2 2012 CANADIAN SURF LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS Registration package DATE August 24, 25 and 26, 2012 HOST LOCATION SANCTIONNING FORMAT Lifesaving Society, Québec Branch Beach at the Centre touristique du Lac-Simon, Duhamel, Québec The 2012 Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships are sanctioned by The International Life Saving Federation (ILS) and the Royal Lifesaving Society Canada (Lifesaving Society). The ILS Competition Manual (2011) and Canadian Competition Manual (2010) will be used. The procedures of Lifesaving Society 2012 CSLC Safety Plan will be followed. Competitors and coaches are responsible for making themselves aware of and following the Safety Plan. All Masters events are run as finals. A and B Finals will be conducted in the and open categories according to Canadian Competition Manuel. RESCUE 2012 INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS ELIGIBILITY The World Lifesaving Championships Rescue 2012 will be held in Adelaide, Australia in November For the Rescue 2012 Interclub Championships, the National Sport Organization (NSO) must provide an endorsement declaring that members of the club have been a member of that club for at least 90 days prior to the World Championships. As such, the club for which a competitor is a member as of August 16, 2012 and at the Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships is the club for which he/she must compete with at the World Lifesaving Championships in November 2012." Mathieu Poirier GETTING TO LAKE SIMON Transportation between the airport and Centre touristique du Lac-Simon at Duhamel by your own means. Ottawa airport (Rockcliff) is at 118 km (about 2 hourw) from Duhamel; and Montréal airport (Pierre- Elliott-Trudeau) is at 176 km (about 2 hours 30 minutes) from Duhamel according to Google Map. EQUIPMENT The host of the competition will provide the Kiefer rescue tubes that must be used in the events. All the equipment will be in accordance with the ILS Competition Manual (2011). All competitors must provide their own palms, aquaplanes and surf-skis. MEDALS Medals will be awarded according to the Canadian Competition Manuel (2010). REGISTRATION Complete registration forms must be received before Friday 10 August No late registrations will be accepted. The registration form will be considered complete when all the following requirements will be fulfilled and the documents received by the host of event (Lifesaving Society, Québec Branch): Registration form All fees Waiver and release form (the original could be given at the reception place) Proof of holding a current Bronze Medallion Award or higher from the Lifesaving Society Being 16 years old before the first day of competition Being a Registered Athlete (download the form : FEES Competition with banquet, per person $ 90 Competition only, per person $ 50 Banquet only, per person $ 40 T-Shirt, per person $ 25 Late fee, per person $ 50

4 2012 CANADIAN SURF LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS APPEAL The Appeals process is described in ILS Competition Manuel. Forms can be obtained from the Competitor Liaison. The decision of appeal committee is finale and without appeal. ANTI-DOPING POLICY The fee to Appeal is $ 100. This amount is refunded if the appeal is accepted. The Lifesaving Society supports the Canadian government, the National Commission of Sport, the Canadian Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in effort to abolish doping in sport. Testing may occur at the 2012 Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships. BANQUET The closing ceremony will be Sunday evening for all registered competitors, officials and volunteers. At this ceremony, medals will be presented according to the Canadian Competition Manual (2010). No dress code is required. A shuttle will be provided between the Centre touristique du Lac-Simon and the location of the banquet which will be held in Chénéville municipality. REGISTRATION Complete the registration form and include all payments. Completed registration form and fees. The teams must take care of their accommodation. Each sleeps 5 or 6 people (2 or 3 bedrooms) and they are all fully equipped, heated with electricity and have a woodstove and electric range. A propane barbecue is provided. Free wireless Internet. Indoor washroom with shower. You ll need to bring your own linens (sheets, blankets, towels and dish towels). Mini-cabins, 4 people Affordable comfort! Inside: stove with 2 burners, fridge, sink, toilet, shower, electric heating, dishes, utensils and cookware. Bring your bedding! A propane BBQ is at your disposal.
