A certified personal trainer will coach a small group of participants through vigorous workouts in order to attain slimming goals and experience numerous health benefits. Beginner: Mon & Wed 5:00-6:00pm Beginner: Mon & Thur 10:00-11:00am Beginner: Members: $76 Program Participants: $128 Y DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM This 12 month program helps adults at risk for type 2 diabetes reduce their risk for developing the disease by taking steps to improve their overall health and wellbeing. Participants work together in small groups facilitated by a trained Y lifestyle coach to achieve the program goals of reducing an individual s weight by 5-7% and building up to 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week. Contact Dara Midwood for class days and times at x141 LIVESTRONG at the Y This is a 12-week small group program designed for adult cancer survivors who have become chronically fatigued or de-conditioned from treatment and disease. Take your climbing skills to the next level with one-on-one sessions with a Y professional climbing instructor. Researched based exercises specifically for Parkinson s that are neuroplasticity principled, hold promise to slow disease progression, restore motor function, increase longevity and quality of life. 2 FALL 2 YOUTH Fall 2 Session Dates October 29 - December 23, 2018 DRAMA CLUB Ages 7-12 The Y Drama Club will meet once per week for 2 hours to learn the basics of drama and production including creating costumes, props and scenery. The goal is to develop participants as a young theatrical leaders in an inclusive and supportive environment by producing a dramatic production for families & friends at the end of the 8 week session. Tuesdays: 6:00-8:00pm KENPO KARATE Ages 4-12 Through martial arts, participants will learn various selfdefense techniques to develop physical fitness, flexibility, and self-confidence. Uniforms may be purchased separately; see instructor. This non-competitive class is designed to help preschool age children develop coordination and begin to learn basic sports concepts to help them to excel on the court or field. Thursdays: 10:00-10:30am, Fridays: 10:00-10:30am Members:$48 Program Participants: $92 YOUTH STRENGTH & CONDITIONING This program teaches participants the importance of a well-balanced strength training program, including proper warm up, strength training, conditioning, and flexibility. Participants will receive guidance and assistance to ensure they are working in a safe and efficient manner based upon their abilities and goals. Thursdays: 4:00-5:00pm, Fridays: 4:00-5:00pm, or Saturdays: 1:30-2:30 pm LITTLE KICKERS Ages 3-5 Learn the fundamentals of soccer during team practice and then use the skills to scrimmage another team. This league puts an emphasis on participation, teamwork and sportsmanship. Saturdays: 9:00-9:30am GROUP CLIMBING LESSONS Please call for evaluation for level placement LEVEL 1 This beginning level helps new climbers learn the basics of the rock wall. Monday: 5:30pm - 6:30pm LEVEL 2 This level will introduce more complex movements. Must pass LEVEL 1 to participate. Tuesday: 5:30pm - 6:30pm LEVEL 3 At this level climbers will assay more difficult routes requiring complex techniques. Must pass LEVEL 2 to participate. 4 FALL 2 AQUATICS SWIM LESSON SELECTOR STAGE A WATER DISCOVERY Stage A introduces infants and todlers to the aquatic environment. STAGE B WATER EXPLORATION In Stage B, parents work with their children to learn fundmental safety and aquatic skills. STAGE 1 WATER ACCLIMATION Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit the pool. STAGE 2 WATER MOVEMENT Students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water. STAGE 3 WATER STAMINA Students learn how to swim to safely from a longer distance. Rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg actions are introduced. STAGE 4 STROKE INTRODUCTION Students develop stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. STAGE 5 STROKE DEVELOPMENT Students work on stroke technique in all major competitive strokes. STAGE 6 STROKE MECHANICS Students refine stroke tecnique in all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming, and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle. RIPTIDES SWIM TEAM FALL GROUP 1 (6-8 years) M/W/F - 5:30pm & TU/TR - 4:45pm (All nights utes) FALL GROUP 2 (9-12 years) M/W/F - 6:15pm (75 minutes) & TU/TR - 5:30pm (90 minutes) FALL GROUP 3 (13+ years) M/W/F - 7:30pm (75 minutes) & TU/TR - 7:00pm (105 minutes) Registration open through November 15th; season runs through Sunday, March 17th, Fee for Seasonal Swim Team is $450 and Swim Team Participant must be a member of YMCA SOUTHCOAST. Multiple Child and Varsity School Sport discounts are available; in addition, Financial Aid and/or payment plans can be arranged.

5 FALL 2 EVENTS Fridays, October 26, November 30, December 28 MEMBER & STAFF FINAL FRIDAY S FESTIVITIES! Join us in celebrating our members and staff the last Friday of each month for fun and food. Saturday, October 27 12:30-2:30pm PUMPKIN SPLASH Did you know pumpkins float? Come swim with the pumpkins, choose one to decorate for Halloween and enjoy other holiday arts and crafts. Pre-registration is $5 per child/pumpkin or $7 per child/pumpkin day of event. Friday, October 26 6:00-8:00pm HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR Join us in the gymnasium as we transform the Gleason Family YMCA into a Pirate Party with a hunt for Halloween bounty. Pirates, princess, mermaids, zombies & landlubbers are invited aboard this family fun event that will be held in the gymnasium. Costumes are optional, but we hope you will dig one out! Members: FREE Program Participants: $1 or canned good donation THANKSGIVING TURKEY & TRIMMINGS PROGRAM Creating a happy and abundant holiday for the many families needing help this Thanksgiving. The food drive runs 10/29 through 11/18 and distribution of the turkey & trimmings will be Monday, 11/19 from 1-7pm. Donations of non-perishable items welcomed: canned fruit/vegetables, gravy, broth, stuffing, mac-n-cheese and aluminum roasting pans. Reservations for your family s dinner will be taken from 11/1-11/16/18 by calling Friday, November 23 BLACK FRIDAY SALE! Join us for membership promotions and the deal of the day. November 26-December 3 SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR Come browse the books and creative play/craft items for holiday gift giving and more. A percentage of the sales benefits our Youth programs. Saturdays, November 17 & 24, December 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 HOLIDAY DROP-N-SHOP 12:00-4:00pm Crafts, songs, games, movies, swimming, sports, and loads of fun! Trying to get your shopping done with your children in tow? Drop them at the YMCA and let us entertain them while you go your merry way! Healthy snack provided; please pack a swimsuit and towel. Members: $12 w/pre-registration or $15 at the door Program Members: $15 w/pre-registration or $20 at the door. Friday, December 7 6:00-8:00pm SNOWY NIGHT, BRIGHT LIGHTS Illuminated Outdoor Trail Walk/Run Snow, Rain or Shine Santa will be joining us for live seasonal music, carols, holiday cheer, s mores and hot chocolate. A pet friendly event costumes encouraged! All children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 3 are FREE. Members/Program Members: $15 per person and $3 per pet (fee includes dog treats) Proceeds benefit the Annual Support Campaign! Friday, December 7 6:00-8:00pm CHILLY NIGHT? CHILI NIGHT! Join us during our SNBL Event for a bowl of homemade chili, soup or chowder w/a slice of cornbread and other baked goods. All proceeds benefit the Gleason Riptides Swim Team. Saturday, December 8 9:00am-2:00pm HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR & BAZAAR For unique gifts and holiday stocking stuffers, check out what our local artisans have created. Local crafters and artists will be at the Y to offer unusual gift shopping for you jewelry, clothing, soaps, candles, knitwear, dog treats, ornaments, and more will be offered. In addition, we will have concessions, a children s craft table and an artist/ crafter item raffle available. Members/Program Members: FREE
