LOCATION: Harney Gym 4 th Street Fort, KS Please Read Military Post Access Requirements in the Special Considerations for Entering a Military Base Section on page 10 of this meet sheet. FACILITY: Harney Pool: An 8-lane, 25-yard indoor competition pool with non-turbulent racing lane lines and custom-designed starting blocks. A Colorado Timing System and Scoreboard timing and starting system will be used with Hy-tek Interface/Meet Manager Software. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with C(4). Pool depth at the start end is 12 ft.; pool depth at the turn end is 3 ft. 6 in. In water starts will be used for events that start at the turn end. All events, except the quarter-final, semi-final, and final events are timed finals. This meet also features a competition where the top 8 finishers in the 50 Freestyle age group event will compete in a single elimination 50 FREE SHOOTOUT COMPETITION: competition to determine the top 50 Free swimmer based on their age group. requirements: The 50 free shoot out will follow USA Swimming rules contained in Article ,.3,.5, and.6 concerning Prelim and Finals meet participation limitations. Please see the entries section of this meet sheet to review the rules that will apply to swimmers that qualify for and participate in the. The top 8 swimmers from the 50 Free event will be eligible to participate in the 50 Free competition. Coaches must confirm their swimmer s intent to participate in the competition 30 minutes following the announcement of the final results of the 50 free events. The list of top 8 swimmers for the will be provided to coaches and posted at the pool s results site. Age groups that will compete in the are: 10&U Open

2 Inclement Weather Delays: Warm-ups: Swimmers will not be allowed to change age groups. Swimmers will compete in the same age group that they were entered in in the initial 50 free event. The elimination round heats will feature two swimmers competing against each other. The shootout elimination match-ups, based off the 50 Free final places, are: Round 1 (Events 13P, 14P, 15P, 16P//43P, 44P, 45P, 46P): #4 vs #5 #3 vs #6 #2 vs #7 #1 vs #8 Round #2 (Events 39S, 40S, 41S, 42S// 69S. 70S,71S, 72S): Winner of #4 vs #5 heat vs winner of #1 vs #8 heat Winner of #2 vs #7 heat vs winner of #3 vs #6 heat Round #3 Championship (Events 95F, 96F, 98F//131F,132F, 133F, 134F). Coaches are reminded NOT to enter swimmers in the elimination round events that will be in the event file. Swimmers will be entered in those events by the meet admin once the top 8 swimmers have qualified for the elimination rounds and have declared their intent to participate in the shootout competition. Please note in the event schedule when each round of the event will be swum. In the case of inclement weather; adjustments/changes to the start times for the meet will be posted on the Ft. Team Website at: Friday Evening: Warm-ups start at 4:15 PM; Meet starts at 5:30 PM. Saturday & Sunday Morning: Warm-ups at 7:00 am; Meet starts at 8:30 am. Saturday Afternoon: Warm ups will begin after the conclusion of the morning session but no earlier than 1:30 pm. Meet will begin no earlier than 2:45 pm. Sunday 8 & Under Session: Warm ups will begin immediately after the conclusion of Saturday morning s session, but no earlier than 12:00 am. Meet will begin no earlier than 12:30 pm. Sunday Afternoon: Warm ups will begin immediately after the conclusion of the 8&U morning session but no earlier than 1:00 pm. Meet will begin no earlier than 1:30 pm. Warm-up lane assignments will be provided NLT 25 January Lane assignments will also be provided in the coach s packet, printed in the heat sheets, posted at the pool, and will be available at the web page at: Missouri Valley and USA Swimming Safety Guidelines and Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect at the meet. During general warm-ups the following MVS safety rules will apply: 1. All lanes general warm up only; 2. Circle swimming only; 3. Swimmers may not dive or jump into the pool during general warm up. Swimmers must enter the pool by stepping in feet first, or sitting and sliding in, in a safe and cautious manner. Entering in any other manner may result in the disqualification from one or more of the swimmer s events for that session at the discretion of the Meet Referee. Swimmers may dive during a designated sprint warm up. 4. No diving, use of the starting blocks, or racing starts off pool edge; 5. At any time during general warm ups, the coach of a team in control of any lane may convert the team's lane into a sprint lane by:

3 COACH S MEETING ELIGIBILITY: DISABILITY SWIMMERS: ENTRY INFORMATION ENTRIES: a. Removing all swimmers in that lane from the water. b. Informing coaches in adjacent lanes. c. Informing the safety marshal. d. Following all guidelines for sprint lanes. A coach s meeting will be held 15 minutes before the morning sessions in the coaches break area. All swimmers must be registered as 2018 athlete members of USA Swimming. The age of the swimmer as of the first day of the meet will determine his/her age for the entire meet. Swimmer s registration number must appear on entry form. No entries will be accepted unless the entrant is registered in accordance with the rules of the meet. Registration of all athletes will be verified by the MVS Registration Chair prior to the meet. Those not registered will not be allowed to swim in the meet. Athletes with a disability are welcomed and shall provide advanced notice of desired accommodations to the Meet Director. The athlete (or the athlete's coach) is also responsible for notifying the session referee of any disability prior to the competition. DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING ENTRIES IS 11:59 pm ON MONDAY, JANUARY 15 th, Entries will be limited to the first 500 swimmers, based on date. Entries will be accepted in the order received. No teams will be split Entries must be submitted using actual short course yard times using Hy-Tek Team Manager compatible files. No time entries will be accepted and will be seeded last 1000 freestyle entries are limited to the top 40 entries. Swimmers entered in the 1000 freestyle will be asked to provide timers. Each Swimmer participating in the meet is limited to Six (6) individual events (IEs) and one (1) relay per day. 8 and under swimmers may only swim each particular stroke and distance in either the 8 and under category or the 10 and under category. In either case, the 6-entry limit per day shall apply. entries to: Jeff Lochow, entry chair at: lochowj@gmail.com. A club entry chair or coach must submit entries for this meet. We will not accept entries from individual swimmers or families. Deck entries will be accepted in the order received to the extent that open lanes are available. See entry fee section for cost of deck entries. No additional heats will be added. Deck entries must be submitted to the Clerk-of- Course on the provided forms. ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by 11:59 pm MONDAY, JANUARY 15 th, ENTRY FEES: Meet Fees are: $4.50 per individual event; $9.00 for individual event deck entries. $7.00 per relays team; $14.00 for relay deck entries. SEEDING & RULE INFORMATION SEEDING: The meet will be pre-seeded with the exception of those events requiring positive check in. POSITIVE CHECK- IN Positive check-in is required for the1000 freestyle and the 400 IM. Sign-in will be conducted at the timer s desk and will close at the end of the warm-up session in which the event is scheduled. For the 1000 free and the 400 IM they may be scratched from the event per the discretion of the Meet Referee.

