1 NATIONAL & JUNIOR NATIONAL AQUATIC CHAMPIONSHIPS-2018 Thursday 01st November to Sunday 04 th November 2018 Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex A meeting for all team managers / representatives / teachers-in-charge / captains of schools/clubs will be held on each date of Competition at 7:15am at the respective aquatic facility. Any amendments, marshaling procedures, etc. will be briefed at this meeting. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. ENTRIES Entries must be in the attached ENTRY FORMS (ANNEX 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 & 3.4). All required Entry forms must be typed legibly and should contain all required information. Incomplete forms may be rejected. 2. ELIGIBILITY Entries for the above championships will only be accepted from fully paid-up affiliate members and only athletes registered for the year 2018 will be permitted to participate. 3. ENTRY FEES Please refer to ANNEX-1 Column 3 for the respective entry fees. All entry fees must be deposited to the following account (Can Be Deposited at Any Branch), o Name of the Bank/ Branch - Peoples Bank, Duke Street Branch o Account name - Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) o Account Number Entry fees will not be refunded under any circumstances. Protests or objections will cost Rs each, and must be submitted in writing within one (1) hour upon completion of the respective event. 4. ANNEXURES The following documents are attached. 1. Payment form 2. Order of Events Entry Form, Boys/Girls Swimming 4. Entry Time Qualifying Standards 5. ENTRIES CLOSE Entries will close on Monday 15 th October 2018 at 3:00pm at the SLASU office. Entries without fees and/or late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances. All Entries should reach SLASU by on or before the closing date. It is your responsibility to assess the country situation and ensure the above is done. Entries will not be accepted without the payment. The original bank slip should be submitted along with the entries if you have deposited the funds. You can withdraw events from the entry, but can t be changes or added. Results of this meet will be considered for any International Events within the next 6 months and first selection for the 2019 SAF games. If you are sending the entries by e mail, entry copies should be properly scanned & legible. Mobile screen shots attached e mails will be rejected.

2 The National & Junior National Swimming Championships 2018 will be held under the rules of The SRI LANKA AQUATIC SPORTS UNION (SLASU), and where inconsistent the rules of the FEDERATION INTERNATIONALE DE NATATION (FINA) shall apply. Performance at this event can be used for the selection of athletes for future International events. SRI LANKA AQUATIC SPORTS UNION MANADA YAHAMPATH GENERAL SECRETARY SWIMMING 1. AGE GROUPS JUNIOR (Under 15): Open to swimmers who are aged 14 years or bellow as at the end of the year 2018 (Born in 2004 or after) OPEN: Open to Any Swimmers All athletes shall participate in ONLY one of the above age groups. 2. QUALIFICATION CRITERIA AND ENTRY PROCEDURE A swimmer may enter as many events as desired within limit of events specified for the respective Meet Categories (Under 15 & National), provided they have achieved ONE or MORE qualifying standards specified in any of the following SLASU events held since 1st January 2016 or at any verifiable overseas competition conducted by a national federation affiliated to FINA. o Pentathlon Championships o Masters Long Course Championship o National Age Group Championships o National Age Group Qualification Meet (Long Course and Short Course) o Novice Swimming Championships o National Aquatic Championships (Long Course only) o Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Championships o National & Junior National Short Course Championships o South Asian Aquatic Championships Selection Trial o South Asian Aquatic Championships Entry times MUST be submitted along with the entry form, registration number and the name of the meet and year where it was achieved. If a swimmer has not achieved an entry time at any of the specified competitions it shall be declared as NT (No Time). If the name and date of the meet where the entry time was achieved is omitted, the entries of such swimmer shall be rejected without notice. There will be no refunds once entries have been submitted. In the event where teams have provided false time standards, SLASU reserves the right to take disciplinary action against the team. All the swimmers participating in senior & junior category relay events should have at least qualified in one individual event to be eligible for participation in relay Events. Limitation of Events: A swimmer may enter up to maximum of five (5) individual events. National Aquatic Championships a) Swimmers who have only qualified in a 50m or 100m Race distance will not be eligible to enter any 200m, 400m, 800m or 1500m event. Please refer point (b) & (c) for eligibility of such events. b) Swimmers participating for Any 200m event (200m Freestyle/ Breast Stroke/ Back Stroke/ Butterfly Stroke/ Individual Medley) & Any 400m Event (400m Freestyle/ Individual Medley) must submit their entry time

3 provided that they have achieved the qualifying standards of a minimum of one 200m or 400m event out of the event list mentioned. c) Swimmers intending to swim the 800m Freestyle for Women & 1500m Freestyle for Men must submit their entry time to eligible to participate for this event. Entries with NT will be rejected without notice. Junior National Aquatic Championships d) Swimmers who have only qualified in a 50m or 100m Race distance will not be eligible to enter any 200m & 400m event. Please refer point (e) for eligibility of such events. e) Swimmers participating for Any 200m Event (200m Freestyle/ Individual Medley) & 400m Freestyle must submit their entry time provided that they have achieved the qualifying standards of a minimum of one 200m or 400m event out of the event list mentioned. 3. SCRATCH PROCEDURE Any swimmer seeded in the last heat (fastest heat) of a Timed Final that is being held in a different session and not intending to swim should notify their intention personally or through the team captain/representative and have his/her name scratched at the first instance of this event being called for marshaling. Any swimmer qualifying for a Final event and not intending to swim should notify their intention personally or through the team captain/representative and have his/her name scratched through a completed scratch form prior to the conclusion of the session in which the heats are swum. In the event of a scratch the next fastest swimmer and in his/her absence the next alternate will be called for the Final event. The next alternate will be notified of his/her eligibility in the Programme of the final session displayed on the notice board. It is the responsibility of the next alternate to be on stand-by and ascertain his/her eligibility. Any swimmer failing to observe the above scratch procedure will be barred from taking part in the rest of the meet. 4. DOPING CONTROL Doping control may be conducted according to procedures laid down by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the Sri Lanka National Anti-Doping Agency. SLASU is fully abided by the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency Rules and Regulations. 5. EVENTS All events shall be swum as Heats and Finals except where mentioned in the Order of Events (Annex-2). 6. RULES FINA & SLASU Rules and Regulations will govern the conduct of these Championships and will serve as the official guide for technical and procedural rules. The decision of the Meet Referee will be deemed conclusive unless adjudicated by the Jury of Appeal. 7. RELAY EVENTS All relays will be swum as Heats & Finals. A school/club shall enter up to a maximum of two (2) relay teams per event. Entry time must be submitted along with the entry form. Teams without entry times will be seeded last in random order. Each relay team shall nominate four swimmers. The individual relay team entry forms containing the names of swimmers for the Heats should be submitted to the official at the time of marshalling. The team shall continue to remain the same for the Finals (if qualified) unless notified. Such change in the composition of the team should be notified through a fresh relay entry form 1 hour prior to the Start of the final session. Any relay team member may compete in a race only once. i.e. No swimmer having already swum in a particular relay team, shall swim again in another relay team of the participating school/club within the same event. (E.g. A swimmer who has already swum the heats in a B team of a Freestyle Relay cannot swim the finals in the A team) 8. AWARDING OF POINTS Points will be awarded to all finalists, according to the following point distribution for determination of the Overall Champions in keeping with FINA General Rule 9.8 on scoring.
