Please advise deck supervisor if you know your child will be absent next week Welcome to the Term 4, 2018 E-Newsletter Our final week for 2018 will end 23 rd December. Classes will resume again Monday 4 February Please read on for school holiday swimming and squad timetables. As we are not a rolling program, you need to re - enrol and pay for your child s lessons each term. We acknowledge that the end of year is a busy time for most families, and that things get forgotten in the rush to holidays or left to the last moment. Swimming re-enrolments are easy to overlook. So please make note of the booking dates below to ensure your child s place for Summer.

Places will be in demand given the summer period, especially weekend classes, so please make note of the dates above. Remember to get your childs grading results from reception in week 7, in preparation for rebooking and payment in week 8.

3 JANUARY HOLIDAY INTENSIVE SWIM PROGRAMS These five day programs are a great way to keep the kids active during the summer holidays. Swimmers consolidate skills every day over a 5 day period. They are great for nervous swimmers or those needing a little extra help with specific skills. Children progress quickly and are confident and highly motivated as a result of accelerated learning. We will be offering group, special needs, and adult s classes over a two week period. Private lessons will be taken on a request basis. Please a.nikuln@sport.usyd.edu.au Given many children will be competing in their School Carnivals early in the new year, Sydney Uni Swimming is offering a preparation course for our youngest swimmers from L4-6. Jan 14-18, 11:15 12 noon & Jan 20-25, 4:15-5pm In this new School Carnival Preparation course, we will be teaching diving, race practice, skills, finishes and tactics and of course stroke correction to help ease those nerves on competition day! Enrolments open for the January Holiday Intensive Swim Programs 3 December. Please book early to avoid disappointment. You will find the timetable on the following page. 5 POLICY AND PROCEDURE CHANGES We would like to take the time to ensure everyone is up to date with recent changes to our policy and procedure at Sydney Uni Swim School. Pricing related to squad swimming As of November 1, prices for those swimmers opting for 3+ sessions per week have increase to $150 for Development, Challenge and Adult Squads. Casual rate sessions have increased to $16.50 per session New swimmers in the Performance program will continue to pay old rates until December, after which they will switch to online payment. Squad fees are due the 1 st week of each month. Swim school must be notified one month in advance of changes to squad attendance, (including non-attendance in school holidays) or previous monthly fee will continue to be charged Makeup lessons 2 Complimentary makeup lessons are granted for use during the term. Paid makeup lessons are no longer available. They must be taken within the existing term and are only available where vacancies exist, which may be very limited in the Spring and Summer months. May only be arranged from week 4 of term, and no more than 7 days in advance.

6 Once arranged, they cannot be rescheduled, nor credit applied. Credit and Refunds Refunds will be granted where 4 or more lessons are missed due to Illness/injury or moving 10+km out of the area. Proof is required, Alternatively, a credit may be held on the swimmers profile. Please contact swimschool@sport.usyd.edu.au Members credit cannot be issued for instances outside of illness or Injury, this includes partial attendance due to planned holidays or Semester breaks. Requests for refunds must be made before the end of the current term Requests maybe considered outside of this time frame, but will incur a $50 administration fee. Active Kid Vouchers These vouchers must be ed to swimschool@sport.usyd.edu.au for verification prior to activation. They cannot be activated immediately for payment. Swim school will honour 2018 vouchers up until 21 January for Term 1 bookings. However, as bookings and payments for learn to swim Term are paid in 2018, 2019 vouchers will need to be used in Terms 2-4. We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.

7 Junior Squads Term 4 Review I d like to remind swimmers and parents that it is now a requirement of swimmers from JD up to have their own kit bag with fins and kickboard, a water bottle and a spare pair of goggles. If everyone could have these by next term, that would be appreciated. We would like to thank you all for your understanding & patience during the new Squad restructure period. The new structure enables us to best suit the needs for each of our squads. A very specific course outline ensures quality control and the benefit of consistent delivery of Instruction. We have now completed a 5-week cycle with our Development and Challenge squads. Both have been working very well on their skills (such as training starts, streamlines and underwater work), body position in the water and drills. We have kept the drills simple for Development squad so they had the opportunity to break the stroke down into small components. At the end of each session we gave them a short distance set where they could implement their new knowledge into their swimming. Revision performed at the beginning of each week and shown that swimmers are retaining previously learnt skills with more ease. Our Challenge squad this term was built on drills and sets progressed from Development squad which allows a smooth transition and a much easier learning experience for the swimmers. This was followed by a main set where they were challenged (sometimes even in long course) to perform their swimming at longer distances and faster time cycles. With most of the Swimming Carnivals and races around the corner, we will be focusing more on Race Preparation in the second half of the Term with important information on dives, turns and finishes. Don t forget Time Trials will be conducted in Week 9 of this term with written time trial cards handed out to all swimmers to keep as a record.

8 HOLIDAY SQUAD SWIMMING TIMETABLE The Junior Squad Holiday timetable is now on the web. Please note there will be no squad training 24 December, 2018 through 6 January 2019 while our Coaches take a well-earned rest. Squad sessions will resume in the New Year 7 January please see website for timetable To compensate both December and January will be pro-rated to 3 weeks. You will be charged $49.50 (one session), $86.25 (2 sessions) or $ (3 sessions) for the months of December and January. Please remember to advise us if your child will not be swimming over the holiday period, else their subscription will continue to roll and you will incur fees. Alternatively, you may choose to pay casually over this period, with single sessions charged at $ Anton Nikulin, Junior Squads Coach

Adult Learn to Swim Will finish for the year on 23 rd December. Classes will resume in the new year with a Holiday Intensive Program for Beginners and Stroke Development 21-25 January at 6pm.

Swimmers come for a 30 min lesson every evening. The cost is $92.50 for the 5x30 min lessons. Bookings for these classes open 3 Dec. Keep your swimming momentum over the holidays!
