This year our event will include both NOVICE and RECREATIONAL participants. Enclosed please find the Information Package for the BSSC Novice & Recreational Extravaganza, which includes the following:. Event Format. Tentative Schedule. Entry Forms. Event Format o The event will include novice and recreational opportunities. o Novice participants may compete in independent figure and routine competitions (figure scores will not be counted towards routine awards). Swimmers may enter figure and routine events, just the figure event or just the routine event. o Recreational swimmers may participate in independent Trillium Skill Pre-testing/Figure Experience and Routine Watershow activities. Swimmers may enter skill testing and watershow events, just the skill testing event or just the watershow event. Novice Figure Competition: The figure event will consist of the following figure competitions: & under 9/0 years / years - years -0 years Athletes with a disability (physical and cognitive) Swimmers may enter one figure competition only. Each age group will have figures to compete based on the Synchro Ontario novice figure groups. & Under Back Layout Front Layout Side Eggbeater (m) Propellor (m) / Ballet Leg Single Front Pike to Split Position Kipnus to bent knee Position (no descent) Barracuda -0 Flamingo Bent Knee Barracuda Tower Ariana 9/0 Back Layout to Ballet leg Front Pike Somersault Thrust with Float Front Pike to Split Position - Back layout to Flamingo Ariana Kipnus Barracuda Athlete with a Disability Tub Turn and reverse (both directions) Sailboat Alternate Front Pike Pulldown Back Tuck Somersault For the figure competition, swimmers are asked to wear a one-piece suit and a bathing cap (please no two-piece suits if possible). Swimmers are encouraged to wear a solid black suit and white cap, but it is not mandatory. Swimmers entered at each age group will compete together; however, results will be divided by age. For example - will be ranked within their level by age (,,, etc.).

3 Please indicate the swimmers age on the entry form as of December, 0. Swimmers ranking st through th at each age will be awarded. All athletes will receive a participant ribbon. Novice Routine Competition: *The event will consist of the following routine competitions: & Under Team 9/0 Team / Team - Team -0 Team Athletes with a Disability Team, Duet/Solo: all abilities together Don t worry if your routines are not complete bring what you have and come and have some fun! Teams must have a minimum of athletes (no penalties for less than swimmers) :00 minute maximum routine time limit, no minimum To determine the correct age category for the team, average the ages of the team members as of December, 0: Ex) Swimmer : Average age of team = ( ) / Swimmer : 0 Swimmer : 9 = 0. 4 Recreational Trillium Pre-Testing/Figure Event Experience The skill pre-test and figure event experience will take place at each of Trillium through Trillium levels. There will be no Pansy Forbes evaluations. Swimmers may enter as many pre-tests as their instructor believes appropriate. Trillium pre-test skills include: Trillium -front layout -head and foot first sculling -extended front flutter -side flutter to extended back flutter -tub turn (one each way) -back tuck somersault -underwater ( m) -front crawl (0 m) Trillium -paddle scull -split scull (horizontal) -front pike somersault -side eggbeater (R & L) -ballet leg single -support scull on wall -underwater ( m) -front crawl (0 m) Trillium -barrel scull -whip kick with board -back crawl -back layout to extended back layout -sailboat alternate -back pike somersault -underwater (0 m) -front crawl ( m) Trillium -ballet leg to flamingo -butterfly kick (front & back) -forward eggbeater -back layout to inverted tuck -kick pull kick -bent knee position (R & L) -underwater (0 m) -front crawl (00 m) Trillium -propellor -breast stroke -reverse propeller -front pike pulldown -flamingo (R & L) -stationary eggbeater (:0) -underwater (. m) -front crawl (00 m) Trillium -eggbeater boost -butterfly stroke -fishtail position (R&L) -kipnus -pulldown to fishtail -vertical position -underwater ( m) -front crawl (00 m) For the Trillium skill pre-test, swimmers are asked to wear a one-piece suit and a bathing cap (please no two-piece suits if possible). Swimmers are encouraged to wear a solid black suit and white cap as part of the figure experience, but it is not mandatory. Participants will complete rotations of stations for each Trillium pre-test entered. Swimmers will receive a number for order of swim, and each station will begin with a different number (similar to figure panels in a figure competition). Each participant will have a skill passport and will receive a sticker on the passport for successful performance of each skill. If a swimmer is not able to successfully perform the skill they will not receive the sticker for that skill. Participants will be able to take the passport home as record of their achievement. Instructors can use this passport to help determine athlete readiness to complete their Trillium test. All swimmers will receive a participation ribbon.

5 Recreational Routine Watershow! The following age groups and events are welcome to participate in the Recreational Routine Watershow: 0 & Under Team, Duet/Solo / Team, Duet/Solo - Team, Duet/Solo -0 Team, Duet/Solo Athletes with a Disability Team, Duet/Solo: all abilities together Don t worry if your routines are not complete bring what you have and come and have some fun!
