2 COURSE DESCRIPTION This is an pen water cean race. The current and wave cnditins are unpredictable. Please use gd judgement if yu are uncertain abut swimming in rugh water. The water temperature is expected t be in the range f high 70F - 75F. The 1 Mile swim will start frm the beach n the Nrth side f the Playgrund Pier adjacent t Caesars Casin (frmerly Ocean One) at Michigan Ave. and finish n the beach area at Chelsea Ave. (check the curse map). All swimmers wh have nt cmpleted the curse during the prescribed time limit may be asked t retire frm the race. Details f race curse with landmarks are attached. Any questins abut the curse will be addressed at the pre-race meeting prir t race. Curse is set, but the race cmmittee reserves the right t change the directin because f cean cnditins. Swimmers will nt receive a shirt fr same day registratin, althugh they may purchase a shirt fr $20. SCHEDULE: The start: Check-in: 08:00 am - 9:50 Michigan Ave Beach Patrl Statin Warm-up frm 9:45 am - 10:00 am Pre-race briefing n beach: 10:05 am (Mandatry) Event starts: 10:15 am Beach start ut t large range buy past the Playgrund Pier. Anyne nt turning the buy n the right shulder will be asked t return t the buy t make the turn arund the buy, r be disqualified. The finish: There will be a large range/red buy at Chelsea Ave.which must be turned n the right shulder. Anyne nt turning the buy will be disqualified. The race will end apprximately 45 minutes after the start. Swimmers wh have nt cmpleted the curse 1 hur after the start, r if the safety fficial deems the individual t stressed t cntinue, may be asked t exit the race. RACE CONDUCT The race will be cntested in a single race (male and female) and results tabulated frm the verall rder f finish. All nn-usa swimmers will sign a ne day USA membership which will prvide them with insurance cverage which is a prerequisite fr entering the event. Any intentinal cntact with ther swimmers is cause t receive a red flag and be ejected frm the race. Nt returning t a buy that a swimmer didn t turn will be a red flag ffense and will be remved frm the race. N wet suits permitted.

3 QUALIFICATION Any swimmer 10 years r lder. USA swimmers, Master Swimmers, Lifeguards, Alumni Lifeguards r any ther swimmer nt a member f a grup affiliatin. DISABILITY SWIMMERS Athletes with a disability are welcmed and shall prvide advance ntice f any requirements deemed apprpriate t the Meet Referee. The athlete (r the athlete's cach) is als respnsible fr ntifying the Meet Directr f any disability at least 1 hur befre the start f the cmpetitin. WARM-UPS There will be warm-ups befre the start f the race. Race site must be clear f swimmers prir t race starting. Warm-ups and warm-dwns will be in frnt f lifeguard stands adjacent t race areas. In accrdance with Middle Atlantic Swim Plicy, nly thse caches wh have current, valid USA Swimming credentials will be permitted t act in a caching capacity at this race. 5 Beach start and finish. SAFETY There will be a mandatry pre-race meeting t review the new curse. Swimmers will be marked n bth shulders and upper arms The number f each swimmer will be recrded and delivered t each turn judge prir t the start f race. At each turn, there will be an accunting f the swimmers by Turn Judges (2 n the water). Anyne leaving the curse will be accunted fr by safety persnnel and their cmpetitr number will be radied t the safety fficer. It is the respnsibility f the swimmer t ntify an fficial if they d nt intend t cmplete the race. When the swimmers finish, they will run int a shutte. Safety bats will mnitr the entire curse (lifeguard bats, and 2 PWC s) There will nt be escrt craft fr swimmers Swimmers will be cunted after they make the tw turns n the curse. Lifeguards will be n lcatin n the water and frm the beach. There will be a rescue/evacuatin PWC s. Medical Services The ACBP will be n site with ne EMT team. Lcated n site. Atlantic City Atlantic Care Hspital is lcated minutes frm the site. Safety Cmmunicatins Plan Each USA Referee and safety craft will have a radi fr instantaneus cmmunicatin with the safety fficer. One Radi channel will be devted t safety. When the lifeguards r ther rescue craft blw shrt blasts n a whistle r air hrn, pay attentin. There may be an emergency. The Safety Officer (Je Haney) will be in charge f all safety at the event, verseeing lifeguards, EMT s and swimmer safety. The safety fficer will be in cnstant cntact with n site persnnel and the Atlantic City Office f Emergency Management. The safety fficer will be n the water t mnitr the swim. Accunting fr swimmers Refer t mnitring swimmers This is the mst imprtant duty f the safety team. Each Turn fficial will whistle if there is a pssible DQ resulting frm nt turning the buy in their jurisdictin and fllw with radi prtcl in additin t radiing t admin when last swimmer passes their statin. Safety during pre-race warm-up and pst-race warm-dwn There will be a separate warm up/warm dwn area and swimmers will nt be allwed t warm up r warm dwn n the curse. The warm up area will als have at least 2 lifeguard bats and ne marshal.

6 GENERAL Event may be delayed r cancelled due t lightning/thunder, extreme wave cnditins, r presence f hazardus sea life. This is an utdr event: bring beach umbrellas fr shade; wear sunscreen; bring chairs. N Smking in r arund the swimmers. Parking is available at the start in Caesars, Bally s, r Claridge Casins at the prevailing rate. At the finish, the Trpicana Casin ffers the clsest parking. Street parking, if yu can find it, is at a 3 hur limit. DIRECTIONS Cming ff the Atlantic City Expressway, prceed straight ahead t Pacific Ave.which will bring yu directly t Caesars Casin. Bally s and Claridge Casins are t the left n Pacific Ave. A right turn will take yu the Trpicana. ACCOMMODATIONS Accmmdatins and restaurants can be fund at:

7 The fllwing pht illustrates the Pageant Ocean Swim curse. Swimmers will start at Michigan Avenue and swim suth t Chelsea Ave. This will be a beach start and finish. At the start, swimmers MUST swim ut past the buy befre turning Suth. Any swimmer turning prir t the buy will be disqualified. Befre turning int the finish line, swimmers MUST swim past the buy n their right in rder t turn int the beach. Any swimmer nt turning with buy n their right will be disqualified. At the finish, swimmers will run nt beach int a chute where yur time and place will be fficially recrded.
