7 Starting Age 8-10 Years Times per Week 3-4 wet for 50 mins, 3-4 dry mins Sports Motor Coaching Aims A variety of movement coordination, drills, movements, all four strokes starts and turns, general endurance and swimming mobility Aims in Attitude and Knowledge Enjoyment in the water and sporting getting used to the group, knowledge of swim techniques and the most important swim rules, etc. Content and Methods Learning and practicing all 4 strokes, ball sports, sculling, load alterations and games, interval swimming and steady swimming of long distances Basic Motor Learning Period Starting Age ½ + or one year Times per Week 5-6 wet for 60 mins, dry not described Sports Motor Coaching Aims Basic swimming endurance and ability to change speed. Technique consolidation, improvement of flexibility, speed and muscular endurance, aquatic agility, relays etc. Aims in Attitude and Knowledge Team behaviour, performance in a group, discipline, fairplay, time management, warm up and race management behaviour, group responsibility. Content and Methods Continuous method, extensive interval training, speed play, Accelerating and pace variation, contrast, combination, and feel for the water exercises. Aims in Attitude and Knowledge Willingness to perform as a team member or individual, Basic hydrodynamics, basic biomechanics and biology, joint planning for training and competition schedule, self monitoring and record keeping (logs) Content and Methods Sprints, Pull gear, intensive interval training, overdistance swimming, underwater swimming, games etc. Progressive Training Starting Age ½ + or one year Times per Week minute sessions, with to 70 minute dry sessions Sports Motor Coaching Aims Swimming speed endurance, max strength, muscular endurance specific to race, varied pace, basic swim endurance, hypoxic swimming, distance specialization, division in competition level Aims in Attitude and Knowledge Knowledge of special training methods, nutrition, behaviour at meets independent of coach, methods of self monitoring, drawing up of training schedule, conditioning to and experience of risk in a team.
