Entry Conditions: All competitors wishing to compete at the 2019 WBC Branch Senior Pool Rescue Championships must be a current financial member, proficient in their relevant age award, and have met their Club s required patrol commitments. 2 NB: It is an offence to enter a person who does not meet the requirements as set down in this Circular. Any irregularities will be considered and may be subject to disciplinary action. COMPETITION EQUIPMENT While competitors will be required to supply their own fins for events, Rescue Tubes will be provided. Event Equipment and Specifications: All competitors are required to supply their own swimwear, fins, and caps. The swimwear and caps must comply with the SLSA specifications in Section 2.5 (Dress of Competitors) of the current SLSA Surf Sports Manual, 35 th Edition Revised July 2018* and all subsequent updates or SLSQ Club Management Apps, The swim fins used by U14 to Masters competitors must comply with the specifications as detailed in the Sections 2 and 4 of the current SLSA Surf Sports Manual*. For scrutineering purposes swim fins shall comply with the maximum overall length of 65cm and maximum width (at the widest point of the blade) of 30cm. The obstacles, manikins, line throw ropes etc. will comply with ILS specifications and shall be provided by Branch for the competition. The specifications for this equipment may be found in Section 8 of the ILS Competition Manual. GENERAL EVENT CONDITIONS Team management, coaches and competitors are responsible for being familiar with the competition schedule, and with the rules and procedures governing events. Except where indicated in this document, competition and events shall be conducted as per the current SLSA Surf Sports Manual*, the current edition ILS Competition Rule Book, Edition and any specific or amending competition Bulletins or Circulars. Please also note that event rules may be subject to change at the discretion of SLSA or the Competition Committee/Event Referee. Any of these changes will be communicated at the earliest opportunity. Pool Rescue Event Description and Rules: These aspects are outlined in the current ILS Competition Rule Book as follows: Section 3 Pool Rescue Events Includes: Starts, Event Procedure, Disqualification (Codes) ENTRIES CLOSE SUNDAY 17 FEBRUARY 2019
3 Combined Age Group Events: In the Combined Relay events, Clubs may enter any number/combination of athletes of that gender from both or either of the corresponding age categories i.e. In the Under 15 & Under 17 (Combined) Female 4x50m Obstacle Relay, you may have 4 x U15 females OR 4 x U17 females OR any combination of females from each age category. Please also be aware that competitors in the MANIKIN TOW events MUST have a handler that is wearing a matching Club Competition or Swim Cap. Swimwear: As previously described, Swimwear worn by competitors in the Pool Rescue Competition and any other swimming events at the Wide Bay Capricorn Senior Branch Championships MUST be approved competition dress as detailed in Section 2.5 Dress of Competitors of the current SLSA Surf Sports Manual*. High Visibility Lycra Vests are NOT required to be worn in the Pool Rescue Events. ALL competitors in a single club must wear the same swimming/competition cap. If choosing to wear a swimming cap, it does not necessarily need to match your Club competition cap. For example, if Tannum Sands choose to wear a blue swimming cap, ALL competitors from Tannum Sands MUST wear the same coloured blue swimming cap. Non Events: Generally, for all events, IF only one (1) individual or team marshall for an event, that event is declared a non-event. However, for these Championships, there will be exceptions to this rule as follows: - Masters: In age groups that have only one (1) starter/nomination, that event will be declared a NON- EVENT and that competitor will move down to the next younger age group to compete. The only time an event will be conducted with one (1) competitor is the youngest age group event, (ie yrs). - Under 17 to Open: If there is only one (1) starter in an Under 17 individual event, that event will become a NON-EVENT and that competitor will be moved into the Open age category for that particular event. - If there is only one (1) starter in an Open Individual OR team event, that event will be conducted. - Under 15: If there is only one (1) starter (Individual or Team) in an Under 15 event, that event will be conducted as this is the youngest Senior age group. - Under 15 and Under 17 Combined Team Events if there is only one (1) starter in these team events, that event will be conducted, as due to award restrictions, there is the possibility that these teams would be ineligible to compete in an Open team event. Events will not be held up for competitors without the proper equipment/apparel or who are still competing in another event. If you miss marshalling you will not be permitted to enter the race. Officials: Clubs MUST supply 1 Official for every 8 competitors (or part thereof) they nominate. All appointed Officials will be required to be accredited SLSA Officials and be the holder of a current Blue Card. It is imperative that the appearance of competition Officials is of a high standard, therefore appointed Officials are requested to give a high degree of attention to the quality of their uniform. It is preferred all Officials wear the uniforms distributed by Branch.
6 Timekeepers: ALL competing Clubs MUST also supply two (2) Timekeepers. The Timekeepers do not need to be accredited Officials. The more Timekeepers you can provide, the less time they will need to be on the pool deck. However, Clubs will need to be responsible for any rotation of their personnel, ensuring each new Timekeeper reports to the Chief Timekeeper prior to taking up their position. Timekeepers should be available from 30 minutes prior to the commencement of competition. Officials/Timekeepers, Ratio/Numbers, shall be strictly enforced. GENERAL NOTES - All Team Manager s Declarations CLICK HERE must be received online no later than Sunday, 17 February All clubs must have a Team Manager irrespective of entries. - IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL COMPETING CLUB TEAM MANAGERS ATTEND THE TEAM MANAGER S BRIEFINGS FOR COMPETITION. - The Carnival Referee can amend the programme as required and in consultation with Team Managers.