4 DECK ENTRIES FAILURE TO SCRATCH Deck entries will be accepted if the timeline permits for non-limited events only and at the discretion of the Meet Director and Referee. All events will be swum fastest to slowest. Any swimmer entered in an individual event that is seeded on the deck, in whole or in part, who has checked in for that event, must swim in the event unless the clerk of course is notified before the seeding for that event has begun that the swimmer wishes to scratch. Because the event is considered a prelims/finals format, MVS scratch rule section 6, subparagraph 3a, is in effect for the top 8 swimmers who qualify for shootout elimination rounds (quarter, semi, and finals), which states, Any swimmer qualifying for a consolation final or final race in an individual event who fails to compete in said consolation final or final race shall be barred from further competition for the remainder of the meet, except as noted in 4. below. Exception per paragraph 4 are: a) The Referee is notified in the event of illness or injury and accepts the proof thereof; b) A swimmer qualifying for a consolation final or final race following preliminaries notifies the Referee, or designee, within thirty (30) minutes after announcement of the qualifiers for that final race that the swimmer may not intend to compete and further declares his final intentions within 30 minutes following the swimmer's last individual preliminary event; c) It is determined by the Referee that failure to compete is caused by circumstances beyond the control of the swimmer. ENTRY TIMES Entry times are Yard Times only. Times converted to yard times will be allowed. No Time entries will be seeded in the slowest heats. RULE AUTHORITY: Current USA Swimming Rules and Missouri Valley Safety Guidelines and Warm-Up Procedures shall be in effect. Only coaches registered with USA Swimming will be allowed to participate in any coaching capacity. All coaches and deck officials should have their cards visible at all times while on deck. Swimmers without a coach at the meet must check in with the Meet Referee and will be assigned to a coach during the warm up portion of the meet. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer's legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms. Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present. Deck changes are prohibited. AWARDS, RESULTS, & EVENT SCHEDULE AWARDS: Awards will be presented as follows: Participation ribbons for all 8 & under swimmers (9th place to last place participant including DQ s). Ribbons for 1st-8th place in all individual events (excluding events) Ribbons for 1st-3rd place in relay events. Individual Awards to the Champions. RESULTS: Final results will be posted at designated location at the pool venue and on the Missouri Valley website and may include the swimmer s name, age, and times. After the final session, copies of the meet results will be available for any coach who provides a USB memory stick.

9 CONSESSIONS CONSESSIONS: Full concessions will be available on both Saturday and Sunday sessions. Concessions will be limited to drinks and snacks on Friday evening. VENDOR: Swim Quick will be available Saturday and Sunday. DIRECTIONS TO POOL & SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR ENTERING A MILITARY BASE DIRECTIONS TO POOL: Please allow for extra time to get on base because of processing time at the front gate. Fort is located on Metropolitan Avenue in just off US Hwy73/KS Hwy 7. Harney Gym is located off 4th street. Follow Grant Ave past the 2nd stop light at the intersection of Grant and Coby Ave. Turn left on Coby Ave. Then turn left on 4th street. The gym and parking will be on your right. MAP TO POOL FROM FRONT GATE OF BASE: Harney Pool Main Gate Entrance Metropolitan MILITARY BASE ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS: Fort is a gate controlled federal installation. Access in the past has been challenging. To make post access as easy as possible we have coordinated with post security to issue 3-day access passes for visiting swimmers, family, and any team visitors. The pass is a 3-day pass for January, Each person in a car, 16 years and older, will need a pass to access post. This includes drivers and all passengers in each vehicle entering post. The pass is used in conjunction with a driver s license or other government issued identification card. The passes are considered controlled items. Note: We don t need names or any personal information; I just need the number of passes your team requires.

Her contact information is: marleemarshall67@gmail.com or As soon as possible Marlee needs each team to identify a single point of contact who will provide the number of passes required by your team and their current mailing information where she can send the post access passes. 3. Please do not disseminate information regarding the guest passes via a Facebook post or twitter post. The preferred method is through a team only The pass is used in conjunction with a current/valid driver s license. It does not exempt the car from random searches. Please allow time to get through gate procedures. 4. Drivers cannot shuttle non-guest pass holders onto post. PARKING: Harney Pool Post Exchange Commissary
