy to train. Next door is the Casuarina recreation club, a fully equipped gymnasium, with pool and tennis courts. Rec club staff are highly qualified to test and recommend fitness programs for surfers of all levels. This along with the experienced HPC surf coaches, who conduct the in-surf programs, makes Surfing Australia s High Performance Centre a must for any surfer wanting to reach their potential.
