2 Hockey Teams: For players 5-18 years of age and various developmental levels. Teams are involved in local leagues and AA league and have opportunities to compete in League play, League playoffs and Provincial playoffs. Teams also attend tournaments out of town and may host a tournament of their own. Warm-up Camp: Is held for 2 weeks in mid-september prior to organizing all players on to teams for the upcoming season. Warm-up Camp fee is included in registration fees for TMH players. Players from neighboring associations are welcome to attend and pre-registration is required. Pre-Initiation Age Hockey: A development program within TMH. A program for players 4 years of age. An introduction to hockey and a chance to learn a good skill base before entering regular hockey. Clinics for Referee Certification Clinics for Coach Certification Weekly instruction for goalies Power Skating for teams REGISTRATION: Registration for upcoming season is done online starting May 1 st. Contact Michele Rombough for registration assistance. Early registrations receive a discount off of regular fees. There is a late registration in early September. Visit: for additional info and updates. Bronze Star: is designed to deliver high-performance training for skilled preteens. The first level of our Bronze medal family, Bronze Star is excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. Bronze Medallion: teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education -- judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Bronze Cross: teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures and teamwork. Lifesavers learn how to rescue a spinal-injured victim and a pulseless victim. Standard First Aid & CPR C: in a learn-by-doing approach, Standard First Aid teaches dealing with a wide range of injuries and life threatening emergencies. Emphasis is placed on vital signs, priority assessment and basic emergency care principles. Excellent for those who wish to have the knowledge and skills to deal with many National Lifeguard (NL): Recognized as the standard measurement of lifeguard performance in Canada, NLS education is designed to develop a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment and a mature and responsible attitude toward the role of the lifeguard. Prerequisites: 16 years of age, Bronze Cross, Standard First Aid/CPR Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI): The course further develops instructional ability by focusing on how to effectively plan and teach the Red Cross Swim continuum: Red Cross Swim Preschool, Red Cross Swim Kids and AquaAdults. Prerequisite:AWSI & 16 years old You are now a Red Cross Swim Lesson Instructor! You are now a Lifeguard! 2 23

3 If you are 8-15 years old and looking for a fun way to get fit and meet new friends try the Junior Lifeguarding Club. As part of the Lifesaving Society, the Junior Lifesaving Club offers high activity challenges in an energetic learning environment on dry land and in the pool. The club encourages the development of skills based on personal bests in swimming, lifesaving, fitness, first aid knowledge, leadership and teamwork. Note: Candidates must be able to swim 25 meters, exit pool, roll into deep water and tread water for 30 seconds Spring Registration February 16 (6-8pm) Community Centre - Grey Room Junior Lifesaving Club offers more action, more options and more fun: A unique swimming alternative to swimming lessons Keeps kids active and interested in the aquatic environment A place for kids stuck between swimming levels An energetic learning environment The Junior Lifesaving Club is designed for: Youth, ages 8 15 years Swimmers with varying swimming abilities Friends to join together in a fun, exciting and sometimes competitive atmosphere Youth, ages 8 15 years There are no "failures" in Junior Lifesaving Club Only personal and team effort is recognized. Participants can opt to record their achievements in a Water Log. Parents can track individual progress in aquatic skills, lifesaving knowledge and other various activities that promote leadership, teamwork and fitness. 5 2017 Spring Swim Lesson Registration Registration Date: March 18, 2017 Taber Community Centre - Auditorium Time: 9:00 am 11:00 am (After 11:00 am registration will be taken at the Aquafun Centre) Registration Process The doors will open at 7:00 am, as you come into the Community Centre you will be given a number and this is the order to which patrons will be registered. You will not need to stay the entire wait. At 9:00 am we will call numbers in order and you must be present to register. If you choose to stay, please help yourself to some coffee and relax while you wait. 7 Taber Aquafun Centre The Aquafun Centre offers a variety of programs to meet the fitness needs of the community. These include: Aquafit: Aerobic Fitness in the water, instructed by Aquafun Centre staff. This program is offered 4 days per week at a variety of times to choose from. We lead the activity but you are responsible for how hard your heart pumps. Times: Monday 6:10 7:00 pm Tuesday/Thursday 10:00 10:50 am and 8:40 9:30 pm Saturday 11-11:50 am Deep Water Aquafit is offered once per week with all participants wearing flotation belts. This offers a unique fitness experience. Times: Wednesday 6:10 7:00 pm NEW Low Impact Aquafit: Aerobic Fitness in the water with NO JUMPING, instructed by Aquafun Centre staff. This program is offered 2 days per week at a variety of times to choose from. We lead the activity but you are responsible for how hard your heart pumps. Times: Tuesday/Thursdays: 2:30-3:30 pm Adult Swim: Whether for fitness or relaxation, for those aged 18 or older, the Aquafun Centre is a great place to unwind. Times: Wednesday 8:30 9:30 pm Fitness Swim: The 25 m pool is available to lane swimmers and aqua joggers. Also, relax in our hot tub, sauna, or steam room. 9 Taber Kinsmen Have you ever wanted to give back to the community and have a lot of fun doing it? The Kinsmen is a service group which has partnered with the community to do projects such as: Kinsmen Chin Park, Taber Public Library, Taber Skate Park, MD of Taber Park playground equipment, Spray Park, & ice rink, Free Friday night public skating, and Taber Senior s Annual Awards dinner, just to name a few. The Taber Club has a dinner Meeting every other 7 PM (September-June). Tots n Tales - Thursdays 10:30 - a half hour of stories and songs for pre-schoolers and their caregivers. Lego Club meets twice a month at the Library from 3:30 to 5:00. For grades 1-9. Duplo Play Day - held every Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30. For children between the ages of 2-5. Kid s Craft Corner- Saturdays 10:30-11:30 - for a listing of dates/crafts visit our website or visit the library. Children under the age of five must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. SOLARO is a homework help tool based on the Alberta curriculum. It offers study help and exam prep for grades 3 to 12. You must have a valid library membership to use this database. Create an account, work through course lessons, reviews, and quizzes, and improve your grades! SOLARO is also available for mobile devices through the Apple App Store and Google Play.
